Chapter 194 Tang Jian Suppresses the Rebellion

Tang Jian was supposed to return on the third day.

But the family waited until nightfall, and Tang Jian still hadn't returned.

Both children looked rather dejected, and Tang's mother also looked disappointed.

"Alright, it's late, let's not wait any longer. Let's have dinner first. My husband probably has something urgent to attend to, which is why he's been delayed."

Tang's mother and the two children could only nod, and after dinner, everyone went back to their own rooms.

Lin Zao had just reached the gate of her yard when she saw Sun Ding standing there anxiously pacing around.

Lin Zao's heart sank. "What happened?"

Sun Ding breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Lin Zao finally return, and this time he quickly said:

"A riot broke out in Furong Town. After receiving the news, the general rushed over to quell the unrest."

It wasn't that he didn't want to go to the main hall to report the news, but he was worried that the old lady and the two young masters would be concerned about their general.

"Are they refugees?" Lin Zao frowned, suddenly remembering what happened the day before yesterday. Her first thought was that there were too many refugees, which caused riots.

"Yes, I heard that the mayor of Furong Town is very harsh on the refugees from outside the area. Those refugees were instigated and rioted en masse, with several hundred people involved!"

Sure enough, a single misstep could easily trigger a riot.

Lin Zao was slightly worried. It wasn't that she didn't believe in Tang Jian's abilities, but no matter how capable Tang Jian was, she couldn't help but feel anxious.

However, the name Furong Town felt somewhat familiar, as if I had seen it somewhere before.

After thinking it over carefully, she suddenly remembered that the King of Cheng had once bestowed upon them a land deed in Furong Town.

At the time, she found it strange that the reward was given in Furong Town, which was far from the main city. Because of the distance, she had never gone there to see it.

But since it's such a coincidence, she'd like to go and take a look.

"I understand. Go and prepare the carriage. We'll set off for Furong Town early tomorrow morning."

"What? Furong Town is in chaos right now. It would be too dangerous for Madam to go there! If the General finds out, he'll skin me alive!"

When Sun Ding saw that Lin Zao was about to leave, he quickly shook his head. If something happened to his wife, even if he died, he could not make up for his mistake.

Lin Zao's expression was firm: "Don't worry! I have my own ways to protect myself. Besides, if I want to go, you can't stop me."

Sun Ding twitched his lips. As expected of the general's wife who could have the general completely under her thumb.

Since he couldn't resist, what could he do? He could only hope that when the general saw them, he would be punished less severely.

After Sun Ding left, Lin Zao went back to her room and took out the things she might need tomorrow from her spatial storage, preparing to put them in her bundle to take with her tomorrow.

Lin Zao got up and prepared to leave before dawn.

At this time, the two children were still asleep, so she didn't have to worry about them catching up. She could take a nap in the carriage then.

As soon as the city gates opened, Lin Zao and his group left the city and headed towards Furong Town.

It wasn't until late afternoon, around 3 PM, that Lin Zao and his group entered the territory of Furong Town.

Upon entering the town, I found it to be incredibly dirty and chaotic, likely due to a previous riot. Every house was closed, and not a sound could be heard.

The street stalls were still scattered everywhere, many destroyed, making the whole town look desolate and bleak.

Lin Zao and his companions were driving their carriage to the address on the land deed when they heard the sound of horses' hooves behind them.

Someone's here!
