Chapter 64 Intern
Shuangshuang and Zhazha have made their home on the balcony. Shuangshuang's legs have returned to normal and he can run and jump around chasing Zhazha.
The sunlight from the balcony slanted down on them, and their milky white fur trembled gently in the wind. Every time they pounced on Zha Zha, their paw pads made a muffled "puff" sound.
Zhazha always dodged nimbly with his tail fluttering. Occasionally, when he was caught up, he would stretch out his paws and gently press down on the boy's head, but his ears would always be tilted towards the little guy.
Although Zhazha always looks aloof and doesn't want to pay any attention to Shuangsong, every time Ling Shen scolds Shuangsong, Zhazha always stands up to protect him.
Ling Shen would always point at Zhazha and call him an ungrateful little bastard, then angrily seek comfort from Su Nian. "Look at him!" Ling Shen hugged Su Nian from behind. "I bought him imported canned cat food, and now he's breathing down my neck just to be coy."
While speaking, he did not forget to gently kick the passing Sungsong with his foot, causing the little guy to scream "Awooo" and hide behind Zhazha.
"Look at you, why do you always quarrel with it? Your voice is not as loud as its, but you are reluctant to hit it." Su Nian looked at his lover who was hugging him from behind with a look of grievance, smiled and turned to give him a kiss.
Ling Shen lazily watched Zhazha who had returned to the balcony to bask in the sun, his long tail hanging down, letting Shuangseng pounce on him and play with him. "I didn't argue with him, I just protected Shuangseng. I don't know if he thought she was his wife."
Su Nian carried the warm milk and the large pendant on her back and moved step by step towards the bedroom. "Okay, let's go back to the room and sleep. Don't you have a meeting tomorrow?"
"Well, I don't want to go to work. I want to be with you." Ling Shen felt miserable when he thought about the all-day meeting tomorrow. He buried his head in Su Nian's neck and didn't want to lift it up.
His breath was warm, gently brushing against Su Nian's collarbone. "Why don't we quit our jobs and travel around the world? Take Shuangshuang and Zhazha with you. They'll definitely make great travel companions."
Su Nian looked at Ling Shen, who was playing tricks on her. Her heart softened like a pool of water. She patted his hand and said, "Go to work well tomorrow. I'll bring lunch to visit you."
Ling Shen raised his head suddenly when he heard that, "Really?" His eyes were bright as if there were stars hidden in them, and the corners of his mouth rose unconsciously.
"Yes, really. I'll make you your favorite risotto." Su Nian smiled and handed him the milk. Looking at Ling Shen's Adam's apple rolling as he tilted his head back to drink the milk, Su Nian remembered the man who used to be so serious, but now he would act cute and coquettish in front of him like a child.
Ling Shen took the milk and drank it all, put the cup aside, turned around and pushed Su Nian down on the bed. Su Nian moved so quickly that she had no time to react.
The moonlight outside the window quietly climbed up the windowsill and shone on the entangled figures. From the balcony came a burst of dissatisfied "meows", as if protesting the sudden movement, but Shuangshuang had already curled up in the cat's nest and had a sweet dream.
Ling Shen's leather shoes made a crisp and rhythmic sound as they stepped on the shiny marble floor of the company's lobby, instantly attracting the attention of the interns who were queuing up to receive their work badges.
He was wearing a well-tailored dark grey suit, his posture was as straight as a pine tree, and he exuded a cool aura that kept strangers away.
Facing the interns' curious or awed gazes, Ling Shen simply glanced at them calmly, without a trace of emotion in his eyes, as if everything in front of him had nothing to do with him. He then walked straight to the exclusive elevator, lightly pressed the button with his fingertips, and the elevator door slowly opened, engulfing his figure in a bright light.
"That's President Ling?" An intern with a ponytail and a childish face exclaimed softly, her eyes full of admiration.
Before she came to Ling's, she had heard of Ling Shen's legendary experience. He was in charge of the huge Ling's Group at a young age. With his accurate business judgment and decisive decision-making ability, he led the company to gain a firm foothold in the fierce market competition and even opened up many new business areas.
I have only seen such people in financial magazines, but now that I see them with my own eyes, the excitement in my heart is beyond words.
"Yes, I heard that she's already married." An intern wearing a white shirt and thin-framed glasses answered with a hint of gossip in his tone.
She joined Ling's through an internal recommendation. She had a relative working at the company's headquarters and would occasionally reveal some news about the top management. Although most of the information was fragmented, it was enough for her to become an "informant" among the interns.
"Ah? Really?" The intern with a ponytail opened her mouth in surprise, her eyes full of disbelief.
In her opinion, young, promising and wealthy CEOs like Ling Shen would mostly choose to marry late, and many would even temporarily not consider marriage for the sake of their careers.
Moreover, Ling Shen was usually very low-key and never mentioned his private life in public. The news of his marriage was like a bombshell, making it difficult for her to accept it for a while.
"Of course, my cousin is an employee of Ling's. She told me that President Ling is marrying a man." The intern wearing thin-framed glasses lowered his voice and spoke mysteriously, while looking around vigilantly, afraid of being heard by others.
Her cousin had worked at Ling's for many years and held a high position, so the information she had access to was relatively reliable. This news was accidentally revealed by her cousin at a family gathering, and she repeatedly told her not to spread it. After all, this kind of thing involved the president's privacy, and once it spread, the consequences would be disastrous.
"Wow, the novel has come true!" Another intern in a pink dress with a sweet face couldn't help but exclaimed, but then realized that her voice was too loud, so she quickly covered her mouth, her face flushed.
She usually likes to read romance novels, especially those with elements of wealthy families and CEOs. She never expected that there would be such a dramatic plot in reality. The story of Ling Shen and his partner is even more exciting than the novel, which makes her full of curiosity.
Just as everyone was discussing Ling Shen's marital status in low voices and with great interest, an inopportune voice suddenly rang out.
"What's so good about men? If you ask me, President Ling definitely prefers women. Could it be that such a big company like Ling's doesn't need an heir?" The speaker was Sun Meng. She was wearing a dark professional suit, with exquisite makeup and her hair neatly tied behind her head. She looked much more mature than the other interns.
She folded her arms across her chest, her eyes filled with a mixture of disdain and conviction, as if what she said was the truth. This statement was like a bucket of cold water, instantly extinguishing everyone's enthusiasm for discussion, and the hall fell into a dead silence.
All the interns turned their heads in surprise and looked at Sun Meng, their eyes filled with surprise and confusion. Everyone knew that discussing the boss's private affairs was already inappropriate, but Sun Meng not only did not restrain herself, but instead said such offensive and inappropriate words, which was really unexpected.
In a large company like Ling's that values etiquette and respect, it is undoubtedly very unwise to discuss the president's private life so bluntly, or even question the president's orientation and the company's succession issues.
"What? Was I wrong?" Sun Meng felt the strange looks from everyone, especially the contempt and disgust mixed in them, which made her feel a little uneasy. But she still raised her chin with all her strength, looked at everyone with firm eyes, and tried to defend herself.
In her opinion, as a large-scale group enterprise, the issue of succession is of vital importance to Ling's. Ling Shen's choice to marry a man means that she will not be able to have an heir in the traditional sense, which is extremely detrimental to the long-term development of the company.
She felt that she was just pointing out an objective problem and had done nothing wrong. The reactions of the crowd made her confused and dissatisfied.
However, the other interns didn't respond. They exchanged glances, their eyes conveying the same thought: Sun Meng's words were outrageous. Not only did they disrespect Ms. Ling, they also exposed her eagerness for quick success.
They come to Ling's for internship mainly to use this platform to accumulate valuable work experience, learn professional business knowledge, improve their abilities, and lay a solid foundation for entering the workplace and adapting to society in the future.
Judging from Sun Meng's words and usual behavior, she obviously has other ideas. Perhaps she wants to take a shortcut by clinging to the top, or perhaps she has unrealistic fantasies about Ling Shen himself.
They neither agreed with Sun Meng's mentality nor wanted to participate in it, so they shook their heads and silently moved to the side, distancing themselves from Sun Meng and expressing their attitude with their actions.
