Don't blame me, An An

Don't blame me, An An

Anita took a deep breath and quickly sorted out her simple yet practical equipment with her hands. She carefully checked every buckle and every small item.

After confirming that everything was correct, she raised her eyes and followed Edmund without hesitation towards the flying ship docked in the square.

The flying ship is silver-white all over, and its smooth lines reflect a cold metallic luster in the sunlight, like a dormant beast, ready to strike at any time.

When Lauren pretended to be Edmund, he spent lavishly in various luxurious places, showing off his wealth, but he didn't even have a guard or entourage around him.

Because of this, Edmund's current situation is particularly embarrassing.

Considering the previous situation, it was really inconvenient for him to bring guards with him. After much deliberation, he finally decided to bring only Anrita with him.

After boarding the flying ship, Edmund strode to the main seat in the cockpit. He placed his slender and powerful fingers lightly on the operating console. He paused for a moment as if to calm his complicated inner feelings, then began to tap skillfully, using the contact information Lauren had given him before, trying to contact the person in charge of contacting Caster Island.

The communication was quickly connected, and an enthusiastic and exaggerated voice instantly filled the entire cockpit:

"Hey, Officer! Long time no see! Do you want to attend our auction this time?"

After the words fell, the voice added a hint of sarcasm, as if teasing an old friend:

"Didn't that female give you a deep grooming last time? Why do you need it again so soon?"

When Edmund heard this, his originally calm expression suddenly darkened, and a trace of barely perceptible disgust flashed in his eyes.

But he quickly adjusted his mood, suppressed his inner disgust, and calmly tested the situation:

"You know, the female I met last time was not to my liking. This time, I want to find someone who is more obedient and submissive, and who can satisfy me completely."

Edmund did not deliberately disguise his voice, because when Lauren pretended to be him before, she used an advanced voice changer, and the simulated voice collected by the intelligent brain was his original voice.

So at this moment, to the other party, there was no difference in the two voices, and the other party did not notice anything unusual.

The other party laughed out loud upon hearing this, his laughter was hearty and flattering:

"As expected of an officer, you're incredibly generous! Last time, I spent 200,000 star coins on a female I bought, but she wasn't satisfactory. But that's okay, our service tenet is to meet all our customers' needs. We guarantee your satisfaction! Let's meet at the usual place. I'll pick you up personally and make sure everything is arranged!"

Edmund hung up the phone, held the spaceship's joystick firmly with both hands, and pushed it gently. The engine made a low and powerful roar, and the spaceship slowly took off and flew towards the old place they mentioned.

Anrita wore a simple dark-colored dress, the hem of which swayed gently with her movements.

She concentrated her attention on suppressing her mental strength to the extreme, and every fluctuation was precisely controlled in a weak state.

As a result, any instrument would only be able to detect that her mental power was around D level.

It was for this reason that Begwe, after careful consideration, reluctantly allowed her to go with Edmund.

Edmund leaned slightly towards Anita and lowered his voice deliberately:

"An An, put on your mask first. When we get there, I might not be very nice to you in order to avoid exposing my identity. Please don't be angry with me, okay?"

At this moment, Edmund's eyes were full of doting and reluctance towards Anita. If Lauren's previous character creation was not so bad, how could he bear to have any evil intentions towards Anita?

He pouted slightly and looked at Anrita aggrievedly, like a child asking for candy:

"An An, you know I love you the most. If it weren't for the mission, I definitely wouldn't do this. You must understand me."

Looking at Edmund's cautious and worried expression, Anrita felt a warm feeling in her heart and couldn't help but chuckle.

She reached out and gently patted the back of Edmund's hand. "Don't worry, I understand. Things have their priorities. I won't blame you. I know you're trying to complete the mission and rescue Knox. I will cooperate with you."

Edmund felt a little relieved, but his brows were still furrowed.

His tone was filled with anger and helplessness, as if the emotions that had been suppressed for a long time had finally found an outlet:

"It's all that bastard Lauren's fault for causing this mess for me! He's been using my identity to do whatever he wants during the few months we were on the deserted planet!"

When Edmund thought about what was happening at home, he became very upset and excited.

"My stepmother has always indulged him and protected him no matter what he did. My father also listened to her. At the beginning, my father even said a few words to Lauren, but he didn't listen at all. My stepmother quarreled with my father again. After a few rounds, my father finally gave up and let him do whatever he wanted."

Edmund grew angrier as he spoke, his hands unconsciously clenched.

"Father originally thought Lauren was just having fun, hanging out with his friends, eating, drinking, and having fun. But he was taken to Caster Island and even involved in a black market auction! This is simply too much!"

He became increasingly emotional:

"Everything was fine at home, but he insisted on finding another wife, a wife with children. Not only did he cause trouble for himself, but he also implicated me! Has he ever considered how much trouble his actions would bring me? It's totally unreasonable!"

Anita sat quietly beside Edmund, now wearing a realistic mask that fitted her face perfectly, leaving almost no flaws.

Listening to Edmund's complaints, she felt helpless.

She soothed him softly, her voice gentle and calm, "It can't be helped. Although the males' mental strength needs to be appeased, your father's way of dealing with the problem is terrible."

Edmund sneered, his laughter revealing a hint of sarcasm:

"With his status and position, he could easily have gone to the White Tower to submit an appointment application. The service there is both standardized and reliable. He's simply leading an easy life and choosing to create trouble for himself by resorting to these unorthodox methods."

Edmund's relationship with his father was not good to begin with. When his father wanted to marry another woman, he was already very upset, and the father and son often argued about this matter.

Every quarrel left a scar on the already weak relationship between father and son.

Now that so many things have happened, Edmund is completely disappointed with his father, and the little family affection they had in the past has gradually dissipated in the midst of these twists and turns.

After experiencing this series of storms, the unpleasant memories of the past surged in Edmund's mind like a tide.

The father unscrupulously believed his stepmother, turned a blind eye to Lauren's misdeeds, and allowed her to impersonate his identity and do whatever she wanted.

Now he had to clean up this mess, and every one of them was like a sharp knife, cutting deep scars on the bond between Edmund and his father.

At this moment, Edmund looked at the starry sky flying by outside the window, with mixed feelings in his heart. The last bit of affection he had for his father quietly dissipated in this long ordeal, and he completely gave up.

Edmund slowly turned around and gently embraced Anita in his arms, resting his chin on the top of her head. His voice was low but firm:

"Fortunately, fate allowed me to meet you, my wife-sama. From now on, you are the most important person in my life and my only family."

"I never want to go back to that so-called home. There is nothing there except endless troubles and hurts."
