Chapter 188 Miscarriage
Fu Jingyou went to the team to harness the oxen to the cart, while Lu Miao sat in the main hall of the He family waiting.
She couldn't stop shivering just by sitting there. Chen Guifen poured her some hot water and brought out the quilt she used to sleep in at home.
He Hongjin asked, "What are you doing with that thing?"
Chen Guifen said, "It's such a long way to the county, won't it be cold on the way? Miao girl, please cover yourself."
He Hongjin lowered his head and smoked his pipe without saying anything.
Fu Jingyou quickly harnessed the ox cart, and He Hongjin looked up and asked him to take the quilt and spread it out.
Then he went into the house and asked Chen Guifen to give him money.
Chen Guifen gave him two pieces.
He Hongjin held the two-yuan bill and counted it carefully, then held out his hand to Chen Guifen:
"Take three more."
"Will that be enough?"
It only costs five cents to see a doctor at the town clinic, but there is a big hospital in the county, so two dollars should not be enough.
Chen Guifen muttered something, but she didn't slow down in taking the money.
He Hongjin frowned and said:
"Bring more insurance. If you go now, you won't be back until tomorrow morning. People have to eat."
Chen Guifen nodded and simply drew a neatly arranged big unity card and gave it to him:
"Take it, and bring it back if there's any left."
He Hongjin nodded.
Outside, Fu Jingyou had already carried Lu Miao into the car and came over to call him.
"Uncle?"
"Here I come."
He Hongjin took two bamboo hats, one for him and one for Fu Jingyou, and then they took the lantern and went out together.
The mountain road was slippery and difficult to walk on due to the snow. Only when we got outside and onto the recently repaired highway did the ox cart move a little faster.
But even so, it took four hours to reach the county after shaking all the way.
It was completely dark, and ice chips had formed under He Hongjin's nose.
He was tying up the cow downstairs, while Fu Jingyou carried Lu Miao into the hospital first.
The county hospital is a small three-story building with gray walls.
The township clinics and health rooms cover all medical expenses for five cents. The brigade that cannot cover the expenses will receive subsidies. Registration at the county level costs five cents.
Fu Jingyou was holding Lu Miao. The situation looked quite serious, so the nurse led him directly to the ward on the second floor.
After Lu Miao was laid down, the doctors came over to check on him, and then the nurse pushed Fu Jingyou to pay the registration fee.
It was He Hongjin's first time at the county hospital, and he felt a little lost when he entered the lobby.
Seeing Fu Jingyou coming down from upstairs, he hurried to meet him.
"What's wrong? What did the doctor say?"
"I'm still looking at it. They said I need to pay the registration fee."
He Hongjin followed Fu Jingyou awkwardly and bewilderedly:
"What, what's the registration fee?"
"It should be the consultation fee..."
They chatted for a while and got a number. When they went upstairs again, the door of the ward was closed.
There was a nurse guarding the door, preventing them from entering:
"The director said this is a gynecological problem, you can't go in."
"What's this about paternity and maternity? Doctor, how is my child doing now?"
He Hongjin didn't understand, but he was also a little worried.
Lu Miao cried most of the way during the several hours' walk, which showed that he was in great pain.
Seeing that he was a farmer, the nurse thought he wouldn't understand even if she explained, so she didn't bother to explain:
"The director didn't say anything! Just wait!"
Fu Jingyou helped He Hongjin sit down beside him. He said nothing, but frowned. His two big hands were clasped together, rubbing and clenching.
He Hongjin thought about it for a long time but couldn't figure it out. He looked at Fu Jingyou and asked:
"What is paternal disease? I've never heard of it before... How could this woman get such a mysterious disease?"
Fu Jingyou shook his head and wandered around the door like a headless fly.
The nurse in white glanced at He Hongjin, shook her head helplessly, and thought to herself:
"If gynecological diseases don't affect women, then who else does? Men? They talk strangely..."
In the ward, the chief doctor listened to Lu Miao's chest and abdomen with a stethoscope:
"What kind of pain does it feel?"
"It was just a twitching sound, as if something was falling down."
After listening to Lu Miao's explanation, the doctor put away his stethoscope and tried to take her pulse.
After two or three minutes of hesitation and no results, the doctor asked again:
"When did your period come last?"
Lu Miao answered the question truthfully, and the doctor then asked whether it was usually accurate.
After Lu Miao answered one by one, the attending doctor was about to pull down her pants.
She struggled to her feet with some discomfort, "What are you doing... Can you please not take off your pants? I'm coming... and I'm wearing a menstrual belt."
The attending physician said truthfully, "Your condition is very likely a miscarriage. I can't feel your pulse because you're too young. Now I need to see the color of your menstrual blood."
The words "pregnancy and miscarriage" stunned Lu Miao.
She was stunned, and the doctor had already pulled down her pants.
The blood is light red in color, how can this be the color of menstrual blood?
The doctor asked Lu Miao to put on his pants himself and basically confirmed the result.
"Have you had sex recently?"
"I fell this afternoon... It wasn't a serious fall, I just tripped and sat on the ground."
Lu Miao shook his head and shuddered. Tears welled up in his eyes and he couldn't stop the tears from flowing out.
Is she pregnant?
She felt like she wasn't even grown up yet, so how could she possibly get pregnant?
But the facts are before our eyes...
She didn't even realize that there was a new life in her body, and even now she just realized it, the doctor announced that she had a miscarriage?
Because of the wrestling in the afternoon?
"The first three months of pregnancy are the most unstable. You're only about five to six weeks pregnant now... Don't cry yet..."
Seeing her crying so hard, the doctor said:
"I see the blood on your menstrual pad has dried up and is only the size of a fingernail. If you want to save it, you can still do so."
Lu Miao nodded with tears in his eyes.
The doctor advised her to calm down and then left the room.
Normally, there aren't many people coming to the county hospital for treatment, and there are even fewer people on a snowy day like this, late at night.
As soon as they left the ward, the doctor saw Fu Jingyou and He Hongjin and said:
"Are you the patient's family? The patient is currently experiencing bleeding and is showing signs of miscarriage. The situation is not optimistic..."
"What?"
Fu Jingyou and He Hongjin suddenly became alert.
He Hongjin's eyes widened like bells. "Pregnant, pregnant... miscarriage?"
I fell when I was going back home in the afternoon, and then I lay in bed complaining about stomachache.
He Hongjin didn't understand at first, but after hearing what the doctor said, he understood everything.
Isn't this a sign of miscarriage?
He Hongjin scratched his head, feeling angry and anxious at once, not knowing what to say.
Fu Jingyou nervously approached the doctor:
"How's the lady? She cried out in pain on the way here..."
The doctor nodded and said, "The fetus seems unstable. This is a sign of miscarriage. Stomach cramps and pains..."
"From what the patient said, he's leaning towards keeping the baby. I came out to ask your family's opinion."
