Chapter 30 Hidden Secretly

"What's going on? Are you two okay?" Old Mrs. An stepped up to them, looked at her daughter and then at her son. She wanted to help but didn't dare. Her confused expression made people feel distressed.

An Hongdou had never enjoyed any family love since her parents divorced in her previous life. When she was looked at by Old Lady An, her heart instantly softened.

"Mom, my brother and I are fine. This is all the blood of the wild boar." An Hongdou held the two hands of Mrs. An, who had nowhere to put them, and pointed at the wild boar and said to her proudly, "See? We killed these. When we get home, I'll make braised pork for mom."

Instead of feeling the touching feeling she had imagined, Old Lady An slapped her on the shoulder.

There was a loud bang, and the force was so strong that An Hongdou was stunned.

"You silly girl, who wants to eat that piece of meat? You ran up the mountain alone without saying a word, without thinking about what would happen if something happened to you, how would I, your mother, live?" Old lady An was crying. She had always doted on her daughter, and this was the first time she felt that her daughter was so annoying.

It wasn't that An Hongdou was hurt by her beating.

It’s just that at first I didn’t realize why I was being beaten.

After listening to what Old Lady An said, she suddenly understood how pitiful all parents in the world are.

"Mom, stop crying. I know I was wrong. I won't do this again next time, okay?" An Hongdou quickly coaxed her mother in a gentle voice.

Old Lady An insisted, "Do you want to do it again? I think you were not beaten enough when you were little, so I want to give you a good beating to teach you a lesson, right?"

"No, no, there won't be a next time. I said the wrong thing." In order to appease old lady An, An Hongdou had to admit her mistake for the time being.

I originally wanted to help Old Lady An go home first, but unexpectedly, she suddenly stopped crying, stared at the wild boars, and asked, "Did you three hunt these wild boars?"

Of course, she said this purely to take advantage.

She never thought that her daughter could kill three wild boars by herself, and she knew exactly what her son was like.

There is absolutely no problem with working in the fields, but going up the mountain to hunt is definitely not an option.

An Hongdou didn't hear anything strange in these words, and simply nodded, "Yes."

If she said she was the only one who got beaten, probably no one would believe her. Anyway, three of them came back together, so everyone got a share of the blame.

Zhang Jianjun and An Hongbing thought so too.

"Since it was you three who beat him, then carry him to our house first."

Old Lady An's words caused a sensation in the entire crowd.

"Aunt, we can't do this. This mountain belongs to the country, and the things inside are collective property. Although the wild boar was brought back by the three of them, everyone in our village has a share. How can we just carry it to your house like this?"

I'm sure everyone won't agree with this.

"It's true that the things are collective, but why don't you go to the mountains to get them yourself?" The old woman has been used to being powerful all her life, so how could she suffer such a loss? "Everyone knows that it's dangerous in the mountains. If you want to go to the mountains to get things, you have to risk your life. We didn't fight for things with our families, but we just gave them to you for nothing. What do we want?"

"Well, we can't carry them all to your house anyway!"

Someone started to speak, "We can't listen to him. Let's carry the wild boar to the captain. As for how to divide it, we will listen to the captain."

Andelai is relatively fair in managing affairs in the village and has a certain prestige.

Mrs. An certainly couldn't give up just like that, even though she knew in her heart that it would be impossible to monopolize the business, she still had to strive for the greatest benefit for her family and ask for as much as she could.

Mrs. An wanted to fight for it again, but just as she was about to open her mouth, An Hongdou quietly pulled her back.

In just this way, she didn't catch any of the three wild boars, and all of them were carried away.

Old Mrs. An felt like her heart was bleeding. She turned around and glared at An Hongdou fiercely, "Why are you pulling me, girl?" She had delayed her from getting more meat for her family. What a pity!

An Hongdou lowered her head and whispered something in her ear. Mrs. An's eyes lit up instantly, "Girl, you are smart. You are just like your mother in this respect!"

After Mrs. An finished speaking, she immediately saw Zhang Jianjun standing beside her, and said with a smile: "Zhang Zhiqing, I really troubled you to go into the mountains today. Fortunately, your trip was not in vain. You got a few big fat pigs, which can finally let everyone in our village have a good meal of meat."

"You're too polite, Auntie. Xiangzhi and I are friends, and Comrade Shen is his wife. It's my duty to help go up the mountain to look for her." Zhang Jianjun was exhausted after all this trouble. Although he was still very curious about An Hongdou, he went back first under the slightly disdainful gaze of Old Lady An.

On the way back, he was still wondering what An Hongdou had said to Old Lady An that made the greedy Old Lady An give up fighting for the pork.

At the dark entrance of the village, only Old Lady An and her sister An Hongdou were left.

Mrs. An was relieved and asked, "My daughter, are you telling the truth? Did you really hide a sheep in the mountains?"

Although the pork was taken away by others, it was still a lot for me to eat the whole sheep alone.

An Hongbing was very surprised. "Little sister, when did you hide the sheep? How come I didn't know?"

He followed all the way back, but didn't see any sheep?

"I caught it before I met you guys. I was in a hurry to hunt the wild boar, so I put the sheep behind a tree. When I came back, I thought I couldn't get all of it anyway, so I didn't tell it." One lie requires a thousand lies to cover it up. An Hongdou also understood this truth, but she couldn't help but say it.

"So that's how it is." An Hongbing understood. "But that place is not close. It's late at night. How can you run there alone? Besides, such a long time has passed. The sheep may have been taken away by other wild animals. We won't starve even if we eat less meat. It's better not to risk going up the mountain again."

When Mrs. An heard An Hongbing say that the place was far away, she felt uneasy about letting her go up the mountain again, so she also said forget it.

If she really wants to eat meat, she will just throw a tantrum and ask for a few more pounds to satisfy her children's cravings.

An Hongdou didn't take it to heart. "Brother, I killed those three wild boars by myself. Is there any other beast in this mountain that can beat me? Besides, even if I really meet one that I can't beat, with my skills, I can easily escape."

"That's too dangerous. No, no." Old Mrs. An kept shaking her head.

An Hongdou looked around, and in order to make them trust him, he aimed at a big tree not far away from him, walked over calmly, and punched the tree.

With a loud crack, the tree, as thick as a bowl, was broken at the root by her punch and fell to the ground.
