Chapter 247 Collecting Unexpected Money as Interest

An Moxue watched the couple enter the courtyard and then the house. She followed them to the eaves and listened carefully to the sounds coming from inside.

At first, there were sounds of rummaging, but later there were occasional sounds of conversation.

Are you sure this is the place?

"Sure."

"No mistake?"

"Won't."

"Then why can't I find it?"

"Keep looking, we must have missed something. We already have the keys, what are you afraid of?"

"Hurry up, we'll have to move it once we find it! It's okay at night, but what about during the day? Are you afraid no one will see it?"

"Do you need to tell me that? Do you think I don't know?"

After a while, a voice came from inside the house again, "Wife, I found it! Come quick!"

The people in the room were excited, and An Moxue was happy too. She couldn't deal with Zhu Zhen now, but collecting some interest from him would be good!

You want to seize my family's wealth? I'll take a little money from you first!

An Moxue took out a sleeping incense stick from her spatial storage, lit it, and sent it into the room through the gap in the window.

A few minutes later, she heard two thuds inside the house, and she knew that the couple had fainted and collapsed on the ground.

An Moxue entered the house, moved a chair, removed a brick from the wall, inserted a key into it, and revealed a secret passage.

An Moxue walked into the secret passage, which extended underground. She saw the couple lying motionless on the ground in the passage. She kicked them, but they didn't move.

She passed them and entered the tunnel, carefully examining it to prevent any traps or hidden weapons. However, she found no traps or hidden weapons until she entered the secret room.

In a small, secret room, rows of wooden crates were neatly stacked. An Moxue didn't look inside to see what was inside; she put them all into her spatial storage. There were fifty crates in total.

After putting away the boxes, An Moxue took out a metal detector and searched the entire courtyard inside and out, but found nothing else.

She went back into the house, took out the antidote for the two people, smelled it under their noses, and then quickly left.

An Moxue left the courtyard, took out her bicycle, and rode at full speed towards the state-run guesthouse.

In the small courtyard, a few minutes after An Moxue left, the couple slowly woke up. As soon as the woman was about to scream, the man covered her mouth tightly.

"Don't shout, be good, it's dangerous."

"Mmm." The woman nodded, her face deathly pale.

The man released the woman, gasping for breath in fright.

The man approached the woman and lowered his voice, saying, "Let me check the situation first, see if anyone is around. You absolutely mustn't make a sound, otherwise neither of us will know what's going on, and we could be in mortal danger, understand?"

The man was also very scared; his hands and feet were trembling slightly. He helped the woman up, and the two of them walked cautiously into the secret room, only to find it empty. Their hearts sank into emptiness as well.

"This! This!..." The woman was speechless for a moment, unable to utter a word.

The man was a little better. He said, "They must have been moved. We've just been doing all the work for someone else. Let's go!" He said the last word through gritted teeth, and then dragged the woman out of the secret room.

Upon exiting the secret room, they found the key still inserted in the wall, and there was no trace of anyone else inside or outside the room.

The man didn't care what key he had or whether the door was locked; he grabbed the woman and ran all the way back to his own home.

Back home, the man slumped onto a stool, and the woman was completely limp.

"Honey, why are you sweating so much?" The man touched his face and realized he was covered in sweat.

In the dead of winter, the man shivered and felt even colder.

He looked at the woman, who wasn't much better off; her face was deathly pale, and she was stammering.

The couple sat facing each other, trying to calm their fears. After a while, the man said to the woman, "Wife, remember this: tonight we didn't go back to the compound or to that small courtyard. Don't tell anyone about this, not even the children."

"Yes, I know, but our treasure is just gone like that." The woman finished speaking and started crying.

Seeing the woman crying, the man pulled her into the bedroom and closed the door.

"Stop crying, do you want to wake the child up? How do you explain that?"

"I'm just not reconciled."

“We don’t even know who those people are. Just tonight, they drugged us without us even noticing and moved the stuff away in such a short time. Do you think those people are simple? We’re lucky we didn’t kill them. If you slip up and get caught by someone with ulterior motives, we might be demoted, and even my dad will be in trouble. If he falls, we’ll have no one to rely on. Just think about how terrible that would be.”

The woman thought of the homes whose property had been raided and became even more frightened. She said, "I... I won't cry anymore." The woman wiped her face as she cried.

The man gently embraced the woman and softly comforted her: "Actually, my mother always said that the amount of happiness a person enjoys in their lifetime is predetermined. I don't really care much about this money. Compared to our lives, it's nothing. As long as it doesn't fall into the hands of my mistress and her children, it's fine if it falls into someone else's hands."

"Well, but we don't even know how much treasure that is."

"It has nothing to do with us, no matter how much or how little. The old man wouldn't have given us a single penny anyway, would he? If we get it, we're lucky; if we lose it, it's our fate!"

......

An Moxue was unaware that her actions had terrified the couple. By this time, she had already returned to the guesthouse and slipped away from the crowd to her room.

She didn't care about the fifty new boxes in her space; she was so tired and sleepy that she took off her clothes, lay down on the bed, and fell asleep in no time.

'Knock knock knock...' Early in the morning, while An Moxue was still in a sweet dream, there was a knock on the door, and it seemed to say, 'It's okay if you don't open the door, I'll keep knocking until you do.'

An Moxue tossed and turned several times, pulling the blanket over her head, but finally resigned herself to getting up and opening the door.

"I'm fed up with you! Can you please stop knocking? What are you doing here so early? Be careful other customers complain about you and the waiters kick you out," An Moxue said irritably.

Li Aidang didn't care at all. He took her hand and led her into the room, saying, "I got up early to make dumplings for you. Wash them quickly so we can eat. If I hadn't called you, the dumplings would have gotten cold."

An Moxue had no choice but to wash her face and brush her teeth. When she came back, she saw Li Aidang opening the lunchbox. It was wrapped in a small cotton quilt on the outside and a cloth inside. When she opened the cloth, there was an aluminum lunchbox full of dumplings, and another lunchbox underneath.

"Come over here and eat quickly," Li Aidang said with a smile to An Moxue.

What kind of filling did you make?

"You'll know once you try it."

An Moxue sat down on the edge of the bed, and Li Aidang handed her a pair of chopsticks, saying, "Eat quickly, or it will get cold."

An Moxue took the chopsticks, picked up a piece, and put it into Li Aidang's mouth. Then she picked up another piece and put it into her own mouth.

"Delicious! Ai Dang, your cooking skills have improved again. Cabbage and eggs, didn't Auntie nag you?"

Li Aidang rolled her eyes, glared at her, and said, "Can you stop nagging? You packed it up this morning and then kicked me out. Next time you definitely have to come home. My parents keep nagging me for being so insensible. I was so scared when they didn't bring you home. Here, that box of pancakes my mom made for you to eat on the train."

"Please thank your auntie for me when you get back. I'll go back to see them next time I have time."

......
