Chapter 367 Something's Strange in the Village

It's no wonder the teacher couldn't give Lu Fengjun a friendly look. After they finished cleaning up the kitchen, Ling Wu heard that Lu Fengjun was going on a long trip, so he wanted to go with him.

"Where are you going? There are still things to do in the city. Do you want me to live to be a hundred years old and stay with you all forever?"

The teacher started lecturing, and Lingwu finally stopped following. He pointed out the key point to Lu Fengjun, warning him to be careful. The teacher shook his head at their expressions, and I didn't know what to say, so I hid behind Xie Yuancheng, pretending to be an ostrich.

"Senior brother, you won't even let your sister-in-law go out with us, but at least let her learn something, right?" Ling Wu saw Lu Fengjun off and then started arguing with Xie Yuancheng as soon as she got back.

“I’m already teaching her. You all know that Ying’er isn’t very bright.”

"Who said my closed-door disciple isn't smart!" The teacher flicked Xie Yuancheng with his whisk, truly befitting a teacher, displaying great demeanor: "She's very clever. She reacted quickly just now. This is perfect for using as a border defense line."

"Teacher, you promised me you'd let me teach you, you can't go back on your word."

"You're going to teach her?" The teacher looked displeased. "Forget it. If you teach her, she probably won't learn it even when she's old. Once things have settled down and the children are older, I'll go to your residence. I'll be busy for the next few years."

The teacher is really considerate of the big picture. There are so many things to do now, and I just hope that we can get through each day smoothly in the future. It would be so wonderful if we could live our old age in Linyang.

Xie Yuancheng said that as long as Linyang stabilizes, his parents and the Prime Minister will come to live out their retirement there. The thought of his whole family living in Linyang is truly wonderful.

"Ying'er, tell me, do you want to learn from the teacher or from me?" Xie Yuancheng threatened me when he came, but now he's playing the victim.

“Master, I want to learn from you, but Yuan Cheng is teaching me now. Once the situation stabilizes, I will take him to learn from you.”

I'm still soft-hearted. When I saw Xie Yuancheng's eyes, I felt guilty. Sigh, what can I do? I like him!

“You’re completely under his thumb. If you had followed me around these past two years, you would have been much more capable than Yuan Cheng when you came back.”

“I know, but he needs me by his side more now. The children are still young, and learning is a lifelong thing. If I miss being with them, these most difficult years will never be made up for.”

The teacher looked on with admiration, probably thinking that Xie Yuancheng hadn't chosen the wrong person. These people were always testing my loyalty; it was really going too far.

"Ying'er~ I had no idea you had such a broad perspective." Xie Yuancheng leaned on the table, looking at me and smiling. Of all the people in the room, he was the most cunning.

"That's good. If we hadn't managed things well these past few years and had created hidden problems, it would have been a real mess later on."

The teacher, probably thinking of something unpleasant, began to sigh. Lingwu was still urging me to leave, but I was resolute. My heart was still with Xie Yuancheng; he had smiled several times today, just like Yu'er.

After they finished their discussion, we also had to leave. The teacher and Lingwu were going to the next location, while Xie Yuancheng stayed in the city so that we could be contacted promptly if anything happened.

"Yuancheng, tell me the code you used to contact me. I can't understand your messages."

I may not need to learn anything else, but I should at least know something about this. If there are any problems with their correspondence, especially if it's urgent, I can help resolve them.

"That's fine. I'll teach you slowly when we get back." Xie Yuancheng helped me onto the horse. Just as he was about to get on, he suddenly looked back.

"What's wrong?" I followed his gaze and caught a glimpse of a shadow. I quickly blew the whistle that Lingwu had given me. It was a nicely made whistle, and I always carried it with me. I even used it once when we escaped last time.

"Ying'er! How dare you hide things from me!" Xie Yuancheng snatched the whistle and looked at it. It was just for communication, not for hiding things.

I dismounted and went to explain to him. Xie Yuancheng turned away unhappily. I told him that if we didn't chase after him, his shadow would disappear.

"Don't worry, when you blew the whistle, Lingwu and the others had already gone after them." Xie Yuancheng pressed me down on the horse: "Tell me! When did you start using this whistle to communicate, and did you meet secretly?"

"We don't need to meet secretly; we always meet with you. Don't think like a petty person!"

Seeing his fierce expression, I was so scared my heart almost stopped. Xie Yuancheng was also worried, which is why he was so nervous. I softened my voice, afraid that he might do something rash and go to settle scores with Lingwu again. I was terrified when I saw it on the mountain last time. I hope the whole family doesn't always end up fighting.

"I'll settle the score with you when we get back!" Xie Yuancheng was still relentless. I quickly hugged his waist from behind. With him by my side, how could I possibly like anyone else?

"Ying'er, you're so good at acting cute, you always try to get away with it!" Xie Yuancheng was still unhappy, so I stood on tiptoe from behind to kiss his neck.

"I only act cute towards you to make you like me. We really haven't done anything. Lingwu is a good boy. He has been so loyal all along. Please don't fight like last time."

"Do you think I'm that kind of petty person?" Xie Yuancheng, this little arrogance of his, actually had the mind to praise himself.

But he's not angry anymore, and I go along with whatever he says. Nothing is more important than his happiness now. I find that when Xie Yuancheng is unhappy, I also feel very sad; I'm only happy when he's happy.

"Hehe~ My good lord, don't be angry~" I clung to him and wouldn't let go. The horse neighed twice beside me, probably starting to get annoyed with me.

"I'll let it go this time, but you still need to explain what happened to me when you get back!"

Xie Yuancheng helped me onto the horse, and just as we were about to leave, I heard a very faint cough. I turned around and whispered in Xie Yuancheng's ear, asking him if it was him coughing.

"How could I? It's not that cold today. Ying'er warms my bed every night." He can be shameless sometimes. Now there are only soldiers at the door left. The village isn't big, so it's hard to tell.

"By the way, don't you have arrows that can catch fire? You can use the village as a rake to practice your shooting."

This is the only solution I can think of. As long as the village is safe, that's all that matters. These young men all have families. We're all on the same line now, so we can't afford any accidents.

"Alright!" Xie Yuancheng clapped his hands twice, and two men who looked like the leaders quickly ran over. I hope they didn't hear the nonsense I just said, otherwise I really would have to find a hole to crawl into and hide.

Both men had scars on their faces. They acted quickly, and after understanding Xie Yuancheng's requirements, they began to organize the team. No wonder Xie Yuancheng was so successful; he had countless capable people supporting him behind the scenes.

I thought there were only a few soldiers, but when they lined up, there were at least thirty or forty of them. This is something that not just anyone can do.
