That night, An Moxue locked the front door and then the bedroom door, and entered her spatial dimension. After a few days of rest, she was no longer in a state of uncontrollable excitement. Although she was still somewhat excited, she was able to control her emotions well.
Suppressing her excitement, she went into the study, opened a storage bag, took out some books, and couldn't wait to see when they had been put there.
However, when she opened a book, she didn't recognize the characters. She opened another book, still didn't recognize the characters, and yet another book, still didn't recognize the characters. Undeterred, she opened many books in a row, but she recognized very few of the characters. She didn't know if it was because she was too ignorant or because the characters were too ancient. In any case, she couldn't read any of the books completely.
Now she was dumbfounded. What use was a bunch of books she couldn't read? She was originally overjoyed to receive these two bags of books, but now what use were they?
Undeterred, she took the two storage bags to the courtyard at the entrance. She emptied one bag of books and flipped through them one by one. After a long night, she finished reading the entire bag and put the rest of the books back in. However, she had to admit that she didn't recognize the words in the books. Just by looking at the binding and the paper, she knew that these books were quite old. She also discovered that the books were written in different languages, meaning they were from different places.
Undeterred, she returned to her study and took out some gold bars and jade from each of the other three storage bags. However, the gold bars and jade were completely unmarked, making it impossible to determine the age of the contents of these storage bags. To find out when these five storage bags were placed in the lake, she would have to look for the answer in the book.
The next day, after finishing work early, she asked the scorekeeper to record her score and went home. Once home, she locked the door, entered her spatial dimension, and began searching for books in another storage bag.
The bag contained not only books but also silk scrolls and parchment. And so, An Moxue spent another busy night, just like the previous night; the words recognized her, but she didn't recognize them.
An Moxue decided to give up and ignore the books. The other three bags of jade and gold bars were enough for her to squander for several lifetimes. One shouldn't be too greedy, she could only comfort herself with this thought. However, she still wanted to know what was written in the books.
She always felt that since these books were among the treasures buried by her ancestors, they must be extraordinary, and she would never be satisfied until she deciphered the written symbols.
An Moxue went to work for several days in a row, always in a hurry. Whether it was the old educated youth who wanted to ease their relationship with her or the new educated youth who wanted to make trouble for her, they couldn't find a chance to talk to her. This made the group of educated youth wonder why this person was so difficult to deal with!
Is An Moxue avoiding them?
No, she's busy going home and studying those two bags of books!
That day, she took half a day off, rode her bicycle to town, and mailed letters and packages at the post office.
When she got home, she didn't expect that Wu Sicheng was waiting for her at the door, dressed in a smart military uniform, looking exceptionally upright.
"Why are you here? I just went to town to mail you a letter." An Moxue was a little surprised. She had only been back for a few days, so why was he here?
"Really?" He felt a little smug when he heard that she had sent him a letter. "What? You're not welcome?" Wu Sicheng smiled gently.
"No, it's just a bit of an accident. Let's go inside and talk." An Moxue opened the door and led Wu Sicheng into the courtyard.
Wu Sicheng carried his bag and went into the house with An Moxue.
"How did you know I was back?" An Moxue asked.
“I don’t know. You left without telling me. Later, I wrote to you, but I didn’t receive a reply for a long time. I called Uncle Li and that’s when I found out you left.”
Wu Sicheng wouldn't tell her that he had found someone in the village who would notify him as soon as she returned. Otherwise, since they were both busy and rarely saw or contacted each other, he was worried that she might have been seduced by some male enchantress, and he might have lost all hope.
"I left in a hurry, thinking I could write to you when I got there, but I never expected that we would lose contact once I arrived. So how did you get here?" This was something An Moxue hadn't expected either.
"I had a short break, so I came to try my luck. Looks like I'm pretty lucky." Wu Sicheng said smugly, believing that luck was something he created himself.
“Yes, that’s true. I’ve only been back for a few days.” An Moxue poured him a glass of water.
"Mo Xue, don't bother. I'll pour myself a drink if I want one. Sit down and let's talk for a bit. You've changed a lot since you came back. You're more confident now. It seems you've learned a lot," Wu Sicheng remarked.
"Fortunately, the more I learn, the more I realize how ignorant I am, and how much I still need to learn!" An Moxue wasn't being modest; she genuinely felt that there was so much she needed to learn.
"Are you still going?" This was Wu Sicheng's biggest concern.
“Go.” An Moxue thought of something, got up, took out the money and tickets that Wu Sicheng had sent her over the past few months from the box, and handed them to him.
Wu Sicheng looked at her, puzzled, and asked, "What are you doing?"
An Moxue smiled brightly and said, "The money and tickets you sent me over the past six months. I have money, I don't need yours, take them back."
Wu Sicheng looked at her, didn't take the money, and said without thinking, "You're a girl, you have money in your hands, so you won't panic in a crisis. Put it away!"
“I have money, and I don’t lack tickets. I can’t even spend my monthly pension, and I’ve already exchanged some of the tickets. I really don’t need these. Here you go.” After An Moxue finished speaking, she handed the money and tickets back to him.
Seeing An Moxue's reaction, Wu Sicheng had no choice but to accept the money and the ticket.
An Moxue watched him accept the money and tickets and said, "Don't send me anything anymore. I don't need anything. I've already accepted what you sent before, okay?"
"Okay, how long can you stay at home?" He agreed, and whether he sends more or less is up to him.
"I don't know, I'll wait for notification. But I don't think it will be soon, I should be able to stay for a while."
"May I ask what you were doing? Where did you go?"
An Moxue smiled mysteriously and said, "No way."
Wu Sicheng's heart jumped. "Can you tell me if you've been safe for the past six months?"
"You don't need to worry about safety."
"Are you still paying attention to the Nakagawa Tang family?"
An Moxue was taken aback and said, "No, what's wrong? Did something happen to the Tang family?"
"It is said that most of the Tang family members who practice martial arts have run into trouble, while those who do not practice martial arts are all fine. Moreover, in the past six months, the Tang family has sent some people to the countryside, and a group of young people have also been sent there. They are not a threat for the time being, so you can rest assured."
"Really? Do you know the specifics?"
"They only suspected that someone had poisoned them, but they couldn't figure out how. The Tang family went crazy for a while."
"Alright, let's not talk about them anymore. I have to leave this afternoon. Look what I brought. I'll cook you something delicious for lunch."
An Moxue then saw Wu Sicheng open his bag and start taking things out.
