Tang's mother was so happy that tears streamed down her face. The heaviness in her heart finally dissipated like clouds, and she felt as if she had been reborn.
"I know that you miss your son dearly, but General Tang is currently on military duty outside and it may take some time before he returns!"
Although she couldn't see her son immediately, she was already thankful to know that he was safe and sound.
Reassured, Tang's mother suddenly remembered something and looked at Aunt Ren beside her. Hoping for a lucky break, she shamelessly asked Prince Cheng:
"Your Highness, this young lady Ren beside me also has a son named Ren Tianci, who joined the army three years ago. I wonder if Your Highness could help me find someone to inquire about him?"
Upon seeing this, Mrs. Ren immediately knelt down.
"Please, Your Highness, help this humble woman, and help my poor daughter..."
"Please rise, madam. You have taken good care of my son along the way. I will help you no matter what, so please rest assured!"
King Cheng quickly helped Aunt Ren up.
"Once I return, I will have someone investigate your two children. If there is any news, I will send someone to inform you."
Aunt Ren thanked King Cheng again before getting up from the ground.
When Lin Zao and Princess Cheng brought the cooked food to the table, Tang's mother and Prince Cheng were chatting and laughing.
Lin Zao was very curious about what they were talking about.
Since waking up that day, Tang's mother had never smiled so happily.
Even when she smiled before, there was always a hint of worry in her eyes.
Now, however, his expression is relaxed, and even the wrinkles at the corners of his eyes have smoothed out, showing no trace of worry.
Upon seeing Lin Zao and the others, Prince Cheng spoke first, jokingly saying:
"I must also congratulate Lady Tang on your long-awaited success!"
Lin Zao looked puzzled. What was Prince Cheng trying to tell her? What was there to be happy about?
"Zao Niang, Jian'er has become a general! He's still alive!"
Tang's mother looked at Lin Zao with a smile, feeling sorry for the child who had suffered because of her.
If it weren't for her, I probably wouldn't have had the chance to see Jian'er again. Zao Niang saved my life.
"Zao Niang is truly my son's lucky star," Tang's mother thought to herself, "I will treat Lin Zao even better from now on!"
Lin Zao breathed a sigh of relief when she heard that Tang Jian was still alive, at least she hadn't broken her promise to the two children.
But deep down, I'm a little worried about how the two of us will get along in the future.
After all, she wasn't his real wife, and she had no feelings for him whatsoever.
But if she were to leave, she would be reluctant to part with the twins and Tang's mother.
Over time, she has come to regard them as her true blood relatives.
Forget it, we'll deal with whatever comes our way and see how things develop.
No one can force her to leave her two children; that would be more painful than cutting off her own flesh!
Although Lin Zao thought of many things in an instant, her face showed a mixture of surprise and delight.
"Mother, is my husband really still alive? This is such a wonderful thing! I wonder when I will be able to see him again?"
"Last month, there was unrest on the border of Ganzhou. General Tang Jian led troops to suppress it, and he should be back soon."
Princess Cheng looked at Prince Cheng with surprise upon hearing his words. Was this the Tang Jian she knew?
King Cheng nodded in acknowledgment.
What a coincidence! It seems that their two families are destined to be together. It just so happens that she and Lin Zao get along well, so there will definitely be more opportunities for the two families to visit each other in the future.
Just then, Aunt Ren went to the lounge to call the three children to come eat, so Lin Zao and the others stopped talking and decided to eat first.
Lin Zao asked everyone to sit up.
"Your Highness and Your Highness, please take a seat. Let's eat while it's hot!"
Just as everyone was seated, Xiao Bao led his two children in a swarm of people.
"It smells so good! Auntie, you've cooked so much delicious food, that's wonderful!"
"Mommy, Yaya wants to eat lots and lots of meat~ I want to be as strong as Brother Xiaobao, I want to be a hero!"
"Silly! Brother Xiaobao is talking about a general! A man! You're a girl, you can only wear flowers~"
Tiger Head retorted to Ya Ya with a look of disgust, saying that he would become a great general in the future, and that he and Brother Xiao Bao would become the Twin Bears of Ganzhou!
Although he didn't know why his older brother Xiaobao said he wanted to be a bear, couldn't he be a human? But as long as it didn't stop him from being a great general, it was fine!
The little tiger head harbored a grand wish!
Ya Ya pouted and looked at Lin Zao pitifully.
"Mother~"
Lin Zao quickly picked up Ya Ya and sat her on her lap.
"Don't cry, Ya Ya~ Eat as much as you want, maybe our Ya Ya will be a heroine someday!"
They managed to appease her, and Tiger Head didn't dare say anything to upset his sister anymore. The siblings made up again.
Princess Cheng glanced at her son, guessing that he had just told the twins some heroic stories inside.
Xiao Bao looked guilty; he hadn't expected that Hu Tou and Ya Ya would argue about this.
"Your Highness, Your Highness, this is just simple food, please don't find it offensive!"
Seeing that the children had made up, Tang's mother quickly invited everyone to have a meal.
Seeing that Aunt Ren had not taken a seat, Prince Cheng quickly said:
"Please sit down, Madam Ren. We're all family here today, so please don't stand on ceremony."
Seeing that the prince had spoken, Aunt Ren couldn't refuse and sat down in response.
