Chapter 415 The Art of Escape (Part 4)

I touched Xie Yuancheng's face, blew on it and saw that he still didn't wake up, so I was about to pull his hand when a pair of beautiful fake peach blossom eyes opened.

“Ying’er, it’s not dawn yet. Sleep a little longer. If you rest for three more days, you’ll be able to get rid of the remaining toxins. That way, we can go out and see the world. You won’t have back pain or sore waist, and you won’t look old when you get older.”

"Pah~ What good is it if I don't get old? I want to be with you, even if I'm old and toothless."

I pinched his cheek and laughed. Xie Yuancheng then pulled back the blanket and helped me up. He asked me what I wanted to do, and I just wanted to sit and look around the room.

Just as he was about to light the lamp, I stopped him: "Wait a minute, take a look at the roof beam, is there something there?" I whispered in his ear, and Xie Yuancheng looked over, but it didn't look right from several angles.

I described it to him, and Xie Yuancheng quickly understood: "This is a nighttime illusion. Let me calculate what time it is. Your eyesight is really good. You watched so many dramas and played games back then, and nothing happened to you."

"Okay." I dodged his hand. "Quick, look, should we go out?"

"This is just a normal illusion, there's nothing to worry about. It's very likely that it was set up by someone we know, like my sister. She probably thought it was strange and made us all lie down so she could eavesdrop."

Xie Yuancheng picked up a small rag doll and tossed it towards the window. I heard a sound, the window moved twice, and then a faint light came on.

"Xie Yuancheng, you little brat, get out here right now!" It really was Li Ruowei. She shouted angrily, and Xie Yuancheng burst out laughing.

I replied, "Sister, I'll teach him a lesson for you. Don't worry, nothing will happen."

"Ying'er, you said it just now, not me." Xie Yuancheng leaned against me and laughed uncontrollably. These two siblings are really a pair of bickering lovers. I don't know how Li Ruowei got corrupted by Xie Yuancheng.

"Hmph!" Li Ruowei said from outside, "Get up quickly, you still have things to do. I'm sorry you're back so late tonight!"

"No, Ying'er is weak. I need to stay with her, otherwise she'll get angry and I'll be in big trouble."

Xie Yuancheng lay on top of me, refusing to get up or let me get up. Li Ruowei started pounding on the door: "She can see the scheme I set up. If you don't come out, I'll have Yan'er and the others come and make a scene. Let's see if you're embarrassed to show off in front of the younger generation."

"Ying'er, let me loosen your clothes. I hurt you last night, so I'll give you a good massage today."

Xie Yuancheng really reached out his hand, and I quickly grabbed his hand: "Hurry up and go, or your sister will make things difficult for you again. Remember what we saw yesterday? It was all about you. The acupuncture is too early. If it were later, I could go out with you."

"Ying'er~ I don't want to go out, I don't want to leave you~"

"Oh dear, I'm getting goosebumps. If you don't get up, how am I supposed to face my sister in the manor?"

"Hmph~ Ying'er just doesn't like me anymore~" Xie Yuancai hugged the quilt and went inside. He acted coquettishly, just like a miniature version of Yu'er.

He really watched me play around a lot back then. He's such a grown man, yet he can imitate a child so well. It makes me laugh.

"If you don't come out, I won't be polite." Li Ruowei's voice rang out from outside. I had to finish this quickly, so I leaned over and kissed him passionately. Xie Yuancheng bit his lower lip and gasped for breath.

"Yes~" Xie Yuancheng touched my face, and I winked at him. I was almost ready to help him get dressed. Luckily, Xie Yuancheng knew, so I could feel a little more at ease.

I don't know what they've been up to. I opened the book again, and thankfully it hasn't changed. Now I open the book whenever I think of it, just in case something bad happens.

I rubbed my lower back, feeling weak all over, as if something was stuck inside me. I was already feeling unwell, and he kept trying to get closer to me. I didn't want to refuse; we're both too young. He only has a few things on his mind, and if I don't go along with him, he'll start to doubt me again.

I don't know how long I read it, but just as I was about to close the book, I touched the cover and found something else. I quickly pulled it out; it was a very small, sharp knife, about the same width as three needles stacked together. It felt light in my hand, and it was sealed in a small box.

"Bizhu." I called out twice before Bizhu came in with water to wash my face and wipe my hands. She was quite serious about it; I guess it was because Anxiang had come and she had been running over to play whenever she had free time.

"Madam, I plan to deliver some things to Jinglin this afternoon, and I'll be back soon."

"Go ahead. If Xie Yuancheng hadn't made the arrangements, you two sisters would have met at the manor long ago."

"Yes~" Bizhu's eyes narrowed into slits with laughter. I tried to get up, but I still didn't have the strength, so I asked her to go and find out when Xie Yuancheng would be back.

"The Marquis has only been gone for an hour, and you're already missing him. Today, I heard from the eldest young lady that they have to go out to do something very important, and they've asked all the gates in the manor to be closed, and no one is allowed to leave. Of course, the young master and the others are reading and playing, so no one is allowed to get close to them either. Therefore, it would be better for Madam to rest well."

"Alright." I asked Bizhu to bring over a few cushions and put some bronze containers on top. "You can go out now. I'll rest for a bit. If Yuancheng comes back, tell him to come see me as soon as possible."

"Yes, madam, we're right outside. If you're not feeling well today, I'll come a few days later."

Bizhu looked worried, so I told her to go from the back so she wouldn't be recognized. She said Lin Chao was coming over at noon, and she would go with him and then return with the people from the manor.

"That's good, go ahead." After Bizhu left, I picked up the little knife and looked at it. It was very exquisitely made, but it probably couldn't even peel an apple. How did it suddenly appear on the cover?

I felt something falling out of the mattress, and I felt uncomfortable, like when I was in postpartum confinement, and there was always something being expelled. I opened the blanket and looked inside; it was full of dirty stuff, probably residue from inside my body.

Being a woman is so hard, and becoming a mother makes it even harder. Luckily, the smell wasn't too strong. I was going to burn it myself, but even doing so felt too uncomfortable, so I had to call Bizhu and the others in to help.

I held the small box in my hand, my stomach was hurting so badly, and my face was covered in sweat, so I had to force myself to fall asleep. Staying awake would be torture.

There were always sounds in my ears, but when I opened my eyes, there was a bright expanse of color. When I closed my eyes again, I seemed to see a small dagger that could open a box, and inside the box lay a person, someone the yamen had been searching for for a long time, a very important clue.

I woke up clutching the small box. If I had a choice, I would definitely make Xie Yuancheng dream about it. I knew what they were doing. People in Linyang would suddenly disappear, and every now and then, some small footsteps would fly to the door with arrows, speaking very arrogantly. Because it involved the grudges of the previous generation, Xie Yuancheng sent a letter to his teacher to come back.
