Chapter 339 Dining Room and Hall

After finishing her morning of studying, An Moxue returned home. As soon as she opened the door, she smelled the enticing aroma of fish and meat wafting from the kitchen. Walking over, she saw Wu Sicheng busily working.

He heard the voice, looked up at her, and said, "You're back. Just one last dish of fish soup and we'll be ready to eat." Then he lowered his head again and continued with his work.

An Moxue put down her schoolbag, washed her hands, and asked, "What did you do?"

"Spicy fish head, tuna with fermented black beans, steamed fish fillets, pan-fried salmon, plus a fish ball soup, and rice as the main dish."

"Do you need my help?"

"need."

An Moxue looked at him, puzzled, and asked, "What?"

"eat."

An Moxue thought to herself, "Is this what you call helping?" She looked at him with disapproval in her eyes. What kind of help was this?

He looked at her and smiled, a satisfaction in his eyes that she couldn't decipher. "Just prepare something delicious."

His survival gave him a different perspective on life, and even on his relationship with her. Nothing is more important than living well, and there has never been a time when he knew more clearly her place in his heart, even though she didn't know it.

But so what? It's his business if he likes her, and it's also his business if he wants her to be well.

He should do his best for her while he can. The outcome is important, but not the only thing.

An Moxue blurted out, "Your cooking skills are getting better and better, does your mother know?"

"I don't know, only you do."

As soon as Wu Sicheng replied, she regretted it. What kind of question was that? She had the feeling that she had buried herself in the sand and really wanted to slap herself.

Wu Sicheng looked at her somewhat annoyed expression, wanting to laugh but not daring to, and lowered his head, struggling to hold it in.

After a while, Wu Sicheng felt a little awkward and, trying to make conversation, asked, "How are you doing? Are you keeping up with your studies?"

An Moxue was also a little uncomfortable and said, "It's alright, but I don't know why, the old professor in our department keeps a close eye on me all day long. I can't slack off at all. That old man, I went to see him yesterday without resting after I came back, and he just kept asking me questions during class this morning. He must have a grudge against me!"

Seeing her resentful expression, Wu Sicheng said, "Alright, stop being angry. Eat your food; the soup is ready."

"Finally, we can eat." This morning was like fighting a battle. The little food she ate in the morning had long been worn away by the intense studying. She was starving, and the aroma of fish filling the room made her feel like she could eat a whole fish.

Wu Sicheng first served An Moxue a bowl of fish soup and said, "Try it and see if it suits your taste."

"It looks perfect! The milky white broth and the round fish balls look delicious." She hadn't even eaten yet! Just saying that would make any cook happy, especially Wu Sicheng.

Looking at the radiant smile on her face, he couldn't help but smile along.

"You haven't eaten yet!" he said, handing her another bowl of rice.

An Moxue took the bowl of rice and asked, "How did you make this fish soup?" She was really curious; the milky white fish soup looked so gentle and warm.

Wu Sicheng smiled and said, "First, fry the crucian carp in a pan until both sides are golden brown and the fish bones are crispy. Then crush it, boil it, and simmer it over low heat until the soup turns milky white. Then filter out the fish residue with cheesecloth, and then add salmon balls to the soup."

"This soup uses two kinds of fish!" An Moxue took a sip and said, "Fish and mutton, just as expected." Then she ate a fish ball and praised, "Delicious, bouncy and without any fishy smell, very fresh and refreshing."

Seeing that she enjoyed the food, Wu Sicheng said, "Eat as much as you like."

"Mmm." An Moxue took another bite of fish, not having time to talk to him, and just focused on eating the fish.

Seeing that she was engrossed in eating, Wu Sicheng stopped talking, only occasionally serving her a bowl of soup or picking the bones off the fish in the plate.

After finishing her meal, An Moxue's belly was round and full. She sighed and said, "Eating is more enjoyable when there are two of you. Eating alone is not only boring, but even if the food is good, there is no sense of satisfaction. It seems that good things are better shared."

Wu Sicheng thought to himself, "That's true. Having dinner with someone you like is a pleasant thing, and time just flies by."

"How was it? No one came looking for me this morning, right?"

"No. Wait here, I have something for you." After saying that, Wu Sicheng got up and walked towards the bedroom.

An Moxue watched his retreating figure, wondering curiously, "What is it? Do I have to pay for it?" Well, it's not impossible; who would complain about having too much money?

But when she saw Wu Sicheng come out carrying a stack of boxes, she became even more curious. What was it?

Wu Sicheng placed all the boxes on the coffee table and said, "Open them and take a look."

An Moxue looked at him, then at the box, and asked, "Is it all for me?"

"Yes, of course, let's open it and see." She was now a little curious about what he could give her!

An Moxue stood up, took the first box, opened it, and inside was a bright red dress with a cinched waist and a large skirt. An Moxue fell in love with it at first sight.

"Why did you think of giving me a red dress?"

"The first time I saw you on the train, I saw how thin you were and I felt that this girl should not be so delicate. Your eyes were full of stubbornness and strength. Later, I felt that you were suitable for wearing bright and colorful clothes. You should live freely and unrestrainedly. I felt that this dress should be yours as soon as I saw it. Moreover, you can wear it out here, unlike in China, where you have to be careful about what you eat, wear and use."

"Wait a minute, let me try it on." An Moxue happily went inside to change her clothes.

He knew she loved beauty so much, and he was sure she would like the clothes she liked.

When An Moxue came out wearing a dress, her hair was also slightly curled into big waves, and her hair was loose and hung down to her waist. She had a heart-shaped hair clip with rhinestones on her head, and she also wore light makeup and bright red lipstick.

Her bright and flamboyant energy was like that of a pampered young lady from a noble family, proud and confident. She immediately captivated Wu Sicheng's attention. He stared at her intently. He had always known she was beautiful, but she still exceeded his expectations. He felt that she was like an ethereal spirit who could leave at any moment, giving him a sense of unreality.

Seeing Wu Sicheng's performance, An Moxue secretly felt smug. "I'm still pretty!"

She walked towards him, stopped a short distance away, and asked, "Is it pretty?"

She stared at her intently, without blinking, and said, "Beautiful!"

"Would Mr. Wu like to invite Miss An to dance?"

"Yes." Wu Sicheng said, turning on the DVD player next to the sofa, then walking up to An Moxue and extending his hand in invitation.
