Chapter 409 Just Learn (Part Two)

Taking advantage of Xie Yuancheng's loosening of his grip, I grabbed the book from his neck and snatched it away, so he wouldn't have to carry it.

"I've said I want to learn, but you just won't let me. This time, I'm not talking to you anymore!"

I ran with the book in my arms, but Xie Yuancheng grabbed me and pulled me back before I even reached the door. I wanted to run but couldn't, and he took the book away. It was truly miserable.

"If I don't let you learn, Ying'er can forget about reading!" Xie Yuancheng was as domineering as ever. I sat in the chair reading the book the shopkeeper had given me.

"Ying'er, are you angry?" How could I dare to be angry? I'm risking my life; my body and heart are devoted to him. I can't bear to part with him.

“Ying’er, I didn’t teach you that way, but if I’m going to guide you in setting up the formation, I can’t let you do it secretly, otherwise where will I find you?”

I'm not invisible, how could I learn something and then disappear? Xie Yuancheng is just cunning, but he won't admit it.

"Ying'er, talk to me. We're not going anywhere today, we'll just stay in the study."

I want to leave, but I need his permission first. I can't even get out of the house, let alone the yard. He'll grab me before I even get out.

"Ying'er, you're ignoring me~" Xie Yuancheng got more and more excited as he spoke, hugging my arm and leaning on my shoulder to read the book with me. I almost couldn't help but laugh out loud.

"Ying'er~" Xie Yuancheng hugged me from the side. I was secretly smiling, but I wouldn't look at him: "If you don't look at me, I'm going to..."

"You dare!" I snorted and put him down, but he hugged me back. "Anyway, I said I'm not talking to you. Go play by yourself over there."

"I'm not going. I want Ying'er to come with me. I don't want you to know too much."

"You said it yourself, if it weren't for my help in coming up with ideas, you wouldn't have been able to resolve things so quickly. Why are you blaming me now?"

"Ying'er~" Xie Yuancheng leaned in, his lips almost touching my face, but I quickly dodged, and he missed. "You've gone too far!"

"I'm not as unreasonable as you. I was just reading a book, and you started making a fuss and hugging me. How am I supposed to read?"

"No!" he said so confidently, so I hid to the side and ignored him. Xie Yuancheng pulled me up, but I just held onto the stool and didn't move.

"Have someone replace all the desks and chairs in the study in a little while!"

"No way!" I said, clutching the book to my chest. "If you switch, don't read with me anymore. I can't handle it."

"Ying'er~" He came over again. I moved to another chair. Xie Yuancheng looked at me with a wronged expression. I turned my face away from him.

"Are you deliberately trying to make me angry?" His change of attitude is too fast. This is him being unreasonable, not me making him angry.

I grabbed the book and left. I wanted to ask him some questions, but I had no interest in it at all today. I'd rather lie down and rest.

"Where do you want to go this time? Are you planning to just get on any carriage and leave me, or are you going to find a high place to jump off and make me go down with you?"

Xie Yuancheng came over and grabbed my arm. Only then did I see that his eyes had turned red. He had something on me. I wondered if something had happened in the Western Regions. I still vividly remembered the time I washed myself in blood.

"No, it's just that you overthink things~" I tossed the book aside and leaned against him without moving. There must be two faces behind him; he really scared me just now.

Xie Yuancheng didn't say anything, but carried me to the recliner inside. I looked at the book sitting alone on the small stool, as if I saw him searching for me everywhere, so I moved a little closer.

There was a screen next to the recliner with only one or two pieces of clothing hanging on it. It was getting dark, and I didn't want to get up. Xie Yuancheng, on the other hand, was sleeping soundly. I got up to check on him, and his brows were still furrowed in his sleep.

"Poor little thing~" I know he's proud and doesn't like to talk about things. If I hadn't distrusted him during our first argument, I probably wouldn't have met Li Ruowei so soon.

"I'm not pitiful, it's Ying'er who's bad." He was awake. I moved the blanket up a bit. It was still cold in the late autumn evening, even though the sun had been shining outside all day.

"Then tell me how I can avoid being bad. I'll go and learn. Yesterday I wanted to find someone to learn how to be a considerate wife, but you disagreed."

"You're fine as you are. Why do you want to become someone else? You won't be my Ying'er anymore. Of course, if it's like today, I'll lock you in the room and you're not allowed to go anywhere!"

"You're so good at thinking things out of thin air. If I could just hide from you under the open sky, I wouldn't have to worry about you every day."

"What are you afraid of?" Xie Yuancheng looked at me through the soft cushion. I clenched my hand, determined to ask.

"How could I not be scared? I had no idea what you were doing. If something were to happen to you one day, I wouldn't know how to save you."

"I don't need you to save me, you little brat. Just stay by my side. If you dare to run away again, I'll be ruthless."

When he said that, I felt really cold, so I snuggled closer to him and said, "I'm not a little guy, I'm just a bit shorter than you."

"It's because Ying'er is too tall. None of the girls are as tall as you."

"Yes, there are some women who are even taller than you. You can't deny that!"

"Okay, let them be, don't worry about them. Our clothes are a bit far away. Do you want me to carry you to change, or do you want to run and I'll chase after them?"

"You!" I almost cursed. That bastard! It's only because I overthink things that I worry about him.

Li Ruowei is right. If something happens to him, we'll be the first to suffer. We shouldn't think about bad things. We should go over and chat with him from time to time. Maybe we'll give him some hints.

"Ying'er, um~" Xie Yuancheng's face turned red again. I rolled up the quilt and got out of bed, smiling as I went to soak in hot water.

I'm getting tired of soaking in hot springs every day, so I decided to try a petal bath. Just as I settled down, Xie Yuancheng came over and deliberately showed me the teeth marks on his shoulder.

“This is where I bit you. I’ll get some tattoos for you next time too. Last time I got a tattoo on my waist, which I could only see through the mirror. I’ll also leave a tooth mark on your back.”

"Didn't I draw it for you? It looks so beautiful against your fair waist."

I rolled my eyes at him: "You know my body better than I do."

"That's only right. If Ying'er didn't exist in this world, I wouldn't like someone like you. My sister always says we're an eyesore."

"You deserve to be talked about, don't you? Let's see how you try to deny it~" I threw some flower petals at his face. "Tell me about what happened before, or you're not leaving today."

"What kind of crazy idea have you come up with this time?"

When I heard what he said, I took out a handkerchief and offered to wipe his back. Of course, I wanted to know some clues, maybe I could find the cause of his illness. After his serious injury last time, he would easily change his expression if he got too excited or if things didn't go his way, which was not a good sign.
