Chapter 438 The Most Unassuming is the Most Difficult (Part 3)

I swung my hand behind me and hit him squarely in the stomach. Xie Yuancheng was so thin that there was no bounce at all when I hit him.

"Ying'er~ You're bullying me~ I just told the truth, and you're upset." He's pretending to cry again. Didn't he see all his subordinates came out?!

"Stop talking nonsense. The people you arrested are all here. How come there are only three of them? They all look to be over twenty-five or twenty-six years old."

I thought there would be many people, but there are only three. Could it be that they didn't catch enough? Xie Yuancheng dismounted first, and then helped me down. I really didn't recognize these people. No wonder he was so arrogant. The people we've met since our marriage have been pretty much the same. Even though we were apart for a while on the two occasions, I didn't recognize anyone in between.

"My lord, all the hidden weapons on their bodies have been removed." The young man in front spoke first. Xie Yuancheng told them all to step back, as he wanted to interrogate them personally.

I took two steps back. All three of them had disfigured left sides of their faces, varying in size, and some had been tattooed with lines. Could they have done it on purpose?

“Junior brothers, you really know how to find things to do. The teacher said that we cannot spare your lives.”

Hmph, he's not even as old as him, yet he dares to call him junior brother. He just takes advantage of any opportunity he can.

The three kneeling figures had no expression at all. I hadn't looked closely before, but there were things behind them, perhaps to suppress their illusions.

There were no more tombstones in the woods behind. How many people were involved this time? It's quite impressive that three people could create such a terrifying illusion.

"Kill them if you want, no need for feigned politeness." The person in the middle spoke, and Xie Yuancheng asked them to say their last words.

The three men gritted their teeth and remained silent, and he didn't press them, simply having them sent away. I went over to ask him if he really intended to send them to the underworld, since they were from the same school.

"Ying'er, why should you care about them? They were just trying to kill us. Just ignore them."

"That's true. It's a good thing I'm not in charge, otherwise many lives would have been lost for no reason."

"Please don't say that. It was Ying'er who reminded me. I'll definitely give you a good massage when we get back so you can have a nice night's sleep."

"Pah! Is it all over? Do you really need to go to such lengths for just three people? Aren't you making a big fuss over nothing?"

“No, you’ve been to Misty Abode before. Their abilities aren’t something you can easily crack. I was planning to spend a whole day there, but now I don’t need to. Let’s take a walk around the area. If there are no problems, let’s go back.”

"Alright, I'm going to the capital now. I'm going to have some fun with Xizhi and Suling. If you dare to stop me, don't even think about going back to sleep!"

"Ying'er, we're leaving tomorrow morning. I wouldn't have taken you back if I wasn't worried about your health."

"That's outrageous!" I punched his chest. "Why didn't you tell me sooner? Were you deliberately taking me to the northern suburbs so that the children would have to part with me again?"

"I didn't do it on purpose. I just wanted to give you a surprise. You framed me and bullied me for a woman who knows how to use Gu poison, and I didn't say a bad word about it."

"You're so bad! You're so bad!" I was furious. Xie Yuancheng was too good at setting traps for me, and I couldn't fall for it at all!

"Ying'er~ my Ying'er, next time I'm going to do something, I'll tell you first. If you're unhappy, I won't tell you."

The more I think about it, the angrier I get, especially seeing him like this. He's so annoying, I just want to grab his ears and pinch them. He's really gone too far.

"I'll ride a horse and you walk. You're not allowed to come with me. Every time we go out, it's in the dead of winter, and I'm freezing to death."

"Are you cold? We were supposed to leave around the Double Ninth Festival, but you kept making a fuss, and things happened at the manor. How could I bear to take you away like that?"

"You, you still dare to say that? Don't follow me on horseback, I'm not letting you go." I was so angry with him that I jumped onto the horse and was about to pull the reins when he shamelessly came up to me.

"You're so heartless! I'm all alone in the middle of nowhere. What if some bad guy comes out and kidnaps me? You're my sweet wife. If you don't want me anymore, who else will?"

This guy is a master at feigning helplessness. I ignored him, but Xie Yuancheng kept talking and talking behind my back until I was almost deafened.

"That's enough! Say one more word and I'll throw you to the ground." I looked up and bumped his chin with a very light touch, like a feather brushing against him. He cried out in pain behind me.

"Ying'er~" Xie Yuancheng never learns his lesson. I ignored him and told him to hurry up and go back to see the little ones. It's already noon and he's still wandering around here.

"Let me see. There's nothing bad going on here, but we need to be extra careful. If we don't nip it in the bud, it's easy for them to take advantage of us."

"What's this about taking advantage of someone?" I turned to look at him. Xie Yuancheng was giving me a serious lecture, which I initially found quite reasonable, but after listening for a while, something seemed off.

"You're just trying to coax me~ How annoying, I was listening so attentively!" I saw him laughing as he spoke, almost bursting into laughter, so I went to flip through the book and decided not to argue with him.

I looked at the contents of the scroll, and nothing around me had changed. Just as I was about to close it, I saw two dots moving on it. I immediately put aside my past grievances and told Xie Yuancheng to come and take a look.

He put his arm around my shoulder, glanced at it, and immediately dismissed the idea, "Ying'er, it's just two very ordinary dots. It's probably not a person, more like an animal."

"Perhaps they put the stuff on the animal to deliberately fake it? I think the fact that you're going to so much trouble, skipping lunch and making me eat more in the morning, means you don't want to eat lunch. You're busy with something important at noon."

"You little rascal, you already know that." He tapped my cheek, and I flipped it open to show him again. Only then did he look at it seriously. "Ying'er is right. Someone, go to the triangular forest in the east. If you see anything running, don't be soft-hearted. Use a fireball to burn it directly."

"Yes!" I was almost startled. He was an oddball, and so were the people next to him. They suddenly appeared, and I almost didn't have time to react.

"That's just how you guys are, but you still need to be careful." I held Xie Yuancheng's hand, it felt so natural, his fingers were slender, just like mine, so beautiful and lovely.

“Let’s wait a bit. The teacher has specifically instructed us many times that we must not let them take the black booklet out. It belongs to the Misty Abode. If it gets out, it will be bad for everyone.”

"A black booklet? What is that?" This is the first time I've ever heard of such a thing. Why have they never told me about it before?

"These are some insights into the art of escaping and uncharted territory, which many people desire, but cannot be circulated."
