Chapter 7 We Really Traveled Across Time

"No need for anything else. This stone pot chicken is quite large. Just give each person a boiled egg."

"Okay."

The number of eggs a family consumes every day is astonishing, so they buy them without hesitation. Fortunately, this thing is not expensive, so there is naturally no pressure. However, in order to increase the children's food choices, Mother Xu buys very carefully.

Eggs are of course a must, but duck eggs, goose eggs, quail eggs and other things are also indispensable. In addition, there are also a bunch of salted duck eggs and roasted duck eggs, not to mention my daughter’s favorite preserved eggs.

While waiting for dinner, Xu Tiantu checked the balances of various household resources. They'd bought broadband along with their digital TV, paying a lump sum for five years. They'd just moved in, so they didn't have to worry about that expense for now.

At least for now, I can rest assured about the cost of internet.

They bought 5,000 cubic meters of gas. It was a bit helpless because they were located in the south, but not so south, which meant that the winters here were very cold.

The temperature seemed to be hovering around 2-3 degrees below zero, but generally stayed above zero. However, due to the high humidity, the cold was bone-chilling, like a magical attack. However, in such a magical place, there was no heating, which was very embarrassing.

So when we moved into our new home, the whole family insisted on installing heating. Since there was no central heating, what could we do? Of course, we had to install our own wall-mounted boiler.

However, since it was their first time using this device, they didn't know how much natural gas they would burn in a winter. It would be unacceptable if they didn't have enough gas during the Spring Festival. They were a bit picky about this, so they charged a little more at a time. Since most of them ate at home anyway, it didn't matter if they didn't use it all, as they would have to keep using it anyway.

So this astonishing number remains.

"It's just cooking and the occasional wash. I looked it up online, and it's about 15 to 20 cubic meters a month," Xu Tiantu said. "But there are six of us now, so it's hard to say for sure. But considering we'll basically be cooking with firewood after crossing over, the gas consumption should be about the same. That's around 200 cubic meters a year. I think this amount will allow us to preserve our 'cash' for a while longer."

He then looked at the electricity bill again. "I still have 1050 kWh left. There's no rush. Let's take our time. Anyway, I added a lot of extra money to my bill since moving to a new house, but now it seems like it's all good news. It's just a shame about my subway card... I just bought a few commemorative editions, but it looks like I won't be able to use them anymore."

"Hey!! Wait!!" Xu Tiantu turned on the 'computer' that appeared out of thin air in the living room of his home. This was the computer that the system had mentioned before, the one that could be used to purchase various items. However, it was actually similar to a song-ordering station in a KTV, except that this one was fixed on a pillar in the living room and was a bit bigger.

"Let me see, the second-hand trading platform here..."

"I clicked on it and it showed my name, and underneath it was a bunch of my personal belongings."

Xu Tiantu clapped her hands! "Ha! This can be sold! Any personal belongings can be put up for sale. Then I can sell that little apartment I bought earlier, right? Hahahahaha, I'm going to be a rich woman."

As he pulled it all the way to the bottom, his smiling face instantly froze: "No...where's my house?"

Xu Yuanhu leaned over to take a look, but he was left logged on. The computer displayed only his cash balance and personal belongings. "No house, no car, just some basic necessities. Why is my razor on there? Can this be sold secondhand?"

Xu Tiantu shook her head. She was still in despair over not being able to sell the house. "Anything can be sold second-hand. You can't get the money out anyway, so you might as well just sell it."

"How much does it sell for?" Xu Yuanhu knew nothing about this kind of thing.

"How new is it?"

"It's only been opened for a week, and I've used it maybe once or twice."

"Then you can try to see if it's 50% off. Actually, if it's a normal day, I'll give it a 25% discount. You can decide for yourself which price you find acceptable."

"Okay." Xu Yuanhu was very curious about this 'new thing' and started to fiddle with it.

Grandpa Xu and Grandma Xu turned on the TV and started listening to the opera. After all, they couldn't listen to it as they pleased after arriving over there, unless they came back to their room.

This is so troublesome, hurry up!! Loud volume!!

Xu Tiantu stood up quickly: "I'll go say hello to the neighbors, maybe I can take care of them in the future."

Everyone had just come in not long ago and basically didn't know each other. They didn't even have the chance to achieve the 'achievement' of being familiar with each other, so they quickly took advantage of this time to show their faces.

I pulled the door handle and it wouldn't open at all!

Father Xu brought out the dishes and said, "Forget it, forget it. I guess it's restricted. Come and eat quickly."

Although everything was bought, everyone was in a complicated mood at the moment, so they didn't eat seriously and kept eating.

Xu Tiantu was still complaining: "Other people who travel through time and space have cheat codes, but we haven't seen any here. It seems that scripts like the protagonist being invincible have nothing to do with us."

Mother Xu smiled and said, "What's so good about being the protagonist? Haven't you seen those protagonists on TV who are always tortured first and then have a sweet ending?"

When watching TV shows and movies, she thinks this kind of plot is both melodramatic and quite interesting, but if it happened to her own children, she would definitely not want it: "As for me, it's fine to be a passerby A, B, C, or D. We can just live our own lives. In those days, it was not popular to just jump in and join in the fun."
