Chapter 11 The rain just jumped up on its own.

This year's lack of rainfall has dried up many rivers and canals, leaving little water in any place. A large fish like the one Han Yu'an is holding is something that hasn't been seen for over half a year.

Liu Meie regretted coming with a fool to look for fish.

Isn't this a waste of time?

Just as she was regretting it, the dense forest suddenly opened up, and a low-lying pond appeared before her eyes.

There wasn't much water in the pond, and most of the surrounding area was dry. Only the bottom had some water left, and the fish were jumping up one by one because of the lack of oxygen.

Everyone was stunned. Is this even possible?

Just as Liu Meie was wondering what was going on, a big fish suddenly jumped down to her feet.

"Wow, what incredible luck! What are you waiting for? Hurry up and collect the fish!"

After a group of people had been busy for half a day, both baskets were full. At this time, Cui Yulu noticed some remaining lotus leaves around, indicating that this was likely a wild lotus pond.

So she took off her shoes and socks and went into the mud to feel around.

"What are you doing, kid? It's cold, why are you going down into that muddy pond?"

Liu Meie quickly stopped Cui Yulu, trying to get her to come up.

"Auntie, there's something in this mud, something really delicious."

As she spoke, a section of lotus root about the size of a forearm emerged. At that moment, her strength increased dramatically, and she dug out the entire lotus root.

A large black fish was also brought out along with it.

Liu Meie wished she could run home right now to find her husband and bring all these good things home.

Unfortunately, I'm stretched thin and also afraid of losing these children.

The weather in September was already quite cold. After digging up a few lotus roots, Cui Yulu was called up.

"Let's make a mark, and come back to those guys when we have time tomorrow."

Suddenly, a little squirrel jumped to Cui Yulu's feet and gestured with its tiny paws.

Cui Yulu looked at it; it was very cute, with big, dark eyes that seemed to have something to say to her.

So she reached out and picked it up in front of her. The little guy didn't resist and just looked at her obediently.

"Let's go back, it'll be dangerous here soon."

Cui Yulu reminded everyone to quickly pack their things and leave.

"Could it have told you that?"

"intuition."

It was indeed the little squirrel that told her, but she couldn't tell Liu Meie and the others, and she couldn't explain why she could understand its words.

The group was covered in mud, and Cui Yulu's clothes were soaked through. The sun was out in the woods, and they were freezing cold.

Han Yu'an saw that his wife was trembling all over, so he took off his own clothes and put them on her.

"I'm not cold, you can wear it."

"My wife is cold, but I am strong."

Han Yu'an smiled foolishly, but his expression of heartache for Cui Yulu was genuine.

Cao Qiaoni was a little envious; her own man didn't know how to cherish her at all.

The little squirrel kept gesturing with its tiny paws, looking very anxious, but it just wouldn't leave Cui Yulu's shoulder.

Soon, guided by Cui Yulu, they left the forest.

The moment they stepped out, they heard a deafening roar of a tiger.

"Luckily we made it out, otherwise we would have been tiger food."

At this moment, Liu Meie was completely convinced that Cui Yulu had special abilities and was a child who could bring good luck. No wonder the old lady was willing to spend eight taels of silver to buy her back.

Cui Yulu became even more convinced that what happened during her coma was real, and that she had indeed inherited the good fortune of a koi fish, as well as medical skills.

So she had an idea, thinking of trying it on Han Yu'an that night.

Cao Qiaoni didn't need to say anything; from the first moment she saw Cui Yulu, she felt that this person was very special and looked like someone who was blessed.

Unbeknownst to them, the Han family was already in a panic and about to report the matter to the authorities. As soon as they stepped into the village, they saw Liu Xiuying and Niu Niu waiting at the village entrance.

Han Daping, Han Hu, and Han Bao were organizing the villagers to go up the mountain to look for them.

When Liu Xiuying saw them return covered in mud, she was first startled, and then a shoe sole flew over.

"What have you been doing with the kids, you scoundrel? You've even learned to fight! You're quite something."

Liu Meie cleverly dodged the question. Upon hearing her mother-in-law's words, she knew that the second wife's family must have come to the house to cause trouble.

Considering the second wife's opportunistic nature, it's easy to see why she's been so angry after being beaten and struck by lightning. She'll likely keep causing trouble for their family.

"Mom, if you still get angry after seeing what we found, hurry up and go home."

Liu Meie mysteriously invited them to go home together.

Han Daping was already angry, and now that he saw this woman still talking nonsense, he wanted to go home and beat her up.

"Yu'an, aren't you cold? Did you fall into the water or something?"

Liu Xiuying had already seen the terrible state of the second wife and her husband after being struck by lightning, and knew that it was because of the fight with them that they were struck by lightning.

Could it be that they fell into the water? Heaven can't punish only one family, can it?

That's probably how it is. Thinking this way made Liu Xiuying feel a little better. If the second wife came to cause trouble again, she could say that her family had also fallen into the water. Falling into the water in this cold weather is no joke.

"Grandma, it's all my fault. My clothes got dirty and wet, so Yu'an gave me his clothes."

"Oh, Grandma didn't mean to blame you. I'm so glad that Yu'an can take care of you. He's really grown up."

Liu Xiuying's face showed both heartache and happiness.

The moment they stepped into the house, Liu Meie closed the door, bolted it, and, still feeling unsafe, propped the door shut with hoes and other tools.

Cui Yulu couldn't help but laugh at her appearance, but since everyone was used to living in poverty and had never seen so many things before, they naturally had to be careful.

"Liu Meie, what kind of trouble are you causing now?"

Han Daping looked at her angrily, his fists hardening, wanting to hit her.

But when he saw what was in her basket, he instantly lost his temper.

Good heavens, this is a whole basket full of matsutake mushrooms! How much money could this fetch?

I had only heard that the Yu family in the village had once picked matsutake mushrooms and sold them in town for three taels of silver. Now that my own matsutake mushrooms are big and fresh, I'm sure I can sell them for more than they could.

Han Daping was overjoyed. He grabbed Liu Meie and jumped up with excitement, almost kissing her. This woman was finally of some use.

"There's more, look."

So Han Yu'an, Han Chunying, Cao Qiaoni and Cui Yulu all put down their baskets.

"Madam, is this a fish?"

Niu Niu's sweet voice rang in everyone's ears as his chubby little finger pointed at the lively carp in his basket.

"You wouldn't believe it, but all these fish jumped up on their own."

As Liu Meie spoke, her face was full of pride, but Liu Xiuying knew in her heart that all this good luck was brought to her family by Cui Yulu.

He grew increasingly fond of his granddaughter-in-law.
