Chapter 303 The Female Demon

Sister-in-law Tang looked at Lin Zao in fear, "Stone... what stone?"

Lin Zao narrowed her eyes slightly, "It's that stone that I used to wear around my neck, you've forgotten?"

Seeing Lin Zao's sudden change to a dangerous aura, Sister-in-law Tang quickly tried to recall what had happened.

In a daze, I remembered that there was such a thing.

At that time, she seemed to have instructed Lin Zao to go up the mountain to chop firewood. However, Ya Ya was feeling unwell at that time, and it seemed that she had a fever or something. So Lin Zao did not listen to her and went up the mountain, but stayed at home to take care of her daughter.

When she got home, she saw that there was no new firewood in the woodshed, and in a fit of anger, she grabbed Lin Zao and beat and scolded her.

Later, Lin Zao fell to the ground, and the stone hanging around her neck slipped off.

Seeing Lin Zao carefully protecting that dark, broken stone, Sister-in-law Tang maliciously snatched the stone away.

At the time, Lin Zao was still foolish enough to try and take it from her, but unfortunately, Lin Zao, whose intelligence was like that of a child, was no match for Sister-in-law Tang.

In the end, Tang's wife succeeded.

As for where she put the stone, Tang's mind went completely blank at that moment; so much time had passed that she had no recollection of it.

It seems she took the stone back to the house, but as for what happened after that, she can't remember anything now.

After all, it was just a rock, and she didn't take it seriously at all.

If Lin Zao hadn't cried and made a fuss about that stone back then, and retained some memory of it, she probably would have forgotten it all long ago.

"Do you remember now?" Lin Zao's cold voice came from beside her ear.

This startled Sister-in-law Tang so much that she covered her head and cried out, "I remember now! I'll tell you! Don't hit me!"

Seeing Tang's sister-in-law's appearance, Lin Zao snorted coldly.

"I remember that stone was in my room..." She seemed to have just tossed it in the room and hadn't paid any attention to it since.

As for where she threw it away and what happened afterward, she really didn't remember.

"Where did you put it in the room? Did you take it out later?" Lin Zao asked again.

"I never took it out! I put it in the house and haven't touched it since..."

"I hope you're not lying to me, otherwise..."

Lin Zao left behind a seemingly unfinished remark, which startled Sister-in-law Tang, causing her to shake her head frantically.

How could she dare to lie to this female demon? Her stomach, face, and fingers were still aching.

Lin Zao looked intently at Sister-in-law Tang, and judging from her expression, she didn't seem to be lying to her.

However, she could understand it. After all, in other people's eyes, it was just a stone. Who would take a stone seriously?

In Tang Da Sao's eyes at the time, only a fool like her would treat a useless stone as a treasure!

If she wants to find the crystal core her mother gave her, she has to go back to the Tang family's hometown.

However, Tang Jian is currently fighting on the front lines and has not yet returned, so she certainly cannot leave Ganzhou at this time.

She wouldn't feel comfortable asking someone else to help her find it.

Moreover, only she recognized that stone-like crystal core; others might not be able to find it.

Lin Zao frowned and thought for a while, but couldn't come up with a good solution.

With a sigh, I knew I had no choice but to wait and see.

Fortunately, when they left with their entire family, almost everyone in the village had already fled to escape famine.

I doubt anyone would be so bored as to go to Sister Tang's house and take away an inconspicuous stone.

Lin Zao thought about it with some uncertainty.

The famine is not over yet, and those villagers who left probably won't go back to their hometowns.

As long as the crystal core remains in Sister-in-law Tang's house, nothing should change.
