Chapter 230: Hospitalization and Police Report

While An Moxue and the other two were eating, Village Chief Guo arrived.

Upon entering the room, he saw An Moxue's horribly disfigured face and cursed inwardly, thinking, "A bunch of heartless bastards, they're not even human."

When Old Ma saw the man come in, he asked, "Xiwang, have you eaten? If not, have something."

Village Chief Guo sat on a stool on the ground and said, "Eat, Brother Ma, you guys eat, don't worry about me. Mo Xue, are you being chased again this time?"

"Yes, Uncle Guo, don't worry, he's just one person and he's injured. He won't come into the village. Now that things have been exposed, he's trying to hide!" An Moxue said to Village Chief Guo.

She and Old Ma had agreed that the man was also injured and no one knew where he had escaped to.

"How's your injury? Are you alright? Just look at your face, your aunt would probably cry if she saw it." Village Chief Guo sighed, "Why does this child have to suffer so much?"

"Uncle Guo, I'll need your help to get me a letter of introduction. Uncle Ma will take me to the county hospital in a bit."

"What happened? Which part is badly injured?"

"My leg, Uncle Fu looked at it and said he suspected the bone was fractured, so he told me to go to the county to have it checked."

"Make me one too, I'll go with you later," Aunt Ma said.

"Auntie, no..."

Before An Moxue could finish speaking, Old Ma interrupted her, saying, "Let your aunt go with you. If you need to be hospitalized, someone will take care of you. If you really have a fractured bone, you should try not to move your leg."

"Alright! I'll listen to you, ma'am." An Moxue's resistance was futile.

Village Chief Guo said, "Then you all hurry up and eat. I'll go back and get you a letter of introduction. You can pick it up at my house when you leave." After saying that, Village Chief Guo left the house.

After finishing her meal, Aunt Ma went to An Moxue's house to pack some clothes, washbasins, lunch boxes, bedding, and other items she would need for her hospital stay.

Old Ma drove the cart, saying, "We won't get to the hospital until dark. Mo Xue, watch your leg and don't ride too bumpy. You dragged your injured leg out of the forest for so long; I hope you don't suffer any lasting effects."

"Yes, Uncle Ma, don't worry, I didn't go far. I made a makeshift sled, and two wolves pulled me back," An Moxue comforted her.

"By the way, were you going to the mountains to release the wolves? They brought you back, so where are they now?" Old Ma asked.

“An Moxue said, ‘They escorted me to the back of the mountain, and I let them go back into the deep mountains. I was originally planning to go into the mountains to gather herbs for a day yesterday, and then escort them a little further away, but I didn’t expect to be chased again.’”

“This can’t go on forever. What are your plans?” Old Ma asked.

An Moxue said, "Uncle Ma, when we get to the county, let's report the case first, then go to the hospital. I plan to call Kyoto tomorrow. I'm thinking of going to the Tang family after the next training camp to meet their patriarch and see if we can make any breakthroughs."

"Don't be reckless when going to the Tang family! You must protect yourself first. Otherwise, you should wait until you feel you have enough strength to protect yourself before going. Staying alive is more important than anything else."

"I know what I'm doing. My life is more important! I want to take you and your aunt to see the outside world when things are better!"

"Do you remember what you said today? You shouldn't have acted impulsively!" Aunt Ma said worriedly.

"Yes, I'll definitely remember. Uncle, Aunt, I'm going to take a nap. Call me when we get there."

“Okay,” Uncle Ma replied.

An Moxue lay down in the carriage and fell asleep in no time.

Aunt Ma looked at her with affection and said to Old Ma, "Old man, Mo Xue is asleep. Drive slowly and carefully."

Old Ma nodded and slowed down. In the afterglow of the setting sun, a mule cart went further and further away, finally disappearing into the mountains and fields.

When An Moxue woke up again, she was already at the entrance of the county public security bureau. It was already dark. Aunt Ma was sitting in the cart watching the mule, and Old Ma was helping her into the public security bureau.

Today, Officer Wang happened to be on duty at the police station. When the two of them came in, Officer Wang asked uncertainly, "An Moxue?"

“It’s me, Uncle Wang,” An Moxue said with a smile, but her mouth moved, pulling at the injury on her face, and she cried out in pain.

Wang Gong'an immediately got up and helped her sit on the stool.

"Thank you, Uncle Wang, I'm fine. I'm here to report a crime, please make a note of it."

"I can see that. Look at the miserable state you've become."

After recounting the whole story, An Moxue concluded, "I don't know if that person is alive or dead. Luckily, I'm alive. Uncle Wang, please tell Director Li tomorrow. I have to go to the hospital now. I'll draw a portrait of that person for you if I have time tomorrow." With that, Old Ma helped An Moxue out of the police station.

In the hospital, coincidentally, the doctors and nurses on duty today were the same ones who had treated An Moxue during her last hospitalization.

As soon as An Moxue entered the consultation room, the two men recognized her. "Comrade An Moxue!" they both exclaimed at the same time.

"It's me." An Moxue didn't know whether to laugh or not, feeling somewhat helpless.

"What's wrong?" the nurse asked curiously.

"Same as last time."

"These inhuman bastards!" the nurse cursed, about to ask something else, when the doctor interrupted her, saying, "Stop chatting, I need to start the consultation."

......

After the nurse finished applying the medicine to An Moxue, her eyes were red. She said, "Don't be stingy with money. Stay in the hospital for a few more days before going home to recover properly. Although you don't have a fracture, a bone crack is still a serious matter. Multiple sprains are not minor either. Don't take it lightly just because you're young."

"Thank you, I will." An Moxue knew that she genuinely cared for her.

After the medication was administered in the treatment room, I returned to the ward and had to take more medicine and receive injections. By the time I finished, it was already past 10 p.m.

Old Ma and his wife were worried, so they stayed at the hospital for one night, and no amount of persuasion from An Moxue could change their minds.

The next morning, Old Ma had already left, leaving Aunt Ma to accompany An Moxue to get her injections and be hospitalized.

An Moxue was giving acupuncture with her left hand and drawing with her right.

Aunt Ma felt sorry for him and advised, "You can draw after you get the injection! There's no rush."

"Auntie, it's alright. I'll draw this, and the police will come and take it away soon. It won't take up much time."

An Moxue said as she drew the portrait.

Aunt Ma looked at it and asked, "What kind of painting is this? It's really well done."

“A portrait sketch. If you like it, Auntie, I’ll draw one for you too.” The pencil under her hand made a scratching sound.

"real?"

"Of course, it's not a difficult thing."

Just then, Director Li walked in, went to the bedside, and saw An Moxue drawing a portrait with her head down. He asked, "Is this the person named Tang Qi?"

"Yes." After answering, An Moxue realized that it was Director Li. She said, "Uncle Li, you're here. I was focused on painting and thought it was a nurse. I'm so sorry! Please have a seat."

"It's alright, how are you? Are you seriously injured?" Director Li sat down on the stool and placed the fruit he had bought on the table.

"It's nothing serious. You'll just need to stay in the hospital for a few days and then go home to recover."

"You're quite optimistic, girl. Don't worry, I already know the details of the case. Once you finish drawing the portrait, I'll report it to my superiors. I won't let them get away with this easily."

......
