An Moxue took the Guanyin statue home and began to examine it.
When she inspected the base, she noticed something was off. She felt that the base wasn't a single piece, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.
Then I looked at Guanyin's hands. Her left and right hands were exactly opposite. Why is that?
Normally, this shouldn't happen. There are only two possibilities: either the casting was wrong without the person realizing it, or it was a deliberate mistake made out of necessity, a desire to preserve some secrets, and a hope that future generations would be clever enough to recognize it and not bury the good stuff.
An Moxue felt that, judging from the craftsmanship of the bronze statue, it should belong to the latter category.
What's the connection between the hands and the base?
She thought for a long time, then suddenly realized, slapped her forehead, and realized that since her left and right hands were reversed, the base should also be reversed.
Instead of thinking it over and over, she immediately did as she imagined.
I pressed my finger under the base and twisted the base. To my surprise, the base moved.
She carefully twisted the base, and after turning it around once, a small round copper piece fell out from the center of the base, and then the entire base fell down.
The hollow body was exposed, with something sealed with wax inside.
An Moxue took out the item, removed the wax seal, and inside was a piece of silk with a faint sandalwood scent. There was a map drawn on it, and a few words next to it: Maple Leaf Zen Temple.
It seems there really is a secret, but I didn't expect it to be revealed so easily.
An Moxue had no recollection of this temple. She put away the silk, thinking that she must look for it again in the future to see what was hidden inside.
With today's gains, An Moxue had a clear goal for her daily schedule, and she would visit that inconspicuous little antique shop every few days.
Little by little, I became familiar with the shop's staff and the shop owner.
"Miss Jiduo, are you here to look at antiques again today?" The shop assistants greeted An Moxue familiarly. They were all very friendly to her because every time she came, she would buy an item, which she called treasure hunting.
“Yes,” An Moxue said, and began her treasure hunt again.
But today, after looking around, she couldn't find anything she liked, and she couldn't help but show a disappointed look. The shopkeeper saw all of this and knew that this Miss Jido was a rich person.
Isn't he in this store looking for potential big clients?
He felt he had observed this Miss Jido well enough. Not only was she wealthy, but she was also from Mongolia and supposedly of noble birth. In particular, she had a great fondness for antiques and never haggled over prices. How could he possibly turn down such a rich and naive person? She was only here to give him small change, and she would soon be giving him much more.
An Moxue, unwilling to give up, wandered around again, this time clearly showing disappointment, and then pushed open the door with some frustration.
The shopkeeper's manager called out to her just in time, "Miss Jiduo, please wait."
An Moxue stopped in her tracks, thinking to herself, "My efforts weren't in vain. Look, they've finally arrived." But her expression remained unchanged as she turned to look at the manager.
The manager smiled and said, "Miss Jiduo, please speak further." An Moxue glanced at him but didn't say anything.
Then she walked towards him, still with that good-natured demeanor, and asked, "The manager called me over, is there something you need?"
The manager, with a sincere expression, said, "I noticed Miss Jido didn't choose anything today. Is there a reason?"
An Moxue glanced at him, and he felt there was more to that glance than met the eye. Before he could think further, she spoke, "It's nothing, I just wanted to buy some things I liked, but it seems like none of these are meant for me today. Oh well, I'll go back!"
As An Moxue spoke, she turned to leave again.
"Wait, Miss Jiduo," the manager said urgently. Then he smiled and said to An Moxue, "Miss Jiduo, what's the rush! I haven't finished speaking yet!"
An Moxue remained indifferent and said, "Please speak."
"I have a connection that might be able to find what Miss Jido is looking for. I wonder if Miss Jido would be interested?"
An Moxue knew that these people were always cautious, so she couldn't help but show a look of delight, and then asked nervously, "Are you sure it's not something illegally obtained? If it is, I dare not go."
The manager rolled his eyes inwardly, thinking to himself that you can't really say that. If he can fool you once, he can fool you countless times. Just based on your obsession with these things, you can't escape.
The manager, with a straight face, spouted nonsense: "How could that be! We're a legitimate business. It's just that the items there are quite valuable, so we haven't displayed them in the shop. I wonder if Miss Jiduo would be interested?" He looked at her, his eyes full of sincerity.
An Moxue thought for a moment and said, "Guaranteed high quality? All legal?"
The manager then proceeded to spout nonsense with a straight face: "Yes, don't worry, it's guaranteed to be top-quality, all legal." The manager had thought this person was somewhat intelligent, but it turned out to be a complete idiot.
How do I get there?
The manager looked at An Moxue and said, "I'll give you a invitation. Take this invitation to the address I've given you, and someone will meet you there. I guarantee you'll be satisfied."
"Okay! Thank you, manager, please give me the post now!"
"Okay, please wait a moment." The manager turned around, took a card from the counter, came out from behind the counter, and handed the card to An Moxue.
An Moxue took the note, opened it, and looked at it. She couldn't see any obvious features, so she asked with some doubt, "Is this thing useful?" The implication was that this thing was really useful.
The manager sighed, "It works."
"Okay, I'll go tonight. It's all very mysterious. I hope it won't disappoint me." After saying that, An Moxue took the invitation and left the room.
A moment after An Moxue left, the manager thought to himself smugly, "I tricked him onto this pirate ship, or rather, this luxury ship. He's just waiting to hand over his money."
An Moxue stepped out the door and breathed a sigh of relief. She had finally made progress. These people were too cunning and difficult to deal with. She could only try to deal with them slowly and gradually, like boiling a frog in lukewarm water.
Soon, night fell. An Moxue dressed neatly and stepped out of the house, exuding an air of nobility. She stopped in front of a door.
An Moxue looked around but didn't find anything special, and she couldn't see anything unusual about the door either.
She knocked on the door, and after a short while, the door opened, and a kind-looking old man came out and asked, "Young lady, what can I do for you?"
An Moxue reached out and handed over her invitation.
