Lin Zao was exhausted from his antics yesterday, so she slept until very late.
No one bothered her. Normally, Tiger Head Ya would ask her to escort them to the Prince's Mansion. If she hadn't gotten up, they would have been banging on her door loudly.
However, Tang Jian happened to be going to the Prince's Mansion today, so he probably took him with him.
Tang's mother wouldn't be so tactless as to send someone to call her; in fact, she'd love for Lin Zao to get up late, as it would show that the two children had a good relationship, and her grandson wouldn't be far off.
Lin Zao had just finished her belated breakfast when the steward came to report.
"Madam, Princess Cheng has invited you to Zuixiao Tower, saying she has something to discuss."
Lin Zao was somewhat surprised. Why would Princess Cheng invite her at this time?
Is there something wrong with the business?
She and Princess Cheng have collaborated on many businesses, including seasonings and several pastry shops.
Lin Zao nodded, indicating to the steward that she understood. She then returned to her room and, with the help of her maid, dressed in her finest clothes before heading out to keep her appointment.
It wasn't that she was deliberately being so formal; it was simply that she was representing the General's Mansion and meeting the Princess at Zuixiao Tower, so she couldn't dress too casually.
As soon as the carriage stopped in front of Zuixiaolou, the manager of Zuixiaolou came out to greet them. He naturally recognized the carriage from the General's Mansion.
"General's wife, you've arrived. Her Highness the Princess has already sent word to me that she will be here soon. I'll take you to Tingsong Residence first."
Lin Zao nodded and followed the shopkeeper to Tingsongju.
She and Tang Jian had been to this private room once before, and she heard that it was reserved specifically for the prince and Tang Jian.
She had barely sat down when Princess Cheng arrived with her maids and nannies.
Lin Zao rose and bowed to Princess Cheng, saying, "Greetings, Your Highness."
Princess Cheng quickly went over and helped Lin Zao up. "Oh dear, it's been a while since we last met. Why is Madam Tang being so polite? With our relationship, there's no need for such formalities."
Lin Zao stood up and smiled at Princess Cheng, "Your Highness is joking. We still need to observe proper etiquette. Otherwise, people will laugh at me for being too arrogant and taking advantage of Your Highness's tolerance."
After all, there is a distinction between ruler and subject; even if the other party doesn't mind, they cannot disregard etiquette.
Princess Cheng smiled and said to Lin Zao, "Never mind! I called you here today because there's something I need to talk to you about."
Lin Zao nodded, "Please speak, Your Highness."
Princess: "Isn't it because the weather is getting colder? The chili peppers you provided a while ago, after my restaurant used them, the number of customers suddenly increased. They said that they felt warm after eating them."
Upon hearing this, Lin Zao had a guess, "What does the Princess mean?"
Princess Cheng smiled at Lin Zao, "Your cooking is delicious, and you are especially skilled at making dishes with chili peppers, so I would like to ask you to help me come up with a few dishes featuring chili peppers."
The chefs at Zuixiaolou are indeed skilled, but their dishes tend to be sweet and savory. While chili peppers have broadened their horizons, they haven't been particularly outstanding.
That's why she thought of Lin Zao.
Upon hearing what Princess Cheng said, the first thing that came to Lin Zao's mind was hot pot.
What's the best thing to eat in winter? It's definitely hot pot.
"Of course, I'll give you 30% of the profits from all the recipes you bring out. I won't let you suffer any losses. You know my personality, so don't refuse."
Princess Cheng and Lin Zao had worked together several times and understood each other's personalities, so Lin Zao did not refuse.
"If I had to suggest a dish that's good to eat right now, I would say hot pot."
What is hot pot?
