Cui Yufang strutted forward, her heart filled with joy. This was twenty taels of silver—a sum that many families couldn't accumulate in their entire lives.
"What are you doing, you brat? Why are you only getting here now?"
"Mother, didn't you see?"
Cui Liu was angry and had no interest in looking at her.
"Look at my head, what's that?"
When Cui Liu looked up, she exclaimed, "Oh dear, am I seeing things? That's a gold hairpin!"
"Quickly show this to your mother. She's never seen such a fine hairpin in her old age."
Cui Yufang proudly took the hairpin off and carefully placed it in Cui Liushi's palm.
"Mom, please don't break it for me."
"Don't tell me you'd break it. Look how exquisite and beautiful the workmanship is, isn't it?"
Cui Liu nudged Han Jinling beside her with her elbow, her face full of smugness.
Looking at the gleaming gold hairpin, Han Jinling couldn't help but feel envious. The Han family was so wealthy, and she wished she had a daughter.
"Mother, hurry up and give it to me. Where are Cui Yulu and the others? I want them to see this good thing of mine."
Cui Liu returned the hairpin to her daughter, then glanced at Han Quan beside her. She noticed that his eyes were fixed on her daughter, not moving an inch.
She was overjoyed; as long as she could win this man's heart, she would never have to worry about not having good things in the future.
Just then, Cui Yulu and her family came out of the fabric shop, chatting and laughing as they were about to buy some more things. It wasn't easy for them to come out, so they wanted to buy as many things as possible.
"Hmm, what a coincidence to run into you here again."
As Cui Yulu spoke, she stroked the hairpin in her hair.
"Yeah, that's really bad luck."
Cui Yulu led everyone to try to cross from the other side, but she still stopped them.
"Oh, why are you leaving as soon as you see me? Come on, let's have a good chat."
Cui Yulu didn't understand why she kept touching her head, and what was even more unusual was that she wanted to talk to her. What was she talking about?
"What's wrong with your head? Do you want me to give you some acupuncture?"
"You, hmph, didn't you see the gold hairpin in my hair? It's worth twenty taels of silver."
Seeing that they were ignoring her, Cui Yufang had no choice but to speak up herself.
"Tsk tsk, how extravagant! It's such a waste to wear twenty taels of silver on your head."
Cui Yulu and Cao Lan ignored her; Cao Lan found her smug look disgusting.
"You, just say you're envious. I bet your silly husband can't afford it. Oh, right, he doesn't understand these things at all."
After she finished speaking, she covered her mouth and laughed, and Han Quan laughed along with her.
"Yes, yes, how could that idiot know any of this? All he knows is eating, drinking, and defecating. He's a complete waste."
"Say it again, who is this piece of trash?"
Cui Yulu swept a cold glance over him, and Han Quan felt a tingling sensation all over his body. Oh no, was he going to lose control of his bladder again?
Sure enough, a warm liquid dripped down her feet and onto the ground, and a strong smell of urine spread around her.
"Tsk tsk, look at you, laughing at others is worse than others. It seems you need to see a doctor properly. You're quite ill, and if it gets any worse, it will affect your happiness."
Cui Yulu covered her nose with her hand as she spoke: "You're probably feeling hot. Go back and drink more water to speed up your fluid circulation."
Everyone around her covered their noses, and Han Jinling was choked by the smell: "Han Quan, is something wrong with you? You should go see a doctor right away. You're only nineteen years old, you have a long life ahead of you."
Han Jinling looked at Cui Yufang with some sympathy; just a moment ago she had been filled with envy, but now her face was full of mockery.
Humans are just so fickle.
Cui Liu glared at Han Jinling: "If you can speak, then say a few words; if you can't, then shut up."
After saying that, she looked at Han Quan with concern and asked, "Are you alright? Should we go see a doctor?"
Han Quan's face turned a deep purplish-red, and he glared fiercely at Cui Yulu: "Was it you? You're a vixen?"
Cui Yulu looked at him innocently: "How could that be? What does it have to do with me if you wet your pants? It's your own health that's the problem. I think you're not even as good as my husband."
After speaking, she glanced at Han Yu'an, only to see him looking at her with great interest. She could only stick out her tongue and lower her head.
"You guys should tidy up properly. The fabric shop is over there. Hurry up and change your clothes. If you're sick, you need to get treatment."
Cui Yulu glanced at Cui Yufang, whose face had darkened, and said, "Let you be so smug. You'll get a slap in the face for being so cocky."
Cui Yufang originally wanted to show off her gold hairpin, but unexpectedly she saw Han Quan wet his pants again, and the good impression she had just built up vanished without a trace.
She kept her distance from him, her face full of disgust.
"Mom, look at that big brother, he's so tall and he's still wetting his pants, how embarrassing."
A little boy grabbed a woman and loudly mocked him. Han Quan wished he could find a crack in the ground to crawl into right now.
"Let's go quickly. He's probably an idiot. You can't be like him."
"Yes, Mom, don't worry, I'm not wetting my pants now. I'm much better than him."
The little boy glanced at Han Quan with a smug look on his face, and made a face as he left.
Han Quan clenched his fists in anger, while Cui Yufang, standing to the side, was even more disgusted.
This time, Han Quan hated Cui Yulu to the core, wishing he could tear her to pieces. He was determined to make that bitch suffer a fate worse than death.
"Oh dear, don't just stand there! Hurry up and go to the fabric shop to buy some ready-made clothes to change into, you all stink."
After all that commotion, no one was in the mood to go shopping anymore, so they had to go with Han Quan to change their clothes. After they changed, Guo You's carriage arrived at the entrance of the cloth shop and waited for him.
