I spoke so passionately, and Xie Yuancheng just laughed. I pinched his arm before he finally said he liked it.
"If you smile at me again next time, I'll pinch your cheek, and I'll do it in a crowded place."
"Okay, there are a lot of people here. Here, let me pinch your cheek." Xie Yuancheng really leaned over and let me pinch his cheek. Seeing his smug expression, I leaned in and gently left a kiss before leaving.
"Ying'er~ You still call me a little pervert? You're the one who's shameless." Xie Yuancheng carried me outside, and the horse was standing there. I felt my face turn red when I mounted the horse.
He definitely did it on purpose. I didn't ask him to carry me off the horse back then, so we always rode the same horse together wherever we went. Even if I didn't want to, he would still carry me around, which always made me blush.
"Do you still remember what happened in the valley?" I asked after he mounted his horse, and Xie Yuancheng actually nodded.
"Of course, there were so many pebbles back then, and you're so young, you weren't worried about your feet not being able to take it."
"How can you be so relaxed? Is your foot alright?" I planned to go back and check his foot. If I saw any injury, I would have a reason to give this domineering marquis a good interrogation.
"I have kung fu skills. That little bit of gravel is no problem for me. Besides, when I was a kid, I practiced light-body skills and flew from gravel to the tree on the other side. It was no big deal."
"Really?" I turned around and tried to get information out of him: "How about this, I'll check it when I get back tonight. If I find anything wrong, what will I do?"
"You can do whatever you want, I absolutely won't object."
I nodded quickly, holding his free hand: "My little Chengcheng is the best. I'll keep setting traps for you next time. If you don't take the bait, I'll..."
"You can do whatever you want, and your little Chengcheng won't have any objections."
Hmph! This man is always at his most obedient at times like this. I'm definitely going to demand more of his privileges, so they'll all be mine alone. I turned around and talked to Xie Yuancheng, and he agreed to everything. I was so happy I could hardly contain myself.
"Ying'er~ I'll grant you any wish, as long as you're by my side." Xie Yuancheng leaned on my shoulder, and I couldn't stop laughing. This adorable and obedient Marquis is still the best.
I talked to him the whole way, and Xie Yuancheng was so cooperative, saying exactly what I wanted to hear. Just as I was enjoying myself, I heard people arguing not far away.
Xie Yuancheng grabbed my waist, and when I turned my head, I saw his serious expression: "What's wrong?"
"Something's wrong. Let's be careful." I glanced back at the soldiers behind us. With so many of us, we were definitely spotted from a great distance.
This maple forest is definitely suspicious. Looking at that expanse of red gives me the creeps. I leaned back a little, and Xie Yuancheng, knowing I was scared, tightened his grip slightly.
"Ying'er, don't be afraid. I'll protect you and won't let you get hurt."
"I just get a little creeped out by the thought of that red, but I'm pretty brave, not scared."
"Yes, just like Yu'er, he's a little guy who talks a lot but never delivers anything."
"I, I'm not a little one. I'm tall. I could dress up as a man without looking out of place. Maybe."
"Maybe what?" I glanced back at Xie Yuancheng and whispered. He blushed and was happy, and even pinched my waist.
I'm ticklish, and he always pinches the spots I'm afraid of. If it weren't for the noise in front, I almost would have laughed. Xie Yuancheng carried me off the horse, a soldier held the reins, and two cavalrymen went ahead first.
A gust of wind blew by, and Xie Yuancheng produced more than a dozen hidden weapons. He was incredibly fast; the two cavalrymen were almost injured by the arguing men. The people who had been arguing straightened up, their faces filled with fierce expressions, and swords and knives appeared in their hands.
“Marquis Anle, it’s rare to see you out. If we were to arrest you and your wife and take them back, it would surely throw Linyang into chaos.”
“Of course you can try.” Xie Yuancheng’s black iron sword was on his horse. I went up to get it for him, but he hugged me. “Ying’er, we can make them all suffer without a single soldier.”
"Really? These people are so ugly, and they're always trying to scheme against us."
"Yes." The two cavalrymen in front suddenly dismounted, and behind them was a sea of black clothes. In the blink of an eye, all those people were at rest.
"My lord, they are just ordinary people. They've only been lying down for two days. It's estimated that it will rain heavily tonight, and they'll just catch a cold when they get up."
"Alright, go down." Xie Yuancheng had a smile on his lips. These two cavalrymen were actually men in black; their movements were incredibly fast.
Xie Yuancheng continued to stand with me in the same spot, saying, "Ying'er, we'll stay here. The villagers will come out soon."
"Are they out of their minds? If they have been wronged, they should speak out."
"They want all the women in the village to live an upper-class life, and all the men to have a lot of good reputations. They want to use some people's lives to exchange for their glory."
I thought I misheard, and asked several times, "These people are so shameless, how could they even think of something like this?"
"To achieve one's goals, one can even betray one's own family. This is just a petty trick. If a few people die, the whole village will rise to prominence. Anyone would be willing to do that."
"Didn't you say it wasn't confirmed yet? How do you know?" I pulled Xie Yuancheng along. This was a big deal, concerning the lives of many people. If the investigation was wrong, the whole village would be implicated.
"It can't be wrong, I just got the news." Xie Yuancheng showed me the booklet in his hand. I opened it and saw that it was full of signatures and fingerprints. The first and third pages contained their plans.
"Bah! A pack of jackals, harming those who truly did the work. Those who died unjustly will not rest in peace in the afterlife. Their souls must be allowed to return to their hometowns."
"We've already sent Lord Wu over. He's nearby, not far away. Let's wait here for the villagers to arrive."
Xie Yuancheng was about to open the red cloak when I told him not to: "I still have something I don't understand. How did you get this booklet?"
"What they were carrying, Lord Wu said at the time, was a man with three moles tattooed on his face, one of the literate people in the village. I just told the Black Cavalry to look ahead, but who knew they would go so far as to use such ruthless tactics, and we were discovered just in time."
"You guys are really shrewd. My God, it's a good thing I'm your woman, otherwise I would have been made a fool of."
"Of course you are my woman, the mother of my child, and the mistress of Linyang. This matter is too dangerous, but Ying'er is brave enough. I'll show you how you do things on a daily basis."
"Teach me how to use those hidden weapons, and I'll protect you from now on." As soon as I said that, the soldiers behind me laughed. Xie Yuancheng glanced at them and then stopped laughing.
"Ying'er, let's go back and talk about it later. Let's put this matter aside for now."
