Chapter 271 The Real Her (He)

When An Moxue came out of the room, Wu Sicheng had already peeled the sweet potatoes and roasted goose eggs he had taken from the fireplace and placed them on two plates. There were also knives and forks next to them, and a pot of black tea had been brewed.

Looking at the exquisite and beautiful plating, An Moxue realized that Wu Sicheng had managed to make this down-to-earth snack feel like a high-class meal. An Moxue wondered, is this the real you, or a disguise?

When Wu Sicheng saw An Moxue come out, he asked, "Have you packed everything?"

"Yes, don't worry, no one but me can find it. It's absolutely safe," An Moxue said confidently.

"Okay, let's talk while we eat." Wu Sicheng pulled out the chair in front of An Moxue, gesturing for her to sit down.

An Moxue didn't stand on ceremony or feel embarrassed at all. She accepted the question as if it were a perfectly normal question, "Have you eaten?" and sat down.

Wu Sicheng wondered to himself, what kind of extraordinary people are Mo Xue's parents? Mo Xue is so familiar with and adaptable to these typical European etiquettes. Could any other girl do the same?

The answer is definitely no.

After An Moxue sat down, Wu Sicheng sat down opposite her, picked up his knife and fork, and began to eat elegantly. After taking a bite of sweet potato, Wu Sicheng said, "Where did you get this sweet potato? It's quite sweet."

An Moxue thought to herself, "How could it not be delicious? This is from my space. I didn't originally intend for you to eat it, but you happened to be here. You left it after such a polite remark so late. You're shameless!"

But how could she say that? She said, "I just bought this on the street, and I'll go home as soon as I finish eating!"

Her way of eating was quite different from Wu Sicheng's. She picked up a piece of goose egg with her fork, took a bite of the egg, sipped some black tea, and then complained, "This goose egg would be better if it were roasted a little longer. The egg white isn't crispy enough. And your black tea is a bit too strong. I prefer it a little weaker."

Wu Sicheng ate his food slowly and deliberately, saying, "I'll pay attention next time; I'll definitely brew the black tea weaker."

Looking at Wu Sicheng like this, An Moxue asked, "Is this the real you, or a disguise?"

Wu Sicheng looked at her, smiled, a smile as gentle as a spring breeze, and said, "If you think it's the real me, then it is the real me. If you think it's just a disguise, then it is a disguise."

"Oh." An Moxue was curious about this, but she was too lazy to think about it; there was no need to.

"Mo Xue, I feel like you've changed a lot in the year we've been apart. How come you're the one I'm meeting this time?" Wu Sicheng was full of questions.

An Moxue didn't answer his question directly, but said, "Why can't it be me?"

"That's true, I should have thought of your temporary assignment a long time ago. When are you going back?"

Wu Sicheng looked at her. The girl was using a fork to pick up a piece of sweet potato and put it in her mouth. It seemed that after leaving the country, she no longer concealed her appearance at all, especially in Russia and Serbia. At this moment, she was wearing her hair loose, with slightly curly long hair, a floor-length dress, and a thick shawl. She had a lazy style, like a noble lady who had stepped out of an oil painting. But looking at the way she ate, she was completely casual and natural, doing whatever made her happy. Perhaps this was closer to her true self. The environment in China still restricted her personality.

"I'll be back then. What, is there something else?" An Moxue looked at him, puzzled.

Things weren't going to happen that quickly to begin with. An Moxue still had some things to do. She had already done most of the investigation in the past few days and had the information in hand. She was thinking about getting back to her own business, so it would take a few more days before she could return home.

"It's nothing, I was just thinking that you should go back sooner so you'll be safer. There are risks here, after all."

Looking at her nearly empty plate and Wu Sicheng's plate, which still had more than half a plate of food left, An Moxue thought to herself, "This guy is getting more and more cunning."

If he weren't surrounded by enemies, or if this guy weren't so serious...

An Moxue pulled her wandering thoughts back and thought that she was still more suited to being alone, without any ties or burdens, but she was really smitten by his looks.

Wu Sicheng watched An Moxue staring blankly at him, wondering what she was thinking. He thought to himself, "Looks like I still need to protect my face. It's still somewhat useful. Look, after a year apart, she's staring blankly at my face."

At the same time, he was also a little worried that An Moxue might lose interest in his face once she saw another face she liked!

After all, Russia has no shortage of handsome men and beautiful women.

But he could only worry about these things in his heart and couldn't say them out loud.

An Moxue gave an "Oh," casually took a sip of her black tea, and asked, "Have you been here ever since you left last year?"

"Hmm, how have you been this past year?" Wu Sicheng looked at An Moxue. He now knew a little about this girl. She wouldn't tell anyone about her hardships and bitterness; she would only bear them silently. But looking at her current complexion, she should be alright. Her face was rosy and radiant. Expecting her to tell him about her troubles was unrealistic, but he still wanted to ask.

“Not bad, quite exciting.” An Moxue raised an eyebrow and replied casually, but “quite exciting” was definitely not exciting in the ordinary sense; it should be quite dangerous.

"Are you injured?" Wu Sicheng asked.

"Hmm?" An Moxue looked at him in confusion.

"I asked you if you were injured?" Wu Sicheng looked at An Moxue.

"Oh! No." The response remained indifferent.

"Take this time to explore and relax. You won't have this much freedom back in China," Wu Sicheng sincerely advised An Moxue.

"Hmm, let me ask you something. If we want to apply to Puda University, do foreigners like us need a recommender? If not, we can't take the exam?" An Moxue thought about what Kasha had said to her after they returned to the hotel that day.

“Yes, there must be a recommender, and this person must have a certain status and position,” Wu Sicheng replied.

Karl's identity is truly extraordinary; he spoke of it very casually that day.

"So, what are your plans?"

“I want to apply to Puda University, as Jido.”

"What, do you want to come back after this trip?" Wu Sicheng became very serious this time.

"Yes, I'm planning to do that. So, I want to take the entrance exam for Puda University and wait for the results before going back to plan my next steps."

“Domestic, I mean…” Wu Sicheng didn’t say it explicitly, but An Moxue understood that he was asking if it could be arranged domestically.

"It's all up to human effort; I think it should be possible."

Wu Sicheng could tell from her confident expression that she had a plan.

He wanted to ask her something more, but seeing her yawn, Wu Sicheng thought she might be sleepy. He glanced at his watch and said, "It's too late, I'm going back. You should get some rest." With that, he ate the last bite of the goose egg and took a sip of tea.

An Moxue glanced at her watch; it was already three in the morning, which was indeed quite late.

She didn't try to stop him and watched Wu Sicheng leave.
