Chapter 76 Being Called a Prostitute

Zhao Guifang had no desire to argue with the mother and son any further. She knew in her heart that something must have happened to her son, otherwise how could Cui Yulu have returned unharmed?

Liu Meie shouted loudly as she watched her hurried figure, "Slow down, be careful not to twist your ankle."

No sooner had she finished speaking than Zhao Guifang cried out and sat down on the ground.

She glared angrily at Liu Meie and said, "What nonsense are you spouting, you heartless bastard? I'll tear your mouth apart in a minute."

Liu Meie saw her fall and laughed as she pulled Cui Yulu inside, leaving Zhao Guifang alone on the ground, bewildered in the wind.

When Cui Yulu came in, she met Han Yu'an's concerned gaze.

"What happened?"

Cui Yulu didn't intend to hide it, so she told her family everything about Han An's attempt to sexually assault her.

Enraged, Liu Xiuying slammed her fist on the table: "This family is a bunch of scoundrels! They're supposed to be scholars, yet they've done such despicable things. They deserve to be struck by lightning!"

Han Yu'an just stared at Cui Yulu in silence. Was it really as Fu Xiaoyu said, that he couldn't protect her at all?

No, he can protect his wife.

"Han An looks so refined on the outside, but I never expected him to be so filthy on the inside. It seems I really overestimated him before."

"How noble could that second wife's family be? Birds of a feather flock together, they're bound to be bad."

Han Bao was eating chestnuts when he spoke, but after being glared at by Liu Meie, he quickly slunk back to the yard to continue chopping firewood.

"You don't need to worry, I've already taken my revenge. He should be having a hard time now."

When Zhao Guifang limped to the riverbank, Han An had already fainted from the cold. It took him a lot of effort to pull Han An ashore.

"An'er, my child, what's wrong with you? Don't scare your mother."

Her cries attracted the attention of a carriage, and Han Quan quickly jumped off.

After three days of being surrounded by excrement and urine, Han Quan felt that his whole body smelled of excrement and urine, and he really didn't want to go out and see anyone. He hated Cui Yulu, that little bitch, even more.

"Mother, what's wrong? What happened to my eldest brother?"

"Quan'er, you've come at the right time. Don't ask so many questions yet. Let's get your brother into the car and go home first."

With that, Han Quan carried Han An on his back and put him on the carriage, then drove the carriage back home in a flash.

This caused quite a stir in the second branch of the Han family, with arguments and curses filling the air.

Han Chunying happened to be passing by their door when she saw the doctor go in. She assumed someone was sick and rushed home to tell her mother so she could have some relief.

"Mother, Mother, has the second branch of the family been struck by lightning again? Why are doctors here?"

“You brat, I haven’t seen you all day. Where have you been? From now on, you should go with your sister-in-law when she goes out. I don’t feel comfortable leaving her alone.”

After scolding Han Chunying, Liu Meie entrusted her with this important task.

“Mother, I have my own things to do. I still need to embroider handkerchiefs. I don’t have time to spend with my sister-in-law.”

Han Chunying picked up a white steamed bun and started eating it.

"No time, huh? Then skip the meal and give me the steamed bun."

Liu Meie snatched the steamed bun from Han Chunying's hand and threw it back into the basket.

“Auntie, I’m fine. I can protect myself. Besides, Roubao is with me. I’m sure everything will be alright.”

"Sister, I'll go out with you from now on. I'm strong enough to teach bad guys a lesson and protect you."

Abu held a white steamed bun and looked at Cui Yulu with a smile. He had grown a lot taller recently. Although he was only six years old, he had almost reached Cui Yulu's chest and was much stronger than before.

He did most of the housework, and he was even stronger than Han Bao.

"Okay, Abu is the best, so will you protect your sister from now on?"

Abu jumped up excitedly: "Great! I'll follow my sister around every day from now on. If anyone bullies her, I'll break their legs!"

Abu's expression was exactly like Liu Meie's when she was throwing a tantrum.

"Mom, look how you've corrupted little Abu. The way he spoke just now was just like you."

"You brat, can't you shut your mouth even when you're eating?"

Han Yu'an remained silent, his face growing even more somber.

Seeing him like this, the whole family stopped talking. When Han Yu'an was acting like a fool, everyone thought he was easy to get along with, but now they suddenly realized that he had a natural sense of intimidation.

They always felt that this child didn't belong here, and he didn't resemble his father at all. They guessed he looked like his mother, but Han Erzhu never told them who his mother was until his death.

He only said that he would take good care of the child so that he could die in peace.

"From now on, I will protect the rain and dew."

The room fell silent upon hearing this, and even Han Chunying, who was usually fond of joking, dared not utter another word.

"Oh, I'm not a child. I can protect myself. Look, I got Han An into the water today. He might not drown, but it's enough to give him a hard time, isn't it?"

"My husband's main task now is to study hard. Next spring, we'll go to town to find a tutor so he can tutor you. Then you can take the imperial examination, become the top scholar, and I can be the wife of a top scholar."

Cui Yulu gestured with her small hands, saying that if she followed these steps one by one, she would soon become the wife of the top scholar, wouldn't that be wonderful?

"Look how well our Yulu has planned things. Yu'an, you can't let Yulu down."

The mention of going to the city instantly perked Han Chunying up: "Sister-in-law, can you take me with you when you go to the city?"

"What are you doing in the city, a little girl like you? I'll just find you a good family to marry into next year, and that will save me from worrying about you all the time."
