Shen Yuqin kept stirring things up.
Chen Feng got carried away with her unreasonable behavior, picked up the steaming bowl of sauerkraut stewed with blood sausage, and slammed it hard onto the ground.
"That's enough, that's enough, Shen Honggang, a man like you shouldn't have a wife and children!"
Shen Honggang looked at the food scattered all over the floor and felt a chill run down his spine.
Anzi was so frightened by the loud noise that she burst into tears.
He didn't understand. Chen Feng and Shen Yuqin had both been criticized and denounced, so what was there to make a fuss about?
In his imagination, the mother and daughter should be filled with remorse when they return home.
The family can sit together and enjoy a warm meal.
But the beautiful wish in the heart of this eleven-year-old boy was completely shattered amidst the hysterical screams of Chen Feng and Shen Yuqin.
"Cry, cry, cry! What are you crying for? You traitor, helping a complete stranger! I don't have a son like you!"
Chen Feng was terrified of Shen Honggang and didn't dare to fight back, but she had nowhere to vent her anger, so she slapped Anzi.
Anzi's fair and clean face immediately swelled up in a big lump. He felt extremely wronged and cried even louder.
Shen Honggang picked up Anzi with heartache and pushed Chen Feng aside.
Chen Feng stumbled and bumped her back against the wardrobe.
Shen Honggang didn't use much force, but Chen Feng's temper flared up, and she would make a mountain out of a molehill for everything.
She roared like a mad dog and overturned the dining table completely.
Big, plump dumplings and thick slices of braised beef were all slammed onto the ground.
Chen Feng cursed as she stomped her feet on the food on the ground.
"No, no!"
Shen Honggang's good intentions were completely crushed by Chen Feng.
His eyes reddened, and he slapped Chen Feng across the face, his fingers trembling as he pointed to the door and said:
"I don't have a spendthrift wife like you! Get out, get out of here!"
"Fine, then go. Shen Honggang, you'll regret it!"
Chen Feng and Shen Yuqin packed their things overnight and went back to Chen Feng's parents' home.
Before leaving, they didn't forget to take the valuable gifts that Shen Jingyan and Chu Chaoyang's family had brought.
Chen Feng's family home is in Huai Liu Village, which is about seven or eight miles away from Da Lin Village.
It was Chinese New Year, and it was nighttime. With nowhere to take a ride, the mother and daughter had to walk for more than an hour before finally making their way back to the mother's house, panting and struggling.
Old Man Chen and Old Woman Chen thought that Chen Feng and her daughter had come to pay New Year's respects, but when they saw the state of the mother and daughter, they knew that the couple had quarreled.
Chen Feng and Shen Yuqin, with tears streaming down their faces, embellished the story and gave a distorted account.
Old Mrs. Chen slapped her thigh and cursed, "I knew it long ago! That Jingya is no good. She's alluring and seductive, a vixen who knows how to seduce men! Just like her shameful mother!"
Although Mr. and Mrs. Chen favored sons over daughters, Chen Feng was still their own daughter, and they couldn't bear to see her suffer mistreatment at the hands of the Shen family.
Old Chen shouted that he was going to settle accounts with Shen Honggang.
Old Mrs. Chen was a shrewd old woman; her eyes would dart around, and mischievous thoughts would emerge one after another.
"Go where? I don't believe that Gangzi will be able to stand up for himself after Dafeng leaves him out for a few days. His wife has run away, let's see how he lives! If you ask me, let Dafeng and Yuqin settle down and stay. In less than three days, Gangzi will definitely come to Dafeng with his things and beg her to come back! At that time, I will make him kneel down and apologize to Dafeng!"
"Yes, I won't go back unless he kneels down and kowtows to me three times! Let's see who loses face!"
Chen Feng was determined to win this game.
...
Just as Shen Jingyan finished applying the plaster to Grandma Xu, she saw Shen Honggang leading Gangzi to the forest farm.
Shen Honggang looked like a wilted eggplant, completely lacking energy and spirit.
Anzi was still sobbing, her eyes swollen like walnuts.
Without even guessing, Shen Jingyan knew that Chen Feng and Shen Yuqin had caused trouble at home.
"Jingya, do you have anything to eat? Get something for Anzi, a child shouldn't go to sleep hungry."
Shen Jingyan led Shen Honggang and An Zi back to her dormitory.
The glass in the dormitory rooms has all been installed. Old Xu somehow managed to buy the glass during the Spring Festival.
Now all that's left is to install one piece of glass in the kitchen.
Looking at the bright glass and the clean house, Shen Honggang felt a little better.
Shen Jingyan stir-fried shredded potatoes and pork, stir-fried the leftover rice from lunch with eggs, and also made a sauerkraut and pork soup.
As soon as the food was served, Anzi began to wolf it down.
Shen Honggang, however, had no appetite and his brows were furrowed like a pickled vegetable.
Shen Jingyan saw all this and had already made up her mind about what was going on between Shen Honggang and Chen Feng.
But she didn't plan to say it now; Shen Honggang needed to calm down.
"Uncle, please eat something, you can't go hungry."
The more disappointed Shen Honggang was with Chen Feng and her daughter, the more gratified he became when he looked at Shen Jingyan.
"Sister, I don't want to go home anymore. Can I stay here with you?"
Anzi asked while eating.
Children who have witnessed their parents arguing will often have a lasting negative impact on their lives.
The place Anzi least wants to be in right now is that messy house.
"You're so old, and you're still living in the same room as your sister. Aren't you ashamed?"
Shen Honggang reprimanded softly.
Shen Jingyan smiled and patted Anzi's head, saying, "It's alright, Uncle. I'll put up a curtain in the middle of the kang (heated brick bed), and Anzi and I will each sleep on one side."
Just then, footsteps came from outside.
"Jingya, are you home?"
"I'm here!"
Upon hearing Gu Zhiyun's voice, Shen Jingyan immediately jumped off the kang (a heated brick bed).
