Lin Zao gave a polite smile: "Big brother, I'm back."
Lin Shaohua was momentarily embarrassed by Lin Zao's calm and composed demeanor, but he quickly put on a smile and greeted her warmly.
He seemed to only notice Tang Jian when he saw him holding Lin Zao's hand.
"And who is this young master?"
Lin Zao looked at Tang Jian with a happy expression: "He is my husband, Tang Jian."
Tang Jian smiled slightly and nodded, saying, "Brother, it's a pleasure to meet you."
Lin Shaohua suddenly realized, "So it's my third sister's husband. He really is a handsome man. Good, good! Look at me, I'm so excited. Let's go inside and talk. Third sister's husband, third sister, come in quickly."
He eagerly reached out to pull Tang Jian inside, but Tang Jian leaned towards Lin Zao, seemingly unintentionally supporting her with both hands, thus avoiding Lin Shaohua's hand.
Lin Shaohua missed his target, a glint in his eyes, but he continued to welcome the two inside as if nothing had happened.
Upon entering, Lin Zao discovered that the Lin residence was exceptionally luxurious, with its artificial hills, flowers and trees, ponds, arched bridges, and lush greenery, all exquisitely crafted.
Nowadays, people outside are so thirsty that they need to drink water every day, yet the pond inside the Lin residence is still full of water.
Lin Zao saw several ponds of this size along the way.
The group walked and talked.
Seeing Lin Zao admiring the scenery within the mansion, Lin Shaohua sighed:
“I remember when my third sister was little, she loved to catch fish in these ponds to eat. Once, her grandmother caught her, and her older brother, in order to protect her, said that he had caught them himself. As a result, her older brother was punished by her grandmother.”
Lin Zao thought Lin Shaohua was quite interesting; he was deliberately saying these things to get closer to Lin Zao, but she didn't know what he meant.
She pretended to be apologetic and said, "My little sister was ignorant when she was young and caused trouble for her older brother."
Lin Shaohua: "Not at all. My sister has been smart and sensible since she was little. Compared to her, I am far inferior. My father often said that if my sister hadn't been a girl, she would probably be the second Master Lin in Yaozhou."
Lin Zao and Tang Jian exchanged a knowing glance, somewhat puzzled by the hidden meaning in Lin Shaohua's words.
Did he really think that she, a woman who had married out of the country, could come back and take his position and property?
"Big brother's praise makes me a little embarrassed." Lin Zao pretended to be shy, and looked at Tang Jian with a sweet smile, like a young girl immersed in love.
Tang Jian then returned Lin Zao's affectionate gaze, instantly creating a sweet and intimate atmosphere between them.
Seeing the couple's behavior, Lin Shaohua's expression turned strange for a moment. He tried hard to suppress the contempt in his heart, composed himself, and continued to lead the two inside.
But he didn't talk as much as before.
The couple, however, seemed to ignore Lin Shaohua and continued to leisurely observe the structure and scenery of the Lin residence.
The eleven guards behind them remained expressionless, ignoring the couple's sudden change in demeanor, and dutifully performed their duties as guards.
Soon, Lin Zao and his group arrived at the main hall of the Lin residence.
Upon entering, one sees a man with a short beard, over fifty years old, sitting at the head of the table. He looks somewhat similar to Lin Shaohua.
The woman sitting next to him must be his wife.
Lin Zao knew that this person was the current head of the Lin family, Master Lin Bojin.
Upon seeing Lin Zao and the others enter, Master Lin became visibly emotional, his old face trembling with tears as he choked out:
"Third niece, you're finally back! I'm so glad you're alright, otherwise, how could I face my second brother!"
