Chapter 5: The General with No Heir VS the Delicate Commoner

The news that the old lady gave Chi Yunzhi an emerald jade bracelet reached Qian's ears within a day.

She was so angry that she smashed her favorite tea set in the room.

After being beaten with a stick, Madam Xu couldn't get out of bed for ten days or half a month. Now it is Madam Liang who serves Qian.

"This Chi is really ignorant. She should have given the bracelet to you after getting it! You are still managing the huge general's mansion!" Nanny Liang said angrily.

Qian became even more dissatisfied with Chi Yunzhi.

She had been asking the old woman for that bracelet for a long time, but she didn't get it, and instead Chi got the advantage!

It’s really infuriating!

Qian didn't want to prepare a gift for Chi Yunzhi's return, so she sent a maid to Piaoxiangyuan and told her to take care of it herself.

Zhuyin was amused by this stingy behavior.

"She is the mistress of the house after all! She has to sit back and do nothing about the bride's return gift!" Zhuyin's face was still swollen, and when she said this, the wound was pulled, and she grimaced in pain.

"Just wait and see, there's a long time to go. Go and spread the news." Chi Yunzhi had just changed her clothes and sat down at the table beside the bed, picking up a copy of "Rules for Women".

She changed into home clothes in her own yard, looking like a delicate flower waiting to bloom.

After receiving the instructions, Zhuyin ran out to do the work.

Song Tingyue was just called over by his cousin to discuss something, and he came over now that the discussion was finished.

Chi Yunzhi was seen wearing a light red double-breasted short shirt and a rouge-colored brocade horse-faced skirt with beautiful round flowers. She looked noble, reserved and elegant.

The sunlight shone on her face, and her eyelashes, as long as butterfly wings, cast two fan-shaped shadows on her face.

Song Tingyue was dazzled for a moment and suddenly forgot the purpose of his visit as he stood there.

"Ting Yue?" As soon as Chi Yunzhi saw someone coming, she quickly put down her notebook and walked towards him with a smile on her face. "Lanxiang, quickly serve the meal."

It was already dinner time, and Chi Yunzhi naturally thought that Song Tingyue came to have dinner with her.

It was not until he was pulled to sit down that he remembered the purpose of his visit.

"I'm going to the camp in the afternoon, so you stay at home and learn how to manage the household from your mother." Song Tingyue realized his previous misconduct and quickly turned his eyes away.

"My dear husband, you can rest for three days. Why rush to go on duty?" Chi Yunzhi picked up some dishes for him and poured him some soup and put it aside.

Since the founding of the Longxing Dynasty, newly married husbands have been given the privilege of three days' leave, so when Song Tingyue raised this point with her, she was very confused.

"Women should stay out of men's business." Song Tingyue said with his neck stiff.

Chi Yunzhi didn't ask any more questions. She changed the subject and told some interesting stories.

"When I was little, I loved playing hide-and-seek with my brothers and sisters. When it was my turn to hide, they found me in the middle of the night. Wasn't it fun?" Chi Yunzhi was overjoyed.

Song Tingyue was eating by himself.

The Song family had no rule of not talking while eating or sleeping, so Song Tingyue didn't bother with her.

Throughout the meal, Chi Yunzhi was talking and he was listening.

After they finished eating and Song Tingyue left, Chi Yunzhi stopped smiling.

"Miss, why do you have to say all this in front of your husband?" Aunt Cui felt very distressed.

What was that? They found it in the middle of the night. They were not bothered to look for it at all. After Chi Yunzhi hid herself, they went out to play.

Not seeing her in the middle of the night, Aunt Zhou came out with a lantern to look for her.

"Madam, please stop talking." Chi Yunzhi wiped the corner of her mouth. "It's all in the past. I will never let anyone bully me like this again."

Aunt Cui nodded with concern.

Chi Yunzhi naturally would not stay in the mansion obediently.

She left the house with her maid and went to inspect the shop that carried her dowry.

Because her father felt a little guilty towards her, he asked Li to pick out a few shops for her as a dowry.

What kind of shop in a good location could Li give me?

They are just a few shops that are running at a loss.

After the inspection, even Lanxiang was so angry that she cried.

There was no customer inside at all, the shopkeeper and the waiter started drinking tea and chatting!

One of the shops Li gave her was a silk shop. When she went in, she found that the silk there was of poor quality, with outdated and old-fashioned patterns, and few young women would like it.

Chi Yunzhi stepped into Baoyun Pavilion. The shopkeeper, who was standing behind the counter with a sad face counting the bills, hurried out to greet him when he saw someone coming.

He took a closer look and recognized that this was the fourth young lady of the Chi family, and now his master, and immediately broke out in a cold sweat.

"I'm sorry for not welcoming you, Miss Fourth." The shopkeeper humbly wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.

It was so hot in April that he felt like he could never wipe off the sweat.

"It's okay. How's business lately?" Chi Yunzhi felt like she had asked a nonsense question right after she finished speaking.

Didn't she see at a glance whether this business was good or not?

The shopkeeper didn't dare to say anything, he just lowered his head and waited to be scolded.

"How dare you bring something like this to Princess Muyang? Is there no good stuff left in Baoyun Pavilion?" A sharp and piercing voice came from the second floor, and Chi Yunzhi stopped.

Princess Muyang is the daughter of Prince Ning. She has a straightforward and honest personality and is deeply loved by the emperor, so she was given the title at the age of fifteen.

The shopkeeper bent down even lower. Princess Muyang had been choosing for half an hour but still couldn't find the right one.

But Chi Yunzhi came again, and the shopkeeper felt that his work was done.

"Princess Muyang is picking something upstairs." The shopkeeper said with a stiff upper lip.

Chi Yunzhi nodded to indicate that she understood.

This princess is not easy to mess with, and I have a "reputation", so I don't know if I can catch the eye of Princess Muyang.

This was probably a challenge to her. Chi Yunzhi took a deep breath and stepped onto the terrace.

"We apologize for the poor hospitality. I hope Princess Muyang will forgive us." Chi Yunzhi greeted people with a small face and bowed respectfully when she saw them.

The movements are standard and just right, and no one can find any mistakes.

Princess Muyang was very angry. There were so many pieces of jewelry in front of her, but she didn't see any that caught her eye. She was really frustrated.

She was also blinded by greed and insisted on coming to this unknown little shop.

Now that she had seen the host, she was furious, so she didn't look at Chi Yunzhi in a good mood.

"Is this the only kind of stuff you have in your store?" Princess Muyang looked Chi Yunzhi up and down, with undisguised disdain in her eyes.

Chi Yunzhi came up with a smile and personally poured a cup of tea for Princess Muyang, but she didn't expect that she would also dislike her.

"This tea is worse than what the servants in our palace drink. I won't drink it!" She raised her chin like a proud peacock.

Chi Yunzhi was not angry either. After all, this was indeed a problem in the store.

"Are these jewels not to the princess's liking?" Chi Yunzhi picked up a gold hairpin inlaid with emeralds.

"These things of yours are all out of date! What good things hasn't our princess seen? Isn't it an insult to bring these out?" The maid beside Princess Muyang rolled her eyes after saying this.
