Wu Sicheng was busy for several days, and finally the matter was resolved. He raised his hand to rub the back of his neck, thinking of An Moxue, and a bright smile unconsciously appeared on his face.
I wonder if she's been mistreated at school these past few days?
The power of rumors is truly bizarre; sometimes they can take a person's life. Although I know she is very strong, I can't help but worry.
He raised his hand, glanced at his watch, and realized he still had time to get to school before her get out of class ended and then take her out for dinner. He quickened his pace, tidying up the things on the table.
As he was driving past a movie theater, he noticed a young boy carrying a basket of flowers, trying to sell them to couples watching the movie.
He stopped the car and walked over. The boy saw Wu Sicheng in military uniform walking towards him from afar. He stopped selling flowers and ran to the other side with his basket.
The couple beside him were still wondering what was going on. They hadn't even bought the flowers yet! Why had they run off?
When he saw Wu Sicheng running after him, a knowing look flashed in his eyes.
Seeing the people running very fast, Wu Sicheng shouted, "Don't run! Wait!"
The boy thought to himself, "If I don't run, am I just waiting to be caught? Only a fool wouldn't do that!"
But how could he possibly outrun Wu Sicheng, a soldier of exceptional skill?
He grabbed his shoulder and asked, "Why are you running? I told you not to run, but you kept running."
The boy broke free a few times, but seeing that he couldn't escape, he stopped struggling and acted as if he didn't care, which amused Wu Sicheng.
He explained helplessly, "I just want to buy a few flowers, nothing else. How much are your flowers?"
The boy looked at him suspiciously, his eyes full of uncertainty.
"Really," he said, taking five yuan from his pocket and putting it in the basket, then asking, "How much are the flowers?"
The boy looked at him, then at the money, and asked, "Are you really just buying flowers?"
Wu Sicheng urged, "Hurry up, I'm in a rush to pick up my girlfriend from school and then go out for dinner!"
The boy whispered, "Fifty cents a stem." He knew it was expensive, and said somewhat hesitantly, "These flowers are rare, they can't be cheap."
"Hmm." Wu Sicheng picked out the eleven best and most vibrant flowers, saying, "How about buying ten and getting one free?" Although it was said in a consultative tone, the flowers had already been chosen, so it was more like an announcement than a discussion.
"Sure, sure." The boy put away the five yuan and nodded happily. He usually only sold flowers for a minimum of three mao (0.3 yuan), and most people would only buy one. But he bought a whole bunch. Why not? He wished he could meet more customers like him every day!
Wu Sicheng asked, "Are you selling them every day? Or every few days? When are they sold?"
"I will sell here for a while, whenever there is a movie screening."
Wu Sicheng fiddled with the flowers with his fingers and asked, "Are they all this kind of rose?"
Yes, there are red, pink, and yellow ones.
"Okay, I got it. Go sell them!" he said, pointing to the couple who were still waiting to buy flowers.
After saying that, he took the bouquet of flowers, got into his car, and drove away.
The boy who bought flowers walked up to the couple and said apologetically, "I'm sorry! I thought he was here to arrest me! I didn't expect him to be here to buy flowers too."
The girl looked at her boyfriend and said somewhat unhappily, "Look at him, he just throws out a huge bouquet of flowers, and the key is that he's so good-looking."
The boyfriend retorted, "Why don't you mention that he drives a Jeep, which is obviously a military vehicle, and his clothes have four pockets, which means he's an officer? His salary must be several times mine. If I were earning that much, I wouldn't even bother to buy you a flower."
"You're still talking back! I only asked you to buy one, not a whole bunch! You're complaining, but I'm the one who's complaining!" the girl said, her eyes red.
Seeing that the girl was about to cry, the man quickly apologized: "Can I buy two? If I buy any more, I won't be able to buy you sunflower seeds and soda."
"I'll give you a discount of one cent, and you'll have enough money to buy melon seeds. Sister, please don't be angry with this brother, okay? I won't make any money off you today; I'll give you the cost price, okay?" The flower-selling boy said, with a hint of grievance and pleading.
The girl chuckled and said, "Okay!"
Then she started picking out flowers, and said to her boyfriend in a somewhat fierce tone, "Pay up the money!"
"Hey, hey, take it out." The boyfriend said, quickly taking out some money, all in one- or two-cent coins, the largest being a five-cent coin, and a few one- or five-cent coins, then counting out nine cents and handing it to the flower-selling boy.
At this moment, the girl also picked out the flowers, and the two of them went to buy melon seeds and soda together.
The flower-selling boy watched their retreating figures and muttered, "That was close, I almost missed out on ninety cents." Then he started looking for a new target.
When Wu Sicheng drove to the gate of Kyoto University, there were still ten minutes before An Moxue's get out of class ended.
He took out the dagger he carried with him, picked up a rose, and carefully and meticulously removed the thorns and leaves from the stem. After finishing one, he picked up another, and after all eleven roses were repaired, he gathered them together, took a thin rope from a nearby compartment, and tied the flowers into a bunch.
Then, he looked at it again and again, feeling extremely satisfied. He took the flowers, got out of the car, straightened his clothes, and stood at the car door looking towards the school gate.
The gatekeeper, Lao Liu, happened to see Wu Sicheng holding flowers and looking towards the school gate. He smiled and muttered to himself, "It's been many years since I've seen someone holding flowers and waiting for someone. It's quite a sight to behold, and he's a promising soldier. I wonder which young lady managed to snag such an outstanding young man."
When An Moxue came out, she immediately saw Wu Sicheng standing at the car door with a smug look on his face.
no way,
The car is eye-catching!
People are in the spotlight!
The flowers are eye-catching!
The three items combined are even more eye-catching!
He was the only one I could see at a glance; there was no one else.
Wu Sicheng spotted An Moxue as soon as she came out. She was carrying several books, a backpack, and a pair of retro blue silk cloth shoes. She was wearing a matching retro Republic of China student uniform, and her hair was half down and half up with the ends slightly curled. From a distance, she looked like a lady from a prominent family in the Republic of China era who had stepped out of a painting.
His chest was surging with barely suppressed emotion. "Mo Xue!" he called out, striding towards her.
Suddenly, all eyes at the school gate were on the two of them.
He took a few strides, walked to her side, took the book from her hand, and handed her the flowers.
"Are you done with your work?" An Moxue took the flowers from his hand, smelled them carefully, and smiled faintly.
"Hmm," he said, seeing her expression, he knew that she should be fine at school these past few days.
The two people walked towards the car.
Where did you buy the flowers?
"You like her?" Wu Sicheng looked at her. The worries of the past few days were put to rest the moment he saw her.
