Chapter 48 I Love You

Chapter 48 I Love You

Ling Shen took the bath towel handed to him by the servant and gently wiped the water droplets dripping from the ends of his hair. The water stains meandered down along his tight collarbone, leaving small wet marks on his dark nightgown.

The rain outside the window was still dripping against the glass. Under the warm yellow light of the living room, Su Nian was sitting quietly in a corner of the sofa, holding half a croissant brought by Ling Shen in her hand and nibbling it in small bites.

The corners of his eyes were still red and swollen, as if he had just cried. His lower lip was gently bitten by his teeth, revealing a moist red. He looked like a little animal that had been wronged but was pretending to be calm.

Ling Shen unconsciously slowed down the movement of wiping his hair, and from time to time he would secretly glance at the person on the sofa. His heart was like a frantic deer, and he hesitated for a long time before he tentatively said: "The rain is about to stop, I will..."

"Where are you going?" Su Nian just swallowed the last bite of bread, raised her head and looked at him, with undisguised sarcasm in her tone, "Is it fun to live with Lucas?" It was clearly a question, but it carried a subtle accusation, like a soft thorn gently piercing Ling Shen's heart.

Ling Shen was about to stand up when he suddenly froze in place, his hands still in his hair, unable to move forward or backward, his face looking a little helpless.

Seeing this, the housekeeper hurried over with two cups of hot tea and said with a smile, "Mr. Ling, please stay. The road outside is slippery and difficult to walk on. We have already taken your clothes to be washed, but they won't be dry soon."

Su Nian didn't take the teacup handed to her by the host. She picked up the cup on the table and took a sip. Her eyes fell on the rising steam. She deliberately avoided looking at Ling Shen, but her slightly red earlobe seemed to be telling something silently, exposing his little thoughts.

Ling Shen looked at the lovely red color, and the hesitation in his heart instantly disappeared. He nodded gratefully to the housekeeper and said, "Sorry to bother you."

"I'm going upstairs." Su Nian finished the tea in the cup and gently placed the cup on the coffee table. Still without looking at Ling Shen's eyes that were staring at him, he turned around and walked towards the stairs.

But the burning gaze behind him seemed to carry temperature, making him feel uncomfortable all over and his steps became a little flustered.

When he reached the stairs, he tripped over something and lost his balance, falling forward uncontrollably. Su Nian's heart tightened, and he only had time to close his eyes, waiting for the pain to come.

However, the expected collision did not come. The next second, he fell into a warm and solid embrace, and the familiar cedar scent instantly enveloped him.

"Slow down, are you hurt?" Ling Shen's voice was hoarse with a hint of fear. He lowered his head to see Su Nian nestled in his arms, and his heart, which had been beating wildly, slowly calmed down.

God knows, when he saw Su Nian about to fall just now, his heart almost jumped out of his throat.

Su Nian was stunned for a moment, then struggled to stand up from Ling Shen's arms. A faint blush appeared on his cheeks, and he glared at him with a bit of anger: "It's all your fault. Why were you staring at me for no reason? I almost fell down." He complained, but did not break free from Ling Shen's hand.

Ling Shen showed a helpless yet indulgent smile on his face, and nodded tirelessly, one hand still holding Su Nian's arm firmly, afraid that he would fall again: "Yes, it's all my fault. It's all my fault that I was too engrossed in watching. I should have walked you upstairs."

The two chatted back and forth as they slowly ascended the stairs, their figures gradually disappearing around the corner. The housekeeper and servants in the living room watched this scene, smiling at each other, their wrinkles filled with relief, their smiles hard to hide.

Until Ling Shen closed the door, the soft click of the metal door lock was particularly clear in the silent room. Su Nian seemed to be awakened from the chaos by the sound. Her eyelashes trembled violently, and her pale fingertips unconsciously grasped the hem of her nightgown. She looked at the familiar yet unfamiliar figure in front of her: "You..."

Ling Shen stood there without moving, looking at the person he had been thinking about for a long time, without blinking, afraid that he would disappear in front of him in the next second.

Su Nian felt uncomfortable when he looked at her. She raised her hand and rubbed her ears. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

Ling Shen shook his head, and the damp air with the smell of cedar and rain enveloped him. "Su Nian, I love you." He chewed these words over and over again between his teeth a thousand times, and when he said them out loud at this moment, the ending tone still trembled uncontrollably.

"What I said is true. Even if you treat me as a shadow, I still love you. I know that person is very important in your heart. I won't ask you to forget him. I just want you not to push me away. I will use all my love to warm the rest of your life. I will accompany you until the moment my life ends." Ling Shen looked at Su Nian with trepidation and expectation.

Although he didn't know why Su Nian let him in today, his intuition told him that this was his last chance. If he missed this opportunity, he would regret it for the rest of his life. He wanted to try one last time. Even if Su Nian still didn't accept him, he would have no regrets.

Just as Ling Shen was daydreaming, the warmth from the lips made him open his eyes wide, and the warm lips gently pressed against his.

Ling Shen felt as if the whole world had stopped turning, except for the long-silent heart in his chest, which was beating at an almost crazy rhythm.

The rain outside the window had stopped at some point, and the sunlight streamed softly into the room, casting a layer of golden light on Su Nian, so beautiful that Ling Shen couldn't take his eyes off her.

Ling Shen took a few steps forward reverently and hugged Su Nian tightly in his arms, "I will use all my strength to love you, and give you all of my strength as well." As soon as he finished speaking, he eagerly kissed the lips that he had missed for many days.

Su Nian smiled and put his arms around Ling Shen's neck. He could feel Ling Shen's joy, and the love from the bottom of his heart made him sink into it.

It was unknown who made the first move, but when Ling Shen's slightly cool fingertips brushed across Su Nian's reddened earlobes, the two of them had already fallen onto the bed covered with moon-white sheets.

Ling Shen propped himself up and looked at the person beneath him, his amber pupils gleaming softly in the twilight. The bite mark he'd left had faded to a pale pink, but Su Nian's moist eyelashes, slightly parted lips, and chest rising and falling with each breath silently told him that everything before him was real.

"Hiss—" A broken sigh escaped Su Nian's throat, the tail sound like shattered moonlight. Ling Shen, who was leaning against her neck, extended his tongue to gently lick the mark he had bitten. The next second, the two of them pressed tightly together again.

The ups and downs of the mattress made a slight noise against the bed frame, and the gauze curtain was lifted up by the wind, cutting the sunlight into golden pieces and sprinkling them on the entangled limbs.

The scent of sandalwood and lust filled the entire bedroom. The half-cup of cold black tea on the bedside table created tiny ripples as it shook.
