Chapter 511 Our Promise (Part Two)

I secretly followed Yu'er every day. That rascal cried a lot on the first afternoon, but later he played happily in the carriage, laughing so hard that I could hear him.

"That opportunist is laughing so happily!" I lifted the carriage curtain. We were taking a different road. Yu'er, that little rascal, was laughing way too happily.

"Of course! It would be strange if our son wasn't happy playing with the toys I made for him. Ying'er, he's so happy, aren't you happy too?"

"No, it's just that the psychological gap is too big, sigh~" I went to hug Xie Yuancheng to rest. He's such a child, he can be so happy over a little toy, but I really feel bad inside.

"Alright, you're just being childish. You want to compete with the toy for attention?" Xie Yuancheng comforted me in his arms. I blamed him for giving Yu'er the toy, and he said that if he didn't give it to Yu'er, Yu'er would cry her heart out, and then I would also be in tears.

I don't care! I want Yu'er to remember me as his mother, and it would be even better if he said it countless times every day. Xie Yuancheng watched me make a fuss with a smile, and even though I knew it was unreasonable, I was still going to drag him down with me.

I sent Yu'er away for ten days, and I heard his laughter every day. After that, I felt better. Seeing my father leave with Yu'er looking so energetic, I looked at the scroll and asked the kingfisher to ensure their safe journey before I went sightseeing with Xie Yuancheng.

"Why didn't you have so many people with you?" We rode horses all night, and it was just the two of us; there was no one else with us.

"Our teachers are going back to Linyang. They made two dummy figures to follow us. With them in Linyang, we can go out for a stroll without any problems. Besides, we're not doing anything bad, so we won't be a threat to the throne."

"That's good. That little rascal Yu'er has been driving me crazy lately." I repeated it twice, but Xie Yuancheng still wasn't satisfied even after patting my head.

After we got far away, I wanted to ask him why he didn't stay at an inn and instead came up the mountain. Wasn't he afraid of bandits?

"They've already wiped them out." Xie Yuancheng pulled me up the mountain. When we were halfway up, he covered my eyes and made me follow him. "You mustn't peek."

"What's all this mystery? I've followed you all this way, how can I possibly peek?" I walked on his instep, and he always gave me the most surprises. I wouldn't be surprised even if I saw a god.

"Blink a few times first, then slowly open your eyes." Xie Yuancheng's voice rang out again. I deliberately touched his palm with my eyelashes. When I opened my eyes, all I saw was a white expanse, like snow.

"Is this winter? How come there's snow here?" I was so surprised. It was just like the snow scene I had seen in my dream. Flowers were covered in snow. I thought I was in the deep mountains. I can't believe I can see it here.

“When you told me about this, I thought of this place. We would definitely pass by when we were seeing Yu’er off, so I brought you here. In a few days, the frost will melt away, and there won’t be such a beautiful view anymore.”

“This isn’t snow?” I turned to look at him, wrapping my arms around Xie Yuancheng’s waist. “You’re so kind. I was just saying it casually, and you remembered it. I only saw this in my dream; I would never actually want to see it.”

“You’re dreaming. It’s a good dream, of course I’m going to bring you here. If Ying’er gets old and suddenly finds many regrets, and I’m old and my legs aren’t convenient, how will I take you to see the beautiful scenery?”

“You’ve always been the best to me. Don’t do that again. I’m telling you, even if you draw it, we can still see it. Look at you, you have dark circles under your eyes and you’ve gotten so thin. I’ve never seen you gain weight. You’re just too worried about me.”

"I'll take you to identify flowers, and we'll see the snow under the moon. All the flowers are in bloom. This kind of beautiful scenery can't be seen every day. It's the most beautiful."

Xie Yuancheng was still very shy. I followed him, staring at him, and couldn't even see the beautiful scenery in front of me.

"Ying'er, stop looking at me like that. It's too cold in here. I don't want to take off my clothes here."

"Sigh, I meant to compliment you, but the moment I said it, I could see your face turn red. You are a beautiful sight to me, and all those things stay in place, they won't go away or disappear, but you're different."

"You really know how to talk." Xie Yuancheng came over and kissed me. We've been married for several years, but I wasn't shy at all. I returned a few deep kisses to him before taking his hand and going to see what was going on.

He actually brought that peony lantern with him, but it was a newly made, compressible one; he had brought it with him when he dismounted. We carried the lantern as we walked through a large patch of flowers weighed down by frost. In my dream, I thought it was empty, but after going down a few steps, I realized it was just an open space, one that you could walk on.

"Did someone plant these here on purpose? This is the first time I've seen flowers at night. I never imagined they would look like snow from afar and be so crystal clear up close."

"No, I sent people to check back then, and it was indeed uninhabited. It must have been a place where all sorts of flowers were blooming together. It's a wasteland, and only someone who travels far away and likes to walk at night would have discovered it."

"With Xiao Chengcheng protecting me, looking at these flowers is truly a feast for the eyes, and I will remember it for a lifetime."

"Can you really remember it?" Don't underestimate me. I have a great memory. Although I don't try to remember everything you've done, I can still remember it immediately if there's a medium to do so.

As I explained to him, Xie Yuancheng proudly led me on a tour. The flowers and plants here truly grew naturally, without so many rules, making them particularly eye-catching.

We only walked around for a short while and then stopped. Xie Yuancheng even suggested resting here, but how could we? His injury will take many years to heal; it's not something that can be fully recovered overnight.

"Ying'er~ Don't you want to stay here with me for one night?" Xie Yuancheng didn't want to leave, so I pulled him and held the peony lantern to my face, deliberately looking at him with a shy and embarrassed expression. "I just want to see you like this, and then hold the lantern up for me to see."

"I know you like it. It's too cold here, and you're already prone to feeling cold and weak. Of course, it's no problem for me to stay one night. But I'm afraid some people might not let me know even if they get sick, so it's better for me to take precautions."

I pulled him up and told him that seeing too much beautiful scenery can become tiresome. These things need to be expressed unintentionally to be truly beautiful and memorable.

"Ying'er~ I don't want to leave, I just want to see you~" He's trying to be unreasonable. I pulled his hand and got up, promising to go back and close the courtyard so he could dance for me. Only then did he follow me down the mountain.

He must have been thinking about making a set of chime bells, but all I know is simple dance. Lately, I can only think of some dance steps to see if I have any talent in that area, otherwise I really can't give Xie Yuancheng anything new.

Xie Yuancheng carried me onto his horse and left in his red cloak. "Don't think too much. Our beauty together is natural; don't try to force it." He learns so quickly; he already knows how to apply what he's just told.
