Chapter 716 Catching Rats (12)

Wu Sicheng said seriously, "If you have any doubts, just go and verify it, and you'll know everything."

An Moxue said, "You also think it's possible, right?"

"You stay on defense, I'll go check it out," Wu Sicheng said, climbing up the train carriage to the outside of the window, and then down the tracks to the bottom of the train.

Wu Sicheng clung tightly to the bottom of the train like a suction cup, then slowly crawled deeper into the carriage. Just when he thought An Moxue was overthinking things, he was horrified to find a time bomb at the bottom of the carriage. It looked like a homemade bomb, not a military-grade one.

He gripped the bottom of the car tightly with one hand, his foot also wedged firmly into the chute. He reached down to his waist with the other hand and carefully pulled out a dagger. He looked at the bomb; thankfully, the timer hadn't been activated yet, indicating that the enemy hadn't found the detonation point.

He carefully pried open the device securing the bomb, sweat streaming down his face. He didn't dare relax for a moment. Finally, one of the bombs was pried off.

An Moxue waited anxiously at the train carriage connection, counting down the time. She had never felt time drag on so long; waiting was agonizing. Suddenly, she remembered something Wu Sicheng had once told her—

She remembered that time when she asked him how his cooking skills had improved so quickly. What was his answer?

She remembered him saying that every time she missed him and had nothing to do, she would think of the dishes he liked to eat, and then when she had time, she would learn to cook them. If she didn't know how, she would ask someone to teach her. Gradually, without realizing it, her cooking skills improved, and time didn't seem so unbearable anymore.

She hadn't thought much of it before, but now she suddenly understood how he felt back then—every minute and second felt so long and agonizing.

She counted the time on her watch, finding the minute hand so annoying; she wished it could spin as fast as the second hand.

Wu Sicheng, under the car, continued his arduous journey with the defuse bomb in his hand. Not far away, another bomb appeared in front of him.

Wu Sicheng carefully put away the first bomb and began to defuse the second bomb.

After dismantling the second bomb, his right hand was trembling slightly. Holding the two bombs, he continued forward and finally reached the connecting point between the carriages. He took a deep breath, then carefully climbed onto the door and into the connecting point between the carriages.

An Moxue looked at the man standing in front of her. His face was flushed, sweat dripped down his cheeks into his collar, his clothes were slightly wrinkled and dusty, and his hands were trembling slightly as he held two bombs. She could tell that he was trying his best to hide them from her.

Seeing her furrowed brows, he felt uncomfortable and teased, "What? Worried about me? Look what I've discovered! Your suspicions came at just the right time, otherwise we would be in big trouble, and the consequences would be unimaginable. My Mo Xue is truly amazing!" As he spoke, he even raised the bomb in his hand, as if to claim credit.

An Moxue rarely saw him act so childishly, and she burst out laughing, the gloom dissipating.

Seeing her radiant smile, Wu Sicheng's mood instantly shifted from exhaustion to elation, as if he had found the motivation to do anything. He said, "That's right! This is the An Moxue I know. I didn't like the way you were just now."

An Moxue rolled her eyes at him rather inelegantly and muttered under her breath, "I was just worried about you. That's under a train. No matter what, the train is going very fast. It could be very dangerous if you're not careful, okay? Besides, you're a human, not a god."

His face was full of satisfaction, like a peacock spreading its tail feathers, and he said, "I know, I'll be more careful for your sake."

"Stop joking, alright, let's get down to business. Where did you find these two bombs?"

"The enemy must have located these two things roughly below our sleeper berths after we boarded the train, based on our exact position. Your suspicions are very timely."

An Moxue never expected that a chance guess would yield such a result.

She said, "Tear it down? Otherwise, I'll always be living in fear."

Wu Sicheng said solicitously, "Could I trouble Comrade An? I'd like to take a break."

An Moxue didn't expose his little scheme. Pretending not to see his trembling hands, she said narcissistically, "Alright! I'll have to be the one to rely on in this crucial moment."

Wu Sicheng suppressed a smile as he looked at her.

An Moxue took the bomb, facing out the car window. Wu Sicheng stood behind her, wrapping her up very tightly.

If someone comes by, they'll just assume the two are whispering to each other and will quickly walk away, feeling embarrassed.

An Moxue held the bomb in her hand, first weighing it in her hand, and said with a self-deprecating smile, "They really think highly of us, as if they're afraid it's too light and won't blow people into the sky!"

Then, she picked up the dagger and started cutting the wires. She was the fastest and best at dismantling these homemade bombs that hadn't yet activated their timer. She had dismantled many of them back in the training camp and reassembled many herself, so she was extremely familiar with them.

Soon, the two bombs were dismantled. An Moxue said, "Let's make use of these things and put them together. Maybe if we run into them again, we can give them back. Who knows? What do you think?"

He thought her suggestion was excellent!

"good!"

The two men concealed the disassembled bombs on their persons and then calmly returned to the carriage.

Back at the base, looking at the captured enemy, An Moxue asked Wu Sicheng, "Do you think they knew about the bomb?"

Wu Sicheng glanced at them and said, "Most of them don't know; they're just a bunch of cannon fodder in other people's eyes."

She glanced at them and agreed, saying, "Indeed."

The soldiers in the carriage were no ordinary people. Judging from the expressions on An Moxue and Wu Sicheng's faces when they returned, and the time they had left, they knew that something must have happened. They looked at the two of them with questioning eyes.

Wu Sicheng silently mouthed two words: "Bomb."

Everyone stared at him, wide-eyed. He pointed to the bottom of the car and mouthed, "Take it apart."

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Why was Comrade Wu speaking with such difficulty breathing?

An Moxue called over two people and whispered something to them for a while. Then, the two people took the bomb clone that An Moxue had dismantled and returned to their bunks to get busy.

Wu Sicheng watched her behavior with amusement in his eyes. The fake Yang Yuning muttered to himself, "I can't bear to watch, I can't bear to watch!"

Wu Sicheng could tell what he was thinking just by looking into his eyes, and in his heart he looked down on him again, thinking he was a lifelong bachelor.

An Moxue pulled him to sit on the bed and said, "I've been reading a medical book recently, can I borrow your hands for a moment?" As she spoke, she took his arm and began to knead it.

Wu Sicheng felt a surge of warmth, and then his entire arm felt much better and more comfortable. He gently said to An Moxue, "Moxue, thank you."
