Chapter 21: The Paranoid Emperor vs. the Convicted Minister's Wife

Jia Nianchu was originally full of shyness and anticipation, but when Shen Yunxiao yelled at her for no reason, she was so frightened that her whole body trembled, her face turned pale, and her eyes were filled with tears.

She looked at Hua Wuyang and Hua Xuening somewhat helplessly, put down the bowl and ran out.

The Hua siblings felt helpless as they watched Jia Nianchu running away crying.

Jia Nianchu was deeply in love with Shen Yunxiao. She finally got the chance to visit him in the palace, but what she got was Shen Yunxiao's ruthless insults. How could she bear this?

Hua Xue Ning still held a glimmer of hope in her heart. She was a woman who had followed Shen Yunxiao to the battlefield. In terms of experience and courage, she was far ahead of these delicate ladies. She thought she was special in Shen Yunxiao's heart.

But when he saw Jia Nianchu being scolded and run away, he felt a little sympathy.

"Your Majesty, let me feed you the porridge." Somehow, calling herself a "maid" sounded delicate.

As soon as she finished speaking, a blush appeared on her face.

"Young General Hua, I thought you were different from those young ladies in the boudoir, but now it seems that I was wrong." Shen Yunxiao looked at her with a hint of disappointment, which made Hua Xuening's heart tremble.

"I acknowledge my guilt!" Hua Xue Ning quickly knelt on one knee and clasped her hands together.

Shen Yunxiao then nodded in satisfaction.

Jia Nianchu was scolded by Shen Yunxiao and was too embarrassed to save face, so he ran to the open space and saw Lu Jinyue standing under the tree.

"Lu Jinyue, you are a shameless woman, and a broken virgin. How dare you continue to stay with the emperor?" She just disliked Lu Jinyue and took out all the anger she had just suffered on Lu Jinyue.

Lu Jinyue was originally in a bad mood, and the more she thought about it, the angrier she became, so she kicked the sycamore tree next to her.

As a result, she kicked the paulownia tree lightly, which required two people to hug together, and broke it. The tree fell to the ground with a loud bang, and the ground shook a few times.

Jia Nianchu, who had just been cursing and was about to take action, was so frightened by this terrifying force that he fell to the ground.

"Are you calling me for something?" Lu Jinyue didn't hear Jia Nianchu scolding her. She lowered her head and saw Jia Nianchu sitting at her feet.

"I, I like to sit on the ground. What's it to you?" Jia Nianchu had the toughest mouth in her body. After she finished cursing, she forced herself to stand up and took two or three tentative steps. When she found that Lu Jinyue had no intention of chasing her to beat her, she ran away.

It snowed heavily last night. Although the ground has been swept, it is still wet and cold. Is Jia Nianchu crazy to like sitting on the ground?

Lu Jinyue didn't understand, but she wasn't too bored to chase after him and ask. She remembered that she should return the umbrella.

She was now filled with resentment even when she walked, and the palace maids and eunuchs passing by did not dare to provoke her.

She came to the bamboo forest again. This time the bamboo door was wide open, as if waiting for someone.

"Come in when you're here." The voice appeared again.

Although Lu Jinyue was curious, she didn't dare to show it too obviously. She walked in obediently with an umbrella.

At the end of the path is a small courtyard. Its gray tiles and white walls seem out of place with the splendor of the imperial palace, but they match the bamboo forest very well.

The house is a bit simple, made entirely of bamboo and wooden boards. Perhaps because the Lantern Festival had just passed, there are two red lanterns hanging under the eaves.

At the door were two followers in simple clothes, and the aura they exuded made people dare not underestimate them.

"Senior, I'm here to return my umbrella. Thank you for generously lending it to me yesterday." Lu Jinyue raised the umbrella above her forehead with both hands and said respectfully to the old man sitting in the wooden wheelchair.

"Put it down." He didn't seem to want to say anything more, but then he suddenly thought of something and turned his wheelchair to face her. "Are you a maid in this palace? Why haven't I seen you before?"

There are so many palace maids in the palace, it's normal that you haven't seen them before.

But she couldn't say that.

"I just entered the palace not long ago, so it's normal that you haven't seen me before." Lu Jinyue said a little embarrassedly.

The old woman nodded, and her attendant came up and took the umbrella from her hand and waited aside.

I don’t know why, but the old man in front of me looks very lonely, with wrinkles all over his old face, drooping eyelids, and dim eyes.

Lu Jinyue didn't dare to look at him anymore and turned away.

"Do you know what the scene is like in this palace?" He said, looking at his legs with a lonely look.

Lu Jinyue didn't know who he was, nor did she know why he was here. She only knew that the old man in front of her was full of the vicissitudes of life and unspeakable sadness.

Lu Jinyue recounted everything that had happened since Shen Yunxiao ascended the throne, and emphasized again that he had snatched someone else's wife into the palace, her tone quite resentful.

The old man laughed and said, "This guy has grown up. Such a cold-hearted person actually did such a thing."

"What's wrong with your leg?" Lu Jinyue couldn't help but ask.

"I was poisoned by a villain and was about to die. It was that bad boy who sought medical treatment everywhere and saved my life." When the old man said this, a light appeared in his eyes, which had originally been dull.

"You must be very important to the emperor." It was getting late, and Lu Jinyue stood up to say goodbye. The old man looked at her leaving back and a smile appeared on the corner of his lips.

He had been trapped here for a long time before he finally saw such a lively and interesting child. He suddenly wanted to see the outside world, but the time was not right.

He probably knew what was going on outside. After all, although his health was not very good, his intelligence network was still there.

Shen Yunxiao was out of the palace for dozens of days and led troops to encircle the former prince, and then came back seriously injured. He was heartbroken.

He was a little surprised that Shen Yunxiao had snatched someone else's wife.

After Lu Jinyue came out of there, her anger had mostly subsided, but she was very eager to know whether her family was safe.

Hua Wuyang and Hua Xuening just came out from inside, and the brother and sister looked worried.

"General Hua, I want to ask you something." Lu Jinyue called Hua Wuyang.

When Hua Xue Ning saw that it was her, she rolled her eyes at her.

When she met Shen Yunxiao, she happened to see that the girl who bullied him was a girl of the same age.

She had fought with Lu Jinyue to vent her anger for Shen Yunxiao, but this guy didn't react at all. Hua Ningxue felt both distressed and pity for him, and took him out to play every time she entered the palace.

However, she and Lu Jinyue had a grudge against each other, and it was not until Lu Jinyue married Ye Zhixing that the two gradually lost contact.

I had forgotten about Lu Jinyue, but I remembered it again when I saw her.

"Lu Jinyue, don't think I don't know what you are going to do. You bullied him before, and now you have to linger by his side. This must be a hard feeling, right?" Hua Xue Ning crossed her arms and looked at her arrogantly.

Lu Jinyue felt very annoyed. She picked up the man by the waist with an expressionless face, walked dozens of steps to the side, and threw the man away.

"Now that there are no more people getting in the way, can we talk now?"
