The next morning, An Moxue felt like she was being watched as soon as she left her house, but the feeling didn't disappear until she left the street.
However, she didn't find anything obviously unusual. The more this happened, the less she dared to be careless, so she had to secretly become more vigilant.
In a three-story house opposite An Moxue's home, Anthony asked his grandfather, "Grandfather, do you think she is?"
The old man's eyes flashed sharply. He didn't answer, but instead asked, "Anthony, how can you be so sure she's the one you just met?"
Anthony answered without hesitation: "Intuition."
"Yes, I feel the same way. Let's plan the next steps!"
"Okay, Grandfather, please wait a moment, I'll be back in a bit."
A short while later, the old man saw a person wearing a hat go to the front door of An Moxue's house, open the door, and swagger in.
After a while, the man lowered his head, pulled his hat brim down, went out the door, locked the door behind him, and then left.
Anthony went upstairs and said to the old man, "Grandfather, we didn't find a single hair. The house is unusually clean. It seems we'll have to think of another way. Let's go back first!"
Anthony helped the old man slowly downstairs, asking as they walked, "Have things been arranged?"
"Okay, everything's arranged. Now that we have the hair, let's move on to the next step."
"OK."
......
After school in the afternoon, An Moxue walked to the door, opened it, and noticed something was wrong.
She silently took out a silent pistol, loaded it, and walked into the house step by step as if nothing was wrong. In fact, she was being very careful. When she opened the door, she found that the lock had been touched and then locked again.
By the time An Moxue arrived here, someone must have come and gone.
However, she remained vigilant. She opened the door, went inside, and checked the room thoroughly. She found nothing missing, but noticed that the bed had been rummaged through. Although it looked the same as when she had made it that morning, there were subtle differences from An Moxue's work, which she immediately recognized.
Who is it?
A regular thief with some skill?
No, there's an old saying that goes, "A thief never leaves empty-handed." Besides, there are a few valuable items in this house, but nothing is missing.
I haven't been here long and haven't offended anyone. Could it be that someone has doubted my identity? No way!
Whether it's an enemy, the government, or someone who simply doesn't like me, it seems my intuition this morning was right. I must have been targeted around that time, and then he or she sneaked in when I went to school.
Unfortunately, the houses on this street are all some distance apart, making it difficult to find clues.
Undeterred, An Moxue took a few bags of cookies and knocked on the doors of several nearby houses. Only two of them opened the door, but the owners knew nothing about the place. The other houses were completely empty, with the doors locked.
With no clues, she focused on several locked houses nearby. She recalled the scene after she came out that morning: she felt like she was being watched as soon as she stepped out of the house, and then disappeared after turning the corner. So there must be someone in the house across the street.
An Moxue returned home, cooked, ate, and did her homework.
After it got completely dark, she changed her clothes and went to the house across the street first.
She entered the courtyard and began to observe. Once she reached the first floor, she could tell that the house had not been lived in for some time. She went up to the second floor and then to the third floor, where she found a clean stool under the window facing the road.
An Moxue sat down on the stool, and could see her house right away, all the way from the door of her house to the end of the road leading towards the school.
In other words, someone was spying on me here this morning.
Having found the answer, An Moxue didn't investigate the other two families and returned home.
As soon as she arrived at her doorstep, she saw Wu Chengsi appear in front of her carrying a food box.
An Moxue looked at him without saying anything. Wu Sicheng smiled and said, "Don't worry! There's no one suspicious, and no one saw me."
An Moxue was in a bad mood because of who had come to her house and spied on her, so she didn't want to say anything. She opened the door and the two of them went into the house.
Wu Sicheng could clearly sense that she was in a bad mood, so he asked, "What's wrong? Are you unhappy?"
An Moxue thought for a moment and said, "When I went out this morning, I felt someone was watching me secretly. When I got home from school in the evening, I found that the door lock had been opened and someone had gone into the house. I just went out to check and found that the person was probably spying on me from the third floor of the house across the street, but no one has lived in that house for a while."
After An Moxue finished speaking, Wu Sicheng also took it seriously.
He asked, "Could it be those people who have come after us?"
An Moxue thought about it and, finding it almost impossible, shook her head.
Wu Sicheng comforted him, saying, "If it's targeting you, they'll probably try again. If you take precautions, it shouldn't be a big problem. Or I can stay with you tonight until this situation is clarified before going back."
An Moxue objected, saying, "How can that be? Don't you still have a mission? What if you get exposed?"
Wu Sicheng said without room for argument, "Why not? You can go to class as usual tomorrow morning, and I'll check again. Don't worry! My identity is the same as yours, it's a genuine document that's been passed through several hands, so I'm not afraid of being checked. Besides, even now, I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving you alone when I go back. It's settled then. Come on, let's eat. Do you like the food I brought you?"
He pulled An Moxue to the dining table, opened the box, and took out the food inside: a small bowl of rice, a plate of tiger salad, a plate of braised beef, and a large bowl of old duck soup.
An Moxue asked definitively, "You did it."
"Okay, go wash your hands, come back and eat." Wu Sicheng pushed her to the sink again.
An Moxue was forced to wash her hands. When she returned, Wu Sicheng had already served her a bowl of soup, with chopsticks and a spoon placed beside it.
Wu Sicheng picked up the chopsticks, handed them to her, and said, "Try it and see if my cooking skills have improved."
An Moxue looked at him and said, "I've already eaten dinner, so I can't eat much now. Could you get another set of chopsticks and bowls so we can eat together?"
“Okay.” He knew she didn’t like eating alone, so he would keep her company.
He took a bowl and chopsticks and sat down opposite An Moxue.
When An Moxue saw him return, she glanced at the vibrant green tiger salad, took a bite, then picked up a piece of beef and chewed it together, gesturing to him with her eyes, "You should eat too!"
Wu Sicheng picked up his chopsticks, took a bite of tiger salad, then a piece of beef, and ate it just like An Moxue.
After he swallowed the food, he asked, "How was it? Did it suit your taste? Drink more soup; this soup is very nourishing."
"Thank you." Then An Moxue picked up the soup that Wu Sicheng had served her and drank it.
