For several days in a row, An Moxue and Wu Sicheng searched for information about Confucianism, but they found no clues.
Neither of them were idle; they both had a lot on their hands. An Moxue received calls from time to time regarding business matters with her various partners, discussing things and progress. She also had to catch up on classes she had missed due to leave from school, and they both had their own tasks to complete. There were simply too many things to do.
That night, many days had passed since the master and apprentice failed their mission. An Moxue was busy and didn't pay much attention to this unimportant matter.
In the middle of the night, strange noises suddenly came from outside the quiet house. An Moxue and Wu Sicheng both heard the noises and ran out.
Outside the house, several burly men were carrying oil drums and pouring diesel fuel out of the house.
An Moxue laughed angrily: "Yo! Brothers, busy, huh!"
The busy people were startled when they suddenly heard a woman speaking. They turned around and, seeing that it was An Moxue speaking, they all perked up.
The main reason is that this girl is really capable. If it weren't for the high commission offered by the Popov family this time, they wouldn't have been willing to come. But money makes the world go round! Especially for people! People die for money, birds die for food!
"Why aren't you saying anything? Have you become mute? How much money did the Popov family give you to willingly come and die? Is that old geezer going to die?"
When Wu Sicheng heard An Moxue mention the Popov family, he wasn't surprised at all; he simply thought it was true.
The burly men looked at each other, unsure of what to say, since they were only doing things for money.
"Giddy, do you need help?"
An Moxue glared at Wu Sicheng, the meaning of which was clear—stay put and stop causing trouble.
Wu Sicheng touched his nose and sighed, "The injured have no human rights. Even helping them is looked down upon."
An Moxue looked at the group of people, ignoring their intentions, and unleashed a volley of crossbow bolts. Before they could even react, they saw her merely raise her hand, and in a few instants, they were all struck by arrows, then stiffened and fell to the ground.
Her speed was simply too fast, the sky was dark, and none of them had ever dealt with such hidden weapons before. In one round, they were all wiped out.
An Moxue put a pill in each of their mouths. Less than ten minutes later, the anesthetic on the arrows seemed to wear off, and the group collapsed to the ground, writhing in pain and screaming. An Moxue then inserted several more needles into each of them, and they all fell silent again, but still lay on the ground writhing in pain.
Wu Sicheng walked up to An Moxue and asked, "Moxue, what's going on with the Popov family? What grudge do you have against them?"
An Moxue looked at Wu Sicheng with an innocent expression and said, "I don't know either, but their family believes in shamanism, so it might be related to that, which is why they're holding me captive. However, tonight they're going to set me on fire, so I have to retaliate, right? But you better stay put, your internal injuries haven't healed yet! Don't let all your efforts go to waste. I can handle it myself."
The men on the ground shook their heads vehemently in denial. They only wanted to use the fire to get An Moxue's hair and teach her a final lesson. They had no intention of killing her; otherwise, they would have lost out. After all, teaching a man a lesson and killing him are not the same thing.
An Moxue didn't care why they were shaking their heads. She only thought that the semester was almost over and she needed to arrange things properly before returning to Lan Kingdom. She still had important documents to hand over to the organization.
Therefore, what needs to be resolved should be resolved.
After a while, the group was in so much pain that they were too weak to speak, barely alive, occasionally twitching. An Moxue took out silver needles and said to them, "I'll give you a chance. Whoever tells me what happened tonight, I'll cure their poison first. How about it?"
Several people looked at her, their eyes full of pleading.
"Alright! You're the one." An Moxue chose the person who looked at her first.
After a few needles, the person was able to speak. An Moxue said, "He can speak now, so speak quickly!"
Even though she spoke in a gentle and soft voice, they all felt a chill run down their spines!
"The Popov family's butler contacted us, asking us to find a way to get a few strands of your hair and scare you a little."
"So pouring diesel fuel on the house was your own idea?"
"Yes and no. We asked the housekeeper, and he said any method was fine. He also told us about several groups of people who had caused you trouble before, so we came up with this idea. He thought it was worth a try, so we took action."
An Moxue cursed inwardly, "Two arrogant grandparents and grandchildren hired a bunch of idiots. I wonder how they would feel if they knew what these people were doing."
After listening to their words, she smiled, a bright and radiant smile, and said, "Alright, now I'll give you a chance to make amends, do you want it?"
Several people nodded vigorously. This witch was terrifying. They didn't know what kind of medicine she had given them, but the pain felt like their souls were leaving their bodies. They did whatever she said, and they just hoped that she would stop the pain.
"Fine! I'll take that as a yes. Clean up the diesel fuel that spilled in my house tonight, can you do that?" An Moxue looked at them, her eyes full of distrust.
"Yes, definitely." The man whose speech had been released quickly stated his position.
"Well then, good luck and do your job well. But it's okay if you don't do your job well. I've temporarily sealed the poison in your bodies. We'll talk again after you've cleaned up my house. But it's okay if you don't do your job well. I'll suppress the poison for three hours, and then you can let it take effect."
After An Moxue finished speaking, she sealed the speech acupoint of the person who could speak again, and then gave each of them a few acupuncture needles. After she finished, An Moxue said, "Alright, the oil drum is over there. If you want to continue pouring oil, I won't object."
After she finished speaking, she went inside and went to sleep.
Wu Sicheng watched as she went to sleep, but he couldn't sleep. He said, "Alright, let's get started! I'm warning you, the woman in the house is a clean freak. You'd better watch out while you're working! If you don't do a good job, you'll have to bear the consequences."
After Wu Sicheng finished speaking, he went inside and brought out a chair. He sat under the eaves, covered his legs with a blanket, closed his eyes, and pretended to be asleep. It was unclear whether he was actually asleep or just pretending.
The group exchanged glances, all with the same thought—what's going on?
Damn it, nobody dares to run away. Just thinking about the consequences makes their scalp tingle. They all have the desire to steal but not the guts; they're just trying to make a living.
In the dark, the group resignedly began searching for tools to clean up the diesel fuel they had spilled.
You have to finish what you've done, even if you have to kneel down.
Wu Sicheng opened his eyes and glanced at the few people, then closed them again and continued to feign sleep.
