Xie Yuancheng became more and more excited as he talked, and I enjoyed listening to him. He always spoke with great enthusiasm when he talked about these things, and I liked watching him.
"Ying'er, if you keep looking at me with that adoring expression, you might say you're feeling unwell again."
"You're so kind, I naturally want to take a closer look." I turned around and saw the pavilion in front of me: "Let's go and rest for a bit."
I was hungry too, so I rested for a bit and then had some snacks. We ordered some braised and roasted meat in town; I'd been craving it for ages.
But Xie Yuancheng said I couldn't eat this at special times, and insisted on bringing some strange drinks and food, which made me feel like I was about to explode.
"I knew Ying'er was craving it. I'll bring it secretly next time, without you seeing it. I'll take it out to tease you when you start acting silly again."
"How can you still eat that? It's already spoiled."
"Anyway, it's you eating it, not me. Even if Ying'er has diarrhea and has to run around countless times, I can still cure you~"
"Ugh, that man is so mean to me. I'll tell Yu'er when I get back. By the way, he's probably already arguing with me. I'll make him realize he's a terrible father."
"My son would never say that to me, only my wife would~" Xie Yuancheng tickled me again, making me laugh so hard I couldn't stop. In the end, I begged for mercy before he let go.
"Okay, okay, I know I was wrong. You're not allowed to use that excuse to tickle me anymore, or I'll really laugh myself to death."
I grabbed Xie Yuancheng's hand, and he stopped bothering me and led me to the pavilion. As soon as I sat down, Xie Yuancheng gave me a water bottle, and the water tasted so sweet.
"Did you add something? It tastes different."
"Of course, you like sweet things. This is water I made, only for Ying'er to drink."
Xie Yuancheng came over with a smug look on his face and sat down next to me, staring at me with his eyes wide open. I had just leaned in and given him a kiss when I heard a childish, babyish voice.
"I want something sweet!" Xie Yuancheng and I turned around and saw a little girl of about three or four years old outside the pavilion. Her eyes were wide open and she looked like she had a bad temper.
She stared intently at the water bag in my hand, and just as she was about to come closer, she was lifted up: "Wei'er, we have something delicious to eat."
That's when I realized that everyone around her was young, around eighteen or nineteen years old. The little girl was clearly spoiled; she wore bells in her hair and her eyes were filled with tears.
She bit her lip and said, "I want a sweet sleeping bag to drink!"
Xie Yuancheng pulled me aside. He wouldn't have prepared food and drinks specifically for me, so I refused before the young people even asked.
The little girl started rolling around in their arms, the bells ringing horribly. I put the water bag away. Even if someone spoils her, she can't have everything she wants.
"I am a little princess, cute and adorable. Countless people love me as soon as I sing, yet you won't give me any food or drink."
She got more and more excited as she talked, and Xie Yuancheng and I couldn't be bothered with them anymore. Our initial mood for snacks completely vanished. I even complained that her foul breath had made my water bag smell bad.
Just as we were about to mount the horses, those people lost their grip and fell to the ground, their faces all smeared with dirt. I almost couldn't help but laugh.
To deal with these people, we just ignored them and rode away. We heard crying behind us, and someone even said to keep our feet in check, because a young lady shouldn't be seen being so reserved.
"Where did they come from, just suddenly appearing out of nowhere?" I really hate these kinds of kids; I need to teach them a lesson when I get back.
"I guess it's someone who sells cats and dogs. Dressing a child up like a pet looks so festive."
"Yes, I didn't remember that just now, but that's how it is. It's rounder than a ball, all over with fancy colors, and it even has a bell on its head. It's definitely not a pet."
"If this were in Linyang, there would be no place for them to hide." Xie Yuancheng didn't want to cause trouble; if they dared to come forward and say something, they would probably become a bunch of cripples.
“I need to teach Su Ling properly from now on, so she doesn’t turn into this kind of wicked person.”
I started making plans for my daughter. Xie Yuancheng was initially listening to me, but later he joined in. He always managed to explain the crux of the matter clearly.
"My lord, we meet again." It was Lu Fengjun's voice. He was accompanied by a woman who looked like Green Maiden.
We were having a good time talking when he suddenly showed up with a woman. Is he planning to get married and forget about Lingwu?
Xie Yuancheng's lips curled up: "You can't get into Linyang now."
"I know, that's why I came to ask you for help~"
Lu Fengjun and Lü Gu rode over on horseback. The last time he saw Lü Gu was in Sizhou City. Shouldn't she be an acquaintance of the Crown Prince or the Eldest Princess?
"Brother, we meet again." Green Girl winked at me. I turned to look at Xie Yuancheng, but he didn't react. So I smiled at her.
"You two have such a good relationship, you're even riding the same horse. My horse has a wider back, would you like to come and sit down?"
"Save your breath, I'm so happy with Yuancheng."
I frowned. This green-haired girl, she doesn't even know how to find a man to flirt with, and she's still so happy about it.
"Green Maiden, she is the Marquis's wife. You'd better find someone else."
It's rare for Lu Fengjun to speak up for Xie Yuancheng; he's probably only being so kind because he wants to go to Linyang. What a scheming man.
"What madam? Isn't the Marquis's wife the daughter of the Ji family?" She probably wanted to say adopted daughter, but seeing that the atmosphere wasn't quite right, she changed it to daughter.
"Yes, my wife is my father-in-law's daughter. If you ever wink at her again, I'll make you blind."
Xie Yuancheng's cold voice rang out again. He was already unhappy earlier, and now that Green Girl had walked right into his trap, he probably wanted to take it out on her.
“Yuancheng~ I should be happy that someone praised me~” I saw his eyes were almost squinting, so I quickly took his hand.
It was because I broke up with him three times that he felt like he had lost something, so I should still pamper him. He'll be fine once he gets over it.
"No wonder, that explains why I wasn't affected by your seduction last time. Turns out we're both women~"
Green Auntie really loves a good show; she's still talking. I was worried Xie Yuancheng might actually do something drastic, but she remained calm. I'm starting to get curious about her.
Before we could say much, a childish laugh came from behind us: "I'm the oldest~ You can only ride horses, how can you compare to me~"
It was that little girl speaking again. Their carriage was very beautiful, glittering with gold.
Suddenly, the carriage overturned, and a round little body rolled several times inside, but miraculously, it was unharmed. The group of young men began to wail and scream, as if the person who had fallen was their own mother.
"Hmph! You brat, how dare you act so arrogantly in front of me!" Green Girl put away the long needles in her hand, her face full of disdain.
