Looking up at the chestnuts hanging on the tree, about to fall but not yet, Lin Zao walked over and shook the trunk vigorously.
With a "whoosh," chestnuts fell continuously like rain, bringing down the spiky chestnut balls outside as well.
If you're not careful, you might get hit and end up covered in thorns.
Fortunately, Lin Zao was agile and dodged them all.
After all the chestnuts had fallen from the tree, Lin Zao took out a sack and collected all the chestnuts on the ground.
After picking for a while, they actually filled half a sack. This place had a lot of chestnuts. Lin Zao even tasted one; it was big and powdery.
Lin Zao clapped his hands in satisfaction, picked up the sack, and continued walking inside.
Since we're here, we should at least hunt a few pheasants. We can take them back and stew them with chestnuts—wouldn't that be a rare delicacy?
With a "thud," something hit Lin Zao on the head.
Lin Zao looked up and saw a little squirrel standing on a chestnut tree, jumping around angrily and squeaking at her.
Lin Zao raised an eyebrow. "Little thing, what are you saying? I don't understand."
Squirrel: You bad woman, you took all my food supplies! Give them back to me right now!
Lin Zao: "Do you want me to help you find something?"
After all, that's how it's portrayed on TV—a clever squirrel leads her to find a hundred-year-old ginseng or something.
Looking at the lively little squirrel that wasn't afraid of her at all, Lin Zao had a strange thought that rarely popped into her mind.
He then shook his head with amusement, saying that there were no treasure-hunting rats in the world, only in TV dramas.
Squirrel: Ugh, I'm so angry! That two-legged creature! Oh well, I'm leaving!
Lin Zao watched the squirrel leave in one direction. The key point was that it jumped over a few trees and then turned back to chirp at Lin Zao twice.
Lin Zao picked up the thing that had just hit her head. It looked like a chestnut, but it wasn't. It was a nut called acorn, which could be ground into acorn flour and used as a staple food.
Lin Zao casually tossed the acorn into the sack and then walked toward where the squirrel had gone.
It seems there are acorns here. Since we've come across them, we should definitely take them.
Fortunately, the squirrel didn't know what Lin Zao was thinking, otherwise it would probably have scolded her to death.
After walking for a while, Lin Zao indeed found several oak trees with a lot of acorns on them.
As for the squirrel, Lin Zao didn't see it. She just guessed that she was walking in this direction, but she didn't actually see where the squirrel went.
Fortunately, she hadn't gone to the wrong place. It seems the squirrel was pointing out that there were acorns here. It seems to be a very clever and quick-witted little squirrel.
Lin Zao was somewhat amazed that the animals on this mountain seemed to be quite intelligent, such as Gale and Black Wind, and then there was this squirrel.
Half a day passed, and Lin Zao had harvested all the acorns. Looking at the full sacks, Lin Zao shook his head helplessly and could only turn back.
So when the squirrel went out for a stroll and returned to its base camp, it found that all the acorns on the tree were gone. It was so angry that it jumped around on the tree, squeaking and cursing.
On her way back, Lin Zao successfully hunted two pheasants, finally getting the chestnut stewed chicken she had been longing for.
When they were halfway there, Lin Zao suddenly heard the howl of wolves.
"Awooooo~"
Lin Zao's eyes narrowed, and she looked in the direction of the sound, her expression serious.
The sound sounds like the howling of a strong wind.
It seems to be angry!
