Time flies, and two months have passed in the blink of an eye. I play with Yu'er every day, and I don't even remember how much time has gone by.
On the Lantern Festival, I saw Yu'er running around in the yard. Everyone had already cleared the snow in advance. He was running around in the yard with a fairy wand. Watching him play made me happy too.
I can't believe it! I'm already over nine months pregnant. Just as I was about to go to sleep last night, I felt my pants were wet. These kinds of pants weren't available in Dazhao, so Xie Yuancheng went to 2020 to make me unique maternity pants.
"Yuancheng~ seems to be about to give birth."
"She's about to give birth!" Xie Yuancheng touched my trouser leg and then took my pulse. "Ying'er, I'm right here with you this time, don't worry."
"Ouch, it hurts." It wasn't him who gave birth, so he had no idea how anxious I was.
Xie Yuancheng told Anxiang to quickly fetch a midwife, as there were already two doctors in the room, so they were not needed.
When the midwife arrived, she only said she was there to deliver babies for female relatives who were temporarily residing outside. Moreover, she was a commoner and did not know Xie Yuancheng, so she could not pass on any information.
This childbirth was a little easier than the last one, but I sweated so much that I was completely out of my mind.
Xie Yuancheng was actually right there; it was pitiful that he was wearing a woman's wig. Originally, his parents disagreed, but since he was wearing the wig, they couldn't even call him out.
I held his hand tightly. No wonder everyone says that childbirth is like a woman taking a trip to the gates of hell. Now I truly understand.
Not only was it extremely painful, but I also lost all feeling, as if I were about to die. But for the sake of my child, I had to keep fighting.
After two hours of labor, the baby finally couldn't bear to come out and stopped torturing me.
The cries of the babies rose and fell in waves. I thought that newborn babies could sing a duet. But when Xie Yuancheng told me that he had given birth to twins, my eyes lit up.
"Master, Madam, congratulations! This girl has given birth to twins, a boy and a girl."
I felt relieved when I heard the voice. Xie Yuancheng personally washed them and then held them next to me. The two children were still wrinkled, but they looked beautiful to me.
Dad and Mom came in too. Yu'er was being watched over, as everyone was afraid he would run out. Children shouldn't see a birth, so they locked the door. I don't know if my naughty son cried.
When I woke up again, Xie Yuancheng was still by my bedside: "Go and rest for a while."
He looked haggard, and even had dark circles under his eyes that he hadn't had in a long time. It broke my heart to see him like that.
"Ying'er, look, the child just opened his eyes."
I looked at the two children sleeping peacefully and said, "Okay, you go and rest first. If you get sick, I won't be able to concentrate on my postpartum period."
"No, I haven't stayed up late in a long time. Just let me stay up a little longer; it's good for my health."
I reached out and touched the stubble on his face: "Have you thought of a name for the child?"
"My father-in-law is thinking about it, there's no rush."
I was worried that it wouldn't be a boy and a girl, so I didn't tell him. Now that they've been born, they're twins, so I told him what I was thinking.
"I want my son to take your surname."
"Ying'er~"
"You've already gotten Yu'er to recognize his parents as his grandparents, so it's good that your third son takes your surname."
Xie Yuancheng laughed and tidied the hair on my face: "How do you know which one was born first?"
"Anyway, they're twins, so it's good for our daughter to be both the younger sister and the older sister. She has Yu'er to dote on her, but don't forget she also has a younger brother to spoil."
"You think too much, you've thought of things this far ahead."
"I'll talk to my parents when it's light, and they'll agree."
"Okay, your mother came by just now. She saw the two children and loved them so much that she left not long ago."
"She really isn't worried at all, that's why she came out like this."
"She's your mother, how could she sit still while you give birth?"
I nodded. "It's still too late. Is it safe for her to go back like this?"
"Now the Crown Prince's cronies and the Empress's relatives are all keeping a low profile, and the Emperor's health is deteriorating day by day, which gives her the opportunity to come out."
I smiled at him and touched the sleeping faces of the two children; they were getting cuter and cuter with each passing day.
Once I felt a bit better, Yu'er came running over early in the morning. This time, she didn't call me "Mother" anymore; she called me "Sister" directly.
He clearly calls his sister "little sister," but he doesn't call his brother "little brother."
"Yu'er, come to your mother." Yu'er came over, holding onto the edge of the bed. "Why didn't you call your brother?"
"Little sister!" he called again. I pinched his little face. It was mid-March now, and the flowers outside were in bloom. Yu'er was dressed a little thinner than in winter.
“You have a younger brother.” I touched the cradle to show him, and he called out “sister” again.
Xie Yuancheng came in, holding a booklet in his hand: "Ying'er, don't force Yu'er to call her that anymore. He can call his sister clearly now."
"Sigh, my good son likes girls, but he can't bully his younger brother in the future."
Yu'er then grinned and said, "Little sister!"
Xie Yuancheng held Yu'er in his arms. "This is the name your father-in-law came up with. He said you could choose one."
"Father has already chosen; do you want me to choose?"
"He chose four, and he thought they were all good. He's still undecided."
"I understand. It's rare to see Dad struggling like this. Let me see."
Xie Yuancheng handed me the booklet. I saw four names on it, and Yu'er also craned her neck to look.
"Does Yu'er want to choose a name?"
Yu'er nodded, and reached out his little hand for the booklet. I gave it to him and said, "Then let Yu'er choose for his younger brother and sister."
Xie Yuancheng sat on the bed with Yu'er in his arms and opened the booklet. "Yu'er, choose two names."
Yu'er chuckled as he touched the booklet, then suddenly popped it into his mouth and started chewing on it. Xie Yuancheng laughed behind him.
"My son is going to eat their names."
I stroked Yu'er's head: "Yu'er, let your mother take a look, okay?"
Yu'er looked at my outstretched hand, hugged the booklet to her chest, and snuggled into Xie Yuancheng's arms.
“My good son is shy. Let’s watch him later. I’ll play with his toys.”
Yu'er's eyes lit up when he heard about toys. Xie Yuancheng made him a small car out of wood. It had wheels and could move, and even the doors could be opened, so he always clamored to play with it.
Xie Yuancheng placed the ball in his hand, and Yu'er dropped it on the ground, looking at him with his big, watery eyes full of anticipation.
Xie Yuancheng then picked him up and placed him on the ground. He took out a small wooden cart from the cabinet and put it on the ground. Yu'er immediately giggled.
"I knew you wanted this. Come on, go play with Wan'er and the others."
Yu'er, holding the toy car, pulled Wan'er's hand and went outside. Now he doesn't need his mother anymore as long as he has toys. I sat leaning against the headboard.
"Alright, choose now."
I reopened the booklet and immediately spotted Li Xizhi: "Yuancheng, Li Xizhi, this is a good name."
Although Haoyuan is also a good song, Li Xizhi likes it the most.
"This is a good name. Xi Zhi will definitely be heartbroken when she writes her name in the future."
