What's in the box?
"Your Excellency, these are velvet carpets being transported to the south."
A man dressed like a merchant answered respectfully. The guards opened and checked each item one by one, and after confirming that everything was correct, they repacked it and sent it to the ship.
After the inspection was completed, the merchant asked, "Sir, may we leave now?"
"Let's go, let's go."
The guard waved his hand, and the men quickly boarded the ship and sailed away from the port.
The entire morning passed without any results at the port, and at the same time, Zhong Muyu, who had been kidnapped, slowly woke up.
She was surrounded by complete darkness, unable to see her own hand in front of her face. She tried to move, but felt extremely cramped, as if she were trapped in some small, confined space.
She slept for a very long time, almost to the point of unconsciousness, but when she turned on the light to illuminate her surroundings, she found herself locked inside something that looked like a wooden box.
What's going on?
The wooden crate was swaying back and forth. She was certain she wasn't on the ground, and her senses were clear. This wasn't a dream, so she must be on the sea. Could it be that she was kidnapped while she was asleep?
Having learned from past mistakes, Zhong Muyu guessed that she had probably been arrested again. She really didn't know what they were thinking, that they were arresting her instead of Lu Ziyuan.
She's easy to catch, but she's also very good at escaping!
Zhong Muyu tried to push the top of the box, but the box was fixed on the outside. There was only a small gap through which one could see outside. Zhong Muyu looked out through the gap and saw that the room was dark and there were many wooden boxes of the same size. It seemed that he was inside the cabin.
She ignored the intermittent voices of the crew outside; her priority was to get out of the predicament as quickly as possible.
It is indeed much more difficult at sea than on land, but now that she has the power of dreams, escaping will not be difficult.
Thinking of this, Zhong Muyu abandoned the idea of breaking out of the box and decided to enter the dream to find Chi Xuanzhu.
Just as she entered her dream and was about to call upon Chi Xuanzhu, the sound of a box being broken suddenly woke her up.
She looked at the two men in front of her with a look of being disturbed from a sweet dream. One of them sneered, "Princess Ling has just woken up. This kind of place is not suitable for you. Come with us."
"You know who I am? Then why did you kidnap me?"
"We cannot comment on that. As long as Your Highness behaves well, we can ensure your safety."
The man pulled her up. Since her dream spell had been interrupted and she couldn't enter a dream for a while, Zhong Muyu decided to see who they were and what they wanted.
Stepping out of the cabin, all that met her eyes was the vast ocean and the busy, silent crew. Zhong Muyu was led to the captain's cabin, where a man dressed as a businessman was sitting.
The reason he was described as dressed as a businessman is that he lacked the shrewdness of a businessman and the roughness of a maritime merchant. Instead, he had sharp eyes and exuded a cold aura.
He had a sturdy build and calluses on the base of his hands; such a person was either a top-notch assassin or a master of martial arts.
The two men beside him were similar; it seemed that the three of them were the ones who had captured him.
"Princess Consort of Ling, it's a pleasure to meet you."
The person opposite her gestured for her to sit down, and Zhong Muyu sat down without ceremony: "Stop beating around the bush, just tell me, who ordered you to arrest me?"
"The Princess Consort's calm and composed attitude is truly astonishing. However, I cannot answer your question. You will know in due time."
"Oh? If that's the case, then why did you bring me here in the first place? Wouldn't it have been more convenient to keep me locked in the box?"
"The box is cramped and the cabin is dark. How can we let Princess Ling stay in such a place? If something happens to you, we will have a hard time explaining it to her."
Zhong Muyu nodded: "That's right. You must have something to ask of me if you arrested me. You can't afford to take responsibility if something happens to me."
"That's right, if you behave yourself, it won't hurt anyone."
They looked Zhong Muyu up and down, their distrust of her composure evident, and they desperately wanted to detect something unusual about her.
However, there was none at all.
When a normal person is captured and doesn't know what they will face, no matter how much they try to remain calm, they will still be able to see through the trap. But Zhong Muyu didn't, which means that either she knew this trip was safe, or she already had a foolproof plan to escape.
However, firstly, he didn't know who wanted to capture her, and secondly, this was in the deep sea, and escaping from this ship would certainly mean certain death. They couldn't understand why Zhong Muyu was acting as if nothing had happened.
Zhong Muyu glanced at them and said, "If you keep staring at me, I'll be stared through the hole! Don't worry, since I know I'm not in any danger, what am I afraid of? I'll go with you to take a look."
“I admire the Princess Consort’s magnanimity. Please go and send your message elsewhere.”
The two men led Zhong Muyu to a room on a ship. The room was small but clean and tidy, and had all kinds of things. It seemed that they had taken the time to make her trip less unpleasant.
She became increasingly curious about who the other person was.
Logically speaking, after Lu Ziying's death, her enemies should have all disappeared.
No, there might be another Wu Zhao, but that person is in the north, while the ship is traveling south.
At this moment, the two men, after closing the door, stood guard at the entrance like door gods on either side.
Zhong Muyu asked, "I can't go anywhere on this ship unless I grow wings and fly away. What are you all watching over me for?"
“It’s dangerous on the ship, and we don’t want you to wander around.”
Looking at her belly, Zhong Muyu felt quite helpless. Her body was so heavy now, where could she possibly run around?
Since they're willing to watch, let them watch. They'll eventually have their rest time, and then she can use her dream magic to escape. Otherwise, if she gets woken up before she can escape, all her efforts will be wasted.
There were books in the room, and Zhong Muyu, bored, flipped through one to pass the time. After a while, the two men opened the door and brought her a simple lunch.
Lunch was simple but plentiful, with both vegetables and meat. Unfortunately, Zhong Muyu couldn't eat much because of her pregnancy, and the swaying on the boat made her feel nauseous when she smelled the food.
The man said coldly, "No need for tricks, there's no poison inside."
"What tricks could I possibly be playing? I'm pregnant and can't eat much anyway, and it's obvious you don't have a wife!"
The man was taken aback by Zhong Muyu's curt reply, and looking somewhat embarrassed, he had no choice but to leave.
Zhong Muyu drank some water, and her stomach finally felt a little better.
Just as she was about to try to eat something, it started to get dark, and a "patter, patter" sound came from outside.
Is it raining?
As Zhong Muyu walked to the door, she heard a chaotic commotion outside, and one of the men was called away to help.
Seeing Zhong Muyu approaching the door, another person said, "Your Highness, please go back. This is not something you need to worry about."
“I know, but I feel too stuffy in the room. I want to get some fresh air. You can leave the door open and keep watch so I can breathe some fresh air.”
The man outside thought for a moment, then finally opened the door.
