Chapter Fifteen: Reluctantly Revealing My Identity

I closed my eyes and prayed, thinking I had just been lost in the retro scenic area for a few days. But when I opened my eyes, I saw Xie Yuancheng sitting across from me, which shattered my last hope.

Xie Yuancheng poured the tea slowly and deliberately, completely different from before.

I placed the fan on my lap, preparing to set a trap for him: "Xie Yuancheng, do you like men?"

Xie Yuancheng smiled and said, "Yes, and I don't mind telling the world that everyone close to me knows that I have a younger brother named Ying."

I sneered: "So, do you like women?"

Xie Yuancheng was taken aback: "I have never dated a woman before, nor have I ever been attracted to one. Perhaps I just don't like them."

I continued to probe, "If a woman wanted to marry you, you definitely wouldn't want her."

Xie Yuancheng continued to laugh: "No."

I then asked, "Words are not enough; you need to write a statement."

Xie Yuancheng picked up a pen and paper from the desk and began grinding ink. He then wrote a pledge. I glanced at it and saw that he promised not to associate with women, not to get close to women, and not to marry women. Great, this was all that was missing.

I carefully put away the letter of commitment. Luckily, I was wearing a hairband today, so my long hair quickly came down. Then, I untied the hairband, revealing only part of my bodice, and said triumphantly to Xie Yuancheng, "My lord, look carefully, I am a woman. Remember your promise." Seeing him in a daze, my heart was pounding, but I still tried to appear calm. I quickly tied the hairband back up, leaving my hair untied, and got up to walk towards the door.

The moment my hand touched the doorframe, Xie Yuancheng moved to my side. I reminded him, "My lord, you just promised not to associate with women, not to get close to women, and not to marry women."

With a wicked grin on his face, Xie Yuancheng pulled me onto the soft cushion next to him. He glanced at my straps as if seeking confirmation, and then suddenly burst into wild laughter.

I straightened my shirt and was about to get up, but he held me back and I couldn't move.

Xie Yuancheng said excitedly, "My Ying'er, I was still thinking about what reason to use to marry you, whether to keep you by my side as a hermit or to directly establish you as my wife. Now it's all resolved. I can just openly and honestly announce to the world that you are my wife."

I noticed his eyes were starting to glaze over, so I forced a rebuttal: "You just said you wouldn't get close to women, and you have to keep your promise." Xie Yuancheng laughed out loud, took both of my hands in one hand, and pulled out the promise letter from inside my lining.

He opened it in front of me: "I did write it, but I added a line at the end: 'In this life, I will only be with Ji Ying, my Ying'er.'" After he let go, I took it and glanced at it. He had tricked me again, but I am not Ji Ying!

I crumpled the paper into a ball and threw it aside: "Xie Yuancheng, I'm not Ji Ying, so you should go find your Ji Ying and be with her."

Xie Yuancheng pinched my nose: "Ying'er, I know it's hard for you to accept right now, but I'm sincere. I fell in love with you the first time I saw you. At the time, I was constrained by my status and kept trying to forget you, but the more I thought about it, the more painful it became. That's why I resorted to this tactic today. I never expected that you would be a girl. Now all the difficulties are solved."

I sat to the side and said coldly, "Don't forget that I am the imperial son-in-law of the current emperor."

Xie Yuancheng: "Well, if Li Zhaole finds out, he'll probably cause a huge uproar, and your whole family will be implicated for the crime of deceiving the emperor."

I argued, "Don't scare me. I only agreed to become the prince consort to protect the general's mansion. I've been looking for a chance to escape, but I haven't found one yet."

Xie Yuancheng grasped my hand: "So you've met me. I will help you protect the general and ensure your safe retreat."

I don't believe you. Men's words are deceitful: "You're just saying nice things."

Xie Yuancheng: "Ying'er, from now on you will be my wife, you have to trust me." As soon as I heard the word "wife," I got angry, so I told him everything, including my glorious events in modern times, although I often made a fool of myself, but it was still part of my life journey, from waking up to being in the General's Mansion, all the way to being forced to marry Li Zhaole. I told him everything, hoping that he would be afraid of me, a person who came from some strange place, and then back down.

Xie Yuancheng touched my forehead: "Ying'er, you don't have a fever, do you? The wind wasn't strong just now."

I pulled his hand away: "I'm serious. Do you think I know nothing about the Great Zhao Kingdom? My behavior is also different from ordinary people."

Xie Yuancheng thought about it seriously: "Indeed, it's just because you've been staying in the mansion for many years and haven't seen outsiders, so it's inevitable that you'll be different from ordinary people."

Me: "Hey, didn't you say you wanted me to trust you? Then you should trust me too."

Xie Yuancheng smiled again: "Ying'er has agreed to be my wife. Alright, I believe whatever you say. Don't worry, I won't abandon you just because you act strangely."

I wiped my sweat: "Little brother, do you think I'm just talking nonsense? Think about it, I'm only temporarily living in Ji Ying's body right now. What if I disappear one day? You wouldn't be..." I was actually kissed by him forcibly. Such a cheesy thing, done by a handsome guy, really, I don't know how to describe it.

Xie Yuancheng released me: "Ying'er, I will not let you leave me, and I will protect the General's Mansion for you. You are in a very dangerous situation now. Fortunately, I brought you to Linyang City. There were assassins sent by the Empress on the way. Recently, they have been making moves again, so I asked my teacher to come out and help deal with them."

My eyes lit up: "Then just say I was assassinated. That way, everything can be saved. Then I'll disappear without a trace, so no one can find me."

He pinched her wrist: "Ying'er, you really think the same way I do. It's too simple, so don't get involved in this mess. Leave it all to me."

The door was pushed open, and I quickly hid behind Xie Yuancheng. Meng Anshi's voice came: "My Lord." It sounded a little different from his usual voice.

Xie Yuancheng's cold voice rang out: "Go outside and wait." Only after Meng Anshi left did I peek out.

I pulled Xie Yuancheng's hand away and started to tie my hair up. He put his hand on my head to help, but I pushed it away: "Don't move around."

Xie Yuancheng sat beside me watching me tie my hair up: "I'll go back and get you some women's clothes, so you won't have to wear men's clothes anymore. Also, this sachet is lost, I'll give you a better one." Without my permission, he tore off the sachet that I had been wearing for a long time and threw it out the window.

I let go of my hair. "Xie Yuancheng, stay away from me."

He then started touching my hair: "Okay, give me the hairband." I had no choice but to hand him the hairband, and after he tied it up, he began to boast: "My Ying'er is so beautiful, even her hair is so delicate."
