"Yuhan, Yuhan, wake up, it's time to get off work."
"What's wrong? Are you sleep deprived or are you feeling unwell?"
Li Xiaoran was a little puzzled by Liu Yuhan's blank stare. Liu Yuhan was not someone who could sleep on the job; this was not like her usual style.
"Xiao Ran...is that you? What day is it today?"
"It's me, Yuhan. Today is Saturday, July 15th. We are working overtime. What's wrong with you? Are you feeling unwell? Can I take you to the hospital?" Li Xiaoran looked at the pale Liu Yuhan and felt a little anxious.
"Xiao Ran, I'm fine, I'm fine, I just fell asleep. You go back first, I'll leave later."
"Are you really okay?"
"real."
"That's good."
Liu Yuhan bit her lower lip, calmed herself down, and tried her best to stop shaking. She picked up her cell phone and made a call.
"Xiao Han, what's wrong? Are you off work? Tomorrow is your birthday, and it happens to be the weekend. I don't think the weather is very good, so don't drive over. Your grandfather and I will take the bus over early tomorrow morning. Why aren't you talking, kid?" The gentle voice of the old professor's grandmother came from the phone.
"Grandma..." Liu Yuhan's tears flowed silently.
"Grandma, are you all okay? Where's Grandpa?"
"We're all in good health. Your grandfather said the village reservoir was releasing water, so he went to watch others catch fish. He can't sit still."
"Grandma, I'll drive over to your place early tomorrow morning. Just wait for me at home. I'm hanging up now." Liu Yuhan hung up the phone.
"Hey... this kid, why did he die?"
"Xiaoqing, look what this is?" Professor Du was holding a lively fish in his hand and couldn't help showing it off to his wife.
"Lao Du, where did you get this fish?"
"Of course it was given to me by the village chief. He knew I couldn't get any, so he was just envious. The fish in the reservoir are delicious. I'll freeze them tonight and give them to Xiaohan tomorrow. I'll also give her all the mountain products I've stockpiled."
"Oh, Xiaohan just called and said she'd be back early tomorrow morning. She was worried we'd have to worry about the ride, but I felt like her tone was weird just now."
"You're being suspicious again. Xiaohan calls us almost every day. What could the dean not tell us? By the way, the weather isn't great today. It looks like it's going to rain heavily."
"Let's see what the situation is like first. If the weather is bad, tell Xiaohan not to come. It's not safe to drive on the mountain roads."
Liu Yuhan walked out of the Agricultural Science Academy. As expected, the sky was covered with dark clouds. She stood there for a moment, feeling as if she had lost track of time.
She drove straight home. Sure enough, Jiang Lu was waiting for her downstairs with something in his hand.
"You're back? I brought you something to eat." Seeing that she didn't say anything, Jiang Lu hesitated and said, "I was just passing by. Isn't tomorrow your birthday? I have to go to City C early tomorrow morning and may not have time. I bought you some food in advance to celebrate."
"Brother Lu, thank you."
"You're welcome. Well...whatever, go upstairs. I'm leaving first."
"Okay, I'll treat you to dinner some other day." Liu Yuhan smiled at him. Jiang Lu left happily.
This was an old residential building, and Liu Yuhan lived on the third floor. She returned to her room, put her things away, and laid her face on the bed, pressing her head against the pillow. She cried incessantly...
"Yan Ping, An Ran, An Yu, An Bai, An Lin..."
Liu Yuhan felt her heart was broken, and the intense pain completely engulfed her. She was in a daze.
She had just looked at the space. It was still the same as it was at the beginning. There was no stockpiling of goods, and there was not a single thing belonging to that dynasty.
Were the past ten years all just a dream?
