Chapter 20 Being Disliked for Dressing Poorly

On the wide streets, there were vendors carrying goods on shoulder poles and others delivering goods by car; the various shouts and calls mingled together, creating a lively scene.

Han Yu'an looked around curiously. If Cui Yulu hadn't been holding him back, he probably would have gotten lost long ago.

The streets were lined with shops of all kinds, and pedestrians came and went in an endless stream, with all sorts of sounds filling the air.

Han Chunying was also seeing this scene for the first time, and quickly grabbed her mother's arm.

"Mom, this city is really nice. How about we buy a house here when we have money in the future?"

Liu Meie glanced at her sideways: "Keep dreaming. With our family's meager income, buying a house here is probably a dream come true in our next life."

Like a bucket of cold water being poured over her head, Han Chunying pouted disapprovingly: "Mother, have you forgotten why we came here this time? To sell mountain products and exchange them for money."

Liu Meie glared at her naive daughter: "How much silver can we sell all this stuff for? Do you know how much a house here costs?"

Han Chunying fell silent after being doused with cold water by her.

He could only turn around and look at Cui Yulu.

Cui Yulu didn't know how much the houses here cost, but she was quite interested in buying one.

"Chunying, don't worry. Once I have some money, we'll buy a big house in the most prosperous area here, with a room for each of us."

Han Chunying originally disliked Cui Yulu, but after the incident where lightning struck the second wife, she felt that this sister-in-law was someone she could befriend, and that she could really get rid of her if necessary.

Especially after seeing her revive a dying person with just a few needles today, she became more and more convinced that her sister-in-law's words could come true.

"Okay, then I'll rely on my sister-in-law to support me from now on."

"Aren't you ashamed? You're old enough to still want to stay at home? Dream on."

Before Cui Yulu could speak, Liu Meie interrupted her fantasy.

Speaking of age, Han Chunying is a year older than Cui Yulu, so she is also at the age to be discussing marriage.

However, Liu Meie was ambitious and didn't want her daughter to marry one of the rough men in the village. She was determined to find a man from a wealthy family so that she could live a more comfortable life in the future.

"Look, this is Zuixiaolou, the most luxurious restaurant in Jingyuan Town."

The group looked up at the grand and magnificent building across the street; it truly lived up to its reputation as the premier building in Jingyuan Town.

"Rain and Dew, do you think they'll even acknowledge us if we go in like this?"

As she got closer, Liu Meie felt increasingly panicked and frightened. Although her clothes were the best in the house, the fabric had been washed until they were faded and worn, making her look worse than the passersby on the street, let alone the high-ranking officials and nobles inside.

Of the four people, only Han Chunying's clothes were without patches, but they were made of outdated material.

"Let's go. We're here to bring them business, not to compete in beauty contests. Let's just go in openly and honestly."

Cui Yulu walked at the front and was the first to enter the restaurant.

The waiter saw them come in and jogged over to greet them: "Please come in, ladies."

"Brother, we're not here to eat, we're here to sell things."

The waiter looked Cui Yulu up and down. The girl was pretty, but her clothes were definitely not something one could afford to buy here.

Although he didn't show it on his face, Tai Dui's expression turned somewhat cold.

"Young lady, do you know what kind of place this is? The people who come here to eat are all important and influential people. We may not have all the delicacies in the world, but we have almost all of them. What do you have to sell to us?"

Seeing the change in the waiter's attitude, Cui Yulu naturally understood that he looked down on them, the villagers.

However, she wasn't angry. In this world, people always respect clothes before they respect people, and their clothes were indeed out of place here.

Once you're out, be sure to buy some nice fabric to make some clothes. The weather is about to change, so you need to prepare your winter clothes in advance.

"Brother Er, do you have any eyes to look at our things? Do they meet your standards?"

The waiter already looked down on people from the countryside, so why would he bother to examine the things they brought?

Without even lifting his eyes, he glanced at the fish that had splashed water all over him, and his anger flared up instantly.

"Oh dear, what kind of rubbish have you brought? Take it away right now, or you'll get my clothes dirty and you won't be able to afford to pay for it."

The blackfish, which was originally on the verge of death, is now nourished by the spring water in the space and is jumping around as if it had just come out of the water.

"Our fish is fresh, take a closer look."

Seeing that the other party didn't recognize her value, Han Chunying raised her voice considerably.

"Hey, you country bumpkins, are you here to cause trouble? Get lost and don't delay our business."

The waiter's voice also rose considerably, and his eyes widened like copper bells, which was quite eerie.

"Why are you so ill-tempered? With a waiter like you, this restaurant is sure to have a bad business."

Han Chunying angrily retorted, her momentum no less than that of the waiter.

"I'm in charge today, so get out of here."

The waiter made a move to kick them out, and at that moment, the diners in the restaurant all gathered around to see what was going on.

When they saw this big fish, they were all amazed. They had never seen such a big snakehead fish before. Some diners even offered to buy it on the spot.

“Miss, would you like to sell your fish to me? My young mistress has just given birth to a young master and needs this snakehead fish to nourish her body. I see that your fish is very plump and delicious, perfect for making fish soup. Since they don’t want it here, why not sell it to me? The price is up to you.”

Cui Yulu noticed that the man's clothes were very elegant, indicating that he was a person of high status and would naturally be wealthy.

However, she didn't want to overcharge too much, as she wanted to maintain a fair price.
