Chapter 71 Tonight I'm on patrol, the usual spot.

Gu Zhiyun walked up to Sun Xiumei, looking slightly puzzled.

Sun Xiumei looked at Gu Zhiyun's handsome face and tall figure with great affection, no wonder her little girl cried and begged to date Gu Zhiyun.

It's a pity that Gu Zhiyun didn't take a liking to her youngest daughter.

Her youngest daughter is considered one of the prettiest girls in Dalin Village. Sun Xiumei used to think that Gu Zhiyun was just a city person with high standards and looked down on rural girls.

She advised her daughter to be more open-minded about relationships, saying that matters of the heart cannot be forced.

But Sun Xiumei realized today that it wasn't that Gu Zhiyun looked down on rural girls, but rather that her daughter didn't meet Gu Zhiyun's standards.

Just now in Shen Jingyan's room, Sun Xiumei saw it clearly: Gu Zhiyun's thoughts were all on Jingya.

From his initial worry upon entering the door, to his anger at Jingya being falsely accused, and his lingering affection before leaving, although he didn't say a word to Jingya or do anything out of line, his deep-seated love was impossible to conceal.

Sun Xiumei is different from Chen Feng. She is a reasonable person. Jingya is indeed more outstanding than her youngest daughter in every aspect. Standing next to Gu Zhiyun, they are a perfect match.

She believed that the two had feelings for each other, but did not believe that there was any improper relationship between them.

However, when young men and women are dating, things can easily go awry, so she wanted to offer some advice.

Sun Xiumei smiled gently at Gu Zhiyun and said:

“Xiao Gu, I know you’re from the city. The atmosphere in the city is more open than in the village. Free love is very popular where you are. We in the countryside are not old-fashioned either. We will not interfere with free love based on legitimate purposes.”

Gu Zhiyun sensed the hidden meaning in Sun Xiumei's words. He was a very perceptive person, so how could he not understand?

He nodded slightly and hummed in response.

"You have to let your family know if you're dating. If your family knows, they'll know what's going on. You absolutely can't be like Zhou Zhengqing and do those dirty things in secret."

Sun Xiumei's tone became slightly stern.

Gu Zhiyun said, "I'm different from him."

Sun Xiumei, in her dual capacity as the captain of the inspection team and an elder, offered a few words of advice and then left.

In the evening, Gu Zhiyun called An Zi, who was on her way to Shen Jingyan's dormitory for dinner, to come to the dormitory.

"Anzi, I really need to thank you for everything that happened today."

Gu Zhiyun said solemnly.

This formal expression of gratitude made Anzi truly happy.

He felt that Gu Zhiyun didn't treat him like a little kid, but rather took him seriously, which made him feel like he had grown up and was being treated with equality and respect.

"Brother Gu, it's only right that I help you!"

Anzi suddenly leaned close to Gu Zhiyun and whispered mysteriously in his ear, "I know you like Sister Jingya, hehe, in the whole Dalin Village, only you are worthy of Sister Jingya."

Gu Zhiyun's heart beat a little faster.

His love for Shen Jingyan is so obvious that even an eleven-year-old child can see it?

Was he too careless, or was Anzi too clever?

Seeing the worry on his face, Anzi quickly patted her chest and assured him, "Brother Gu, don't worry, I'd rather die than tell you your secret!"

Gu Zhiyun smiled, pursing his lips.

This child, though young, is of impeccable character; the upright look in his eyes is exactly like Shen Honggang's.

Then I think about that bastard Shen Yuqin. I really don't know how children born from the same mother can be so different.

Anzi spoke to Gu Zhiyun in a very serious tone, like an adult: "You have to be nice to my sister and don't bully her, or I won't let you off the hook!"

Gu Zhiyun smiled without saying a word, and gestured with his hand to indicate Anzi's height.

The little brat barely reaches his waist, yet he dares to spout such nonsense.

Anzi felt looked down upon, clenched her little fists and said, "Stop comparing! I'll grow taller! I'll surpass you sooner or later!"

Gu Zhiyun flicked his forehead with her knuckles: "Okay, I'll be waiting."

Anzi strained his neck to look up at the 1.85-meter-tall "mountain" in front of him.

The goal seems a bit too high...

"Anzi, I have something important to ask you to do."

Gu Zhiyun stopped smiling and took out a handful of walnuts from his pocket. "These are for your sister Jingya. Tell her to eat them tonight."

Anzi looked at the few walnuts that weren't very good quality and pouted, saying, "Brother Gu, if you're going to give my sister something, you should give her something good. The walnuts at my sister's house are much better than these."

Gu Zhiyun stuffed the walnuts into Anzi's pocket and reminded her again, "Your sister will definitely love them! Tell her she has to finish them tonight!"

Anzi didn't think much of it and left with the walnuts in his pocket.

Shen Jingyan was setting the food on the kang table when Anzi skipped in.

"Sis, what's for dinner tonight?"

"Stewed cabbage and tofu, stir-fried black fungus and eggs, cornbread, and rice porridge."

"These are all my favorite foods!"

Anzi washed his hands conscientiously and jumped onto the kang (a heated brick bed).

His palate had been spoiled by Shen Jingyan; he could hardly swallow the food Chen Feng cooked, and he ate at Shen Jingyan's place for every meal.

Halfway through the meal, Anzi remembered the important matter at hand.

He took out a small handful of walnuts from his pocket.

"Sister, this is what Brother Gu asked me to give you. He also said that you should eat it tonight."

Anzi lowered her voice and said.

Anyone who didn't know better would think the two were spies exchanging secret signals.

Shen Jingyan took the walnuts and began to ponder them.

"Eat tonight?"

When giving gifts, it's common practice not to specifically emphasize when to eat them.

Shen Jingyan placed the walnuts on the table and weighed them one by one.
