Chapter 7 The Appearance of the Koi Fish Physique

Han Yu'an didn't sleep well that night, seemingly having nightmares, sometimes whispering and sometimes crying.

Cui Yulu slowly approached him, placed her hands on his body, and gently patted him.

He soon stopped crying and whispering, and fell into a deep sleep.

Cui Yulu sensed a force resisting her from his body, indicating that the reason for his mental impairment was definitely not as simple as falling on his head.

There must be an even bigger mystery hidden behind this.

However, judging from the Han family's situation, it wasn't much better than the Cui family's. That money was the old lady's money for her coffin, and they would definitely save it up for her in the future.

I've spent a lot of money taking care of myself these past few days; I guess my savings are all gone. The weather is getting colder and colder, and there are fewer animals on the mountain. Life is tough.

As Cui Yulu pondered these thoughts and listened to Han Yu'an's soft snoring, she gradually drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, she got up early, thinking of making breakfast for her family.

As soon as I entered the kitchen, I saw my grandmother busily working.

The old lady looked at the rice and flour bins with worry. The grain was almost gone, and she guessed she would have to borrow some more from the second wife's family to get through the winter.

Seeing her worried expression, Cui Yulu thought how wonderful it would be to have meat to eat. She really craved meat, as she had never been able to eat any meat, even during holidays like the Lunar New Year.

"You've just recovered, why don't you rest a little longer? What are you doing out here? I'm here."

"Grandma, is there no food left at home?"

Liu Xiuying lowered her head somewhat embarrassed. She had spent too much money before, and now she had no money to buy food, so she was destined to have a hard time for a while.

"Grandma is sorry, I may not be able to keep the promise I made to you. Please don't leave Yu'an, okay?"

"Grandma, what are you saying? You've all been so good to me, I won't leave because of this. It's just a little tough, but as a family, we'll definitely make our lives better together."

Upon hearing this, Liu Xiuying felt that her efforts over the past few days had not been in vain; this child was someone who knew how to be grateful.

He was becoming increasingly satisfied when he heard two knocks at the door.

Liu Meie had just gotten up. Knocking on the door so early in the morning couldn't be anything good.

So he shouted irritably, "Stop knocking! What are you doing so early in the morning?"

She walked towards the door, yawning as she buttoned her clothes.

He opened the door but saw no one. Just as he was about to get angry, he looked down and saw two big, fat rabbits lying on the ground with their eyes rolled back.

Liu Meie peered through the door, looking left and right. Only when she saw no one around did she dare to slip the rabbit inside.

"Oh my god, what a stroke of luck! Two big rabbits have been knocked unconscious right at our doorstep."

Hearing her shout, Liu Xiuying quickly came out of the kitchen, wishing she could stuff the sole of her shoe into her mouth.

These days, life is tough for everyone. People have been eating nothing for a long time, and when they see a mouse, they wish they could put it in their mouths and savor the meaty taste.

This silly woman actually started shouting, as if she wanted everyone to know what was going on.

“This tigress, shut your mouth, I’m not deaf, I can hear you.”

Liu Meie then realized the problem and quickly shut her mouth, but she still couldn't suppress her excitement.

"Mom, this rabbit weighs seven or eight pounds. In these awful years, Da Ping and his men can't even catch a rabbit like this when they go up the mountain to hunt. It's like it's delivered to our door today. What do you want to eat it? I'll go boil some water right now."

Cui Yulu couldn't help but laugh as she looked at her impatient aunt.

"You're so impatient; look, you've made the child laugh."

Liu Xiuying took the rabbit and weighed it in her hands. It was indeed quite heavy; she had never seen a rabbit like this before when hunting.

"It's all thanks to the rain and dew; good things will follow the bride as soon as she enters the house."

Cui Yulu didn't want to take credit, but her grandmother insisted on pinning it on her, which made her feel a little embarrassed.

However, she vaguely felt that it was related to her as well, but this matter still needs to be verified.

When it comes to food, Liu Meie doesn't fuss too much. If it's dew, it's dew; after all, the whole family will eat the meat.

"Yes, Yulu is blessed. What do you think of Han Bao? How about you being my aunt's daughter-in-law?"

Liu Xiuying glared at her fiercely; if the ground hadn't been cold, she would have definitely given her two slaps with the soles of her shoes.

While in a deep sleep, Cui Yulu kept hearing her name being called Han Bao, but she had never seen Han Bao's face.

She blushed and lowered her head: "Let's not. Yu'an is very good to me."

Liu Meie continued, "Yu'an is a good boy, but you two aren't a good match. My Han Bao is good-looking and caring. If you and Han Bao get together in the future, we'll take care of Yu'an just the same, okay?"

"Are you ever going to stop? Go cook me some food."

Liu Xiuying picked up a broom and hit her. This eldest daughter-in-law was good in every way, except that she loved to take advantage of others and was stingy about everything.

After learning that he had spent eight taels of silver to buy Cui Yulu, he was determined to marry Cui Yulu off to Han Bao, hoping to save as much money as possible.

"Rain and Dew, think about it carefully."

Cui Yulu found it somewhat amusing to watch Liu Meie run away so quickly; this aunt was actually quite adorable.

"Mom, what are you all doing? You've woken me up."

With her messy hair and sleepy eyes, Han Chunying excitedly cried out when she saw the big rabbit in her mother's hand.

"My God, where did this come from...?"

Before she could finish shouting, Liu Xiuying covered her mouth.

"Just like your mother, you can't keep your temper in check. This is all thanks to your third sister-in-law. The rabbit that ran to our house this morning, are you afraid others won't hear it? Be careful your second grandmother and the others don't snatch it away."

Han Chunying became quiet after that; she hadn't eaten meat in a long time.

We can't let the second branch of the Han family take it away.

"Grandma, are you sure you're not mistaken? She's a jinx, how could she possibly bring us good fortune?"

This was the first time Han Chunying had seen Cui Yulu alive and standing. She was a good match for her third brother, but she was so thin and looked like she was not lucky.

Cui Yulu blushed at the comment, because that was indeed how people called her back in Yushan Village.

"I, I am not a jinx."

She retorted softly that she could bring good fortune to her family.

"That's what everyone in your village says. Your mother died when you were born, your father was killed because of you, your second uncle broke his leg because of you, your sister broke her ribs on your wedding day, and..."

Han Chunying wanted to continue speaking, but unexpectedly, she was hit twice on the buttocks with a broom.

She jumped up in pain.

"Grandma, why did you hit me again? I was just telling the truth."

"You're talking nonsense, I'm not a jinx."

Cui Yulu's face turned red with anger, and suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck the clear sky.

Finally, it landed at Han Chunying's feet, startling her so much that she trembled all over. What was going on?
