Speaking of Aunt Du, Lin Zao suddenly remembered who the girl named He Qiu, whom she had bought, resembled.
So it looks like Aunt Du. Lin Zao carefully recalled Aunt Du's appearance, and the more she thought about it, the more similar it seemed. Even He Lin's eyebrows and eyes had the shadow of Aunt Du.
Could these two siblings be Aunt Du's children?
However, Aunt Du didn't fall in love with her father at first sight. She has taken care of him tirelessly for so many years, so she shouldn't have had a child with someone else.
Or are the He siblings related to Aunt Du?
Lin Zao told Tang Jian her idea, saying, "Why don't we go to the Lin residence secretly and talk to Aunt Du first?"
If these siblings really have some kind of relationship with Aunt Du, perhaps they can find out something from her.
Tang Jian thought this method was worth trying, since he couldn't think of any other solutions for the time being.
Without further ado, the two decided to head to the Lin residence right away, as time was of the essence.
They had a maid come in to take care of Ya Ya, and the couple, along with Eleven, headed towards the Lin residence.
The Lin residence was heavily guarded, and the three of them waited for a long time before the guards changed shifts and they quickly slipped inside.
The group carefully made their way to the courtyard where Master Lin the Second lived.
When they turned over and went inside, the light in Master Lin's room was still on.
There seemed to be people talking inside; judging from their voices, it sounded like Master Lin and Aunt Du.
Tang Jian, carrying Lin Zao, leaped up and silently hid on the carved beam under the eaves. There was a gap there that allowed him to see clearly what was happening inside the house and hear the sounds clearly.
Master Lin: "I can grant you the position of a concubine. I hope Madam Du can think carefully about whether you want to waste your life with a living dead man or enjoy endless wealth and luxury."
Upon hearing this, Lin Zao quickly looked at Aunt Du in the room, only to see her backing away from the dressing table step by step, trying to increase the distance between herself and Master Lin.
But Master Lin pressed closer and closer to her, as if he wanted to reach out and embrace Aunt Du.
Aunt Du shouted, "Don't come any closer!"
With a 'whoosh,' she grabbed a pair of scissors from the dressing table and pointed them at Master Lin, threatening him to keep him away.
Master Lin's voice suddenly turned from ambiguous to icy cold.
"What are you doing? Don't push your luck! Remember, your nephew and niece are still in my hands. If you want them to have an easy time, you'd better behave yourself!"
Aunt Du sneered, "You dare to treat them badly and see what happens! I'll just kill myself!"
She turned the scissors around and pointed them at her own neck. "If I die, you'll never know where those things are!"
Master Lin remained silent for a while, as if he was startled by Aunt Du's actions.
"Fine, you win. I'll give you some more time to think it over. I hope you can figure out what the best choice is!"
After saying that, Master Lin flicked his sleeves and walked toward the door, which was pushed open with a 'bang' and bounced back, as if he was bearing the wrath of his master.
Watching Master Lin's departing figure, Lin Zao and his wife exchanged a glance and gently jumped down from the carved beam.
Aunt Du was crying inside the room, and the couple didn't know whether to leave or stay.
After a while, Aunt Du's crying finally stopped.
Lin Zao gently knocked on the door: "Aunt Du, it's me, Lin Zao. May I come in?"
The room was quiet for a moment before Aunt Du's hoarse voice came: "Come in."
The couple quickly slipped inside and closed the door, while Eleven stood guard outside the courtyard gate.
Aunt Du sat by Master Lin's bedside, her gaze fixed intently on him, and asked casually:
"What are you doing here in the middle of the night?"
