When Du Zhen returned home, she wanted to send the young master to her younger brother's room to rest, but she was afraid that her family would find out something when they returned the next day.
She suppressed her embarrassment and led him to her room, while she went to her younger brother's room to make do.
Unfortunately, plans can't keep up with changes.
When she placed the young master on the bed, she couldn't help but glance at him a few more times, her mind filled with endless fantasies.
Even knowing it's impossible, I still feel a lingering attachment; perhaps that's what love is like.
She was mesmerized by the young nobleman's handsome and unruly face, thinking: she would only touch his face once and then leave!
Unexpectedly, the moment her hand touched his face, the young nobleman grabbed it tightly.
He kept murmuring, "Don't go, don't leave me."
Seeing the pained expression on the young master's face, Du Zhen's heart softened, and she did the most outrageous thing she had ever done in her life!
What followed was a natural progression; with a mix of resistance and acceptance, the two became husband and wife for one night.
When the young master woke up the next day, he didn't blame her. Instead, he gently comforted her and asked her if she wanted to come with him.
Despite her family's condemnation, she resolutely chose to follow him anonymously.
And so the young nobleman took her to the city, and even bought her a house to live in.
She didn't know where he came from or what his name was; all she knew was that he was the noble young man in her heart.
She always called him "Young Master" and served him wholeheartedly. She dared not ask for more, as long as he would come to see her again.
Their relationship lasted for two years.
Until one night, the young master returned, severely injured.
She saw the young master covered in blood, and before she could even scream, he collapsed, without even having a chance to say a word.
When she frantically searched for a doctor, she was only told that there was nothing they could do.
Fortunately, she was lucky enough to meet a miracle doctor.
The miracle doctor said he could save the young master's life, but as for him, he might wake up in a few days, or he might never wake up at all.
She didn't care, as long as the young master could live. No matter what he became, she was willing to take care of him for the rest of her life.
Fortunately, the young master still has the instinct to eat and will not be unable to eat.
So she took care of him tirelessly, day after day, year after year, and fortunately, the young master had left her a lot of money.
Besides living expenses, she also had to buy tonics for the young master in order to keep him healthy.
As a result, their money dwindled until she finally sold the house and rented a small house. But no matter how frugal they were, their money would eventually run out.
Especially with the arrival of natural disasters, the prices of food and vegetables rose higher and higher. In the end, she had no choice but to send all of the young master's belongings to the pawnshop to sell in order to make a living.
She thought that if one day she ran out of money and could no longer make ends meet, she would leave this world with the young nobleman.
Unexpectedly, one day, a person claiming to be a member of the young master's family came to her with the jade pendant she had pawned.
Only then did she realize the young master's true identity.
It turns out he was from Yaozhou Prefecture, his name was Lin Zhongyue, and his family were wealthy merchants in Yaozhou.
And so, she came to Yaozhou with the Lin family, to his home, and continued to take care of him as his mistress.
Du Zhen finished recounting their story in a reminiscent tone. She knew she had done such a shameless thing and didn't expect anyone to respect her.
But she doesn't regret it. At least for so many years, she has been by his side and taking care of him.
