"Mom, wake up..."
"Mommy, I want Mommy, waaaaah..."
Shen Yu woke up to heart-wrenching cries.
She opened her eyes, looked at the dilapidated mud-brick house in front of her, and at the thin, tearful, and innocent faces in front of her, and it took her a while to react.
She came back to life!
She was certain that while rescuing people at the beach, she was swept into the deep sea by a wave, and her brain seemed to hit something, plunging her into darkness.
Seeing how dilapidated the house was and how thin and weak the children looked, she wondered if she had traveled back to some impoverished era.
Shen Yu then looked at the three children surrounding the bed, two sons and a daughter!
The youngest little girl sat on the edge of the bed, her body pressed against hers.
They were all wearing old, patched, gray-blue clothes, which looked like they were from the 1970s or 80s.
While Shen Yu was racking her brains to think quickly, the children who were crying around her finally realized that she had opened her eyes and then they realized what was happening!
The eldest boy reached up and forcefully wiped his tear-streaked face, looking at her with surprise and joy, "Mom, you're awake..."
The smaller boy also smiled through his tears, eagerly crowding around her and asking with concern, "Mommy, Mommy, are you alright? Are you alright?"
The youngest little girl, just over two years old, happily jumped onto her, nuzzling against her affectionately and calling out in her childish voice, "Mama, Mama, Mama..."
That cute, sweet, and slightly joyful soft baby voice melted Shen Yu's heart.
Shen Yu reached out and patted her head, coaxing her, "Little Bao, Mommy's alright, don't worry..."
Those last two sentences were also spoken to the other two children.
Sure enough, when they heard her say that everything was alright, the two older boys breathed a sigh of relief, and their tense expressions visibly relaxed.
Looking at the three thin children with particularly large eyes, Shen Yu couldn't help but feel a pang of heartache.
In modern times, she is a powerful female CEO who is single-mindedly focused on her career and acts decisively.
Although she had never been married or had children, she felt genuine heartache and pity for these weak and pitiful children.
The eldest boy noticed that her lips were a little dry, so he quickly got up and poured her a large glass of warm water. "Mom, drink some water."
Shen Yu sat up and drank a large glass of warm water. Only then did she feel her mind clear up and she felt much better.
Shen Yu wanted to get out of bed and go out to see what was happening.
However, they discovered that the body's limbs were completely unresponsive and had no strength at all.
Her legs were as weak as noodles, and she couldn't stand up at all.
Shen Yu collapsed back onto the bed, exhausted.
Seeing her like this, the eldest boy quickly said to her, "Mom, lie down for a while. If there's anything you need, just tell me and I'll do it."
Shen Yu looked at the sensible boy and reached out to pat his head. "Da Bao is such a good boy. What day is it now? How long did Mom sleep?"
She had only asked Da Bao tentatively, but to her surprise, the clever Da Bao actually answered.
“Mom, you’ve been asleep for two days and two nights. We called you but you wouldn’t wake up. We were so scared! Grandpa and Grandma came to see you. Grandma said you had a fever and gave you a tablet of Analgin. You finally woke up. Today is the sixth day of the fifth lunar month…”
The clever Da Bao spoke very logically and clearly, and in just a few words, he made Shen Yu understand what had happened in the past two days.
Just as Shen Yu was about to speak, she heard the children's stomachs rumble.
Meeting Shen Yu's concerned gaze, Da Bao quickly reached out and covered his stomach, as if that would stop the groaning. He then smiled at Shen Yu somewhat embarrassedly.
This child is so sensible, and it's also heartbreaking.
The other two younger children also started to whine to her, "Mommy, I'm hungry too..."
"Mom, I'm hungry too, so hungry, I want to eat..."
Looking at the three children in front of her with bright eyes who regarded her as their pillar of support, Shen Yu felt a lump in her throat, a feeling of wanting to cry and being reluctant to part with them.
This complex emotion isn't hers!
It must be the original owner's lingering obsession!
Just then, Shen Yu suddenly felt dizzy, and a memory of a strange woman flooded into her mind.
After she had absorbed all of the original owner's memories, Shen Yu finally breathed a long sigh of relief.
To Shen Yu's surprise, the original owner of this body was actually an educated youth who went to the countryside in Bao'an County from Guangzhou back then!
The original owner had a high school diploma, and both of her parents were professors at a university in the provincial capital.
However, because the original owner's father, Shen Zhengqing, had studied abroad and the Shen family had overseas connections, the couple were sent down to a farm in a remote area.
Not long after, the original owner's father died in an accident on the farm.
Unable to bear the torment, the original owner's mother secretly fled the farm, and there was no news of her afterward.
Some say that the original owner's mother secretly went to Hong Kong.
Some say that the original owner's mother died at sea.
In just one year, the original owner's life underwent earth-shattering changes. From a pampered princess, she fell to become a child whose parents were both bad elements.
Her family underwent a dramatic change, and no one dared to take her in.
Having nowhere to go in the city, she had just graduated from high school and had no choice but to go to the countryside as an educated youth with tears in her eyes.
