Chapter 29 Return
An Ran got on the plane in a good mood. Her seat was by the window. When she found her seat, a young man wearing a mask was already sitting outside with his eyes closed.
"Hello, please make way."
An Ran greeted politely.
The man suddenly opened his eyes, and An Ran was stunned.
What kind of eyes are those? His narrow and long phoenix eyes were slightly raised, and the bottom of his eyes were like a deep pool, cold and distant, as if everything was not in his eyes.
He silently stood up and gave way, his temperament was cold and noble, like a flower on a high mountain that could not be desecrated. There was not a trace of surprise in the look he gave An Ran.
Anran thanked him and went inside to sit down.
The man next to him didn't respond and sat down silently. An Ran, who was sitting next to the man, felt something strange in her heart. It was not because of the man's outstanding appearance, but because An Ran could sense a very familiar aura from the man.
An Ran shook her head and didn't think about it any more. Thinking that she would be able to get home and see her parents soon, a hint of smile appeared in her cold peach blossom eyes. She closed her eyes and rested, not expecting that there was a big surprise waiting for her at home.
When An Ran closed her eyes, the man sitting next to her suddenly opened his eyes, looked at An Ran with a puzzled look, and then closed his eyes again to rest.
......
As evening approached, Anran walked briskly on the way home. As the sun sets, the sunset turns the sky red. Anran looked very excited; the day's bumpy ride didn't make her look tired at all.
As An Ran watched the gate of her house getting closer and closer, a bright smile appeared on her face. She took two steps at a time, ran forward, and pushed open the door of her house.
"Mom and Dad, I'm back."
The clear voice was accompanied by a smile.
Everyone sitting in the yard looked towards the gate. An Ran's smile froze on her face, and there was disbelief in her eyes. She looked around in confusion, and sure enough, it was her home.
"Come back, of course."
Lin Qingwan, who was in the house, heard her daughter's voice and walked out quickly in surprise.
"You bad girl, you didn't even tell me when you came back so your dad could pick you up."
An Ran still looked as if she was out of her trance. She knew all the relatives at home, but she had never seen these people before. When her eyes caught sight of a familiar face, an idea suddenly occurred to her mind.
“You’re the one….”
An Ran pointed at the young man who was sitting on a stool and drinking tea leisurely.
"What? You rude girl, call someone quickly."
Lin Qingwan walked over with amusement and patted An Ran's hand as she pointed at Lin Huaizhi.
An Ran was a little stunned. She asked innocently, "Mom, what's my name?"
Lin Qingwan smiled suddenly and said, "By the way, Ranran doesn't know you yet." Then she introduced them one by one.
Mother Lin and Lin Qingtang flew here the day before, and she often heard Lin Qingwan praising An Ran for all her good qualities. Now I see An Ran standing there pretty. Suddenly, several people gathered around curiously.
"Of course, I'm your grandma. Come on, call me grandma."
"I'm grandpa, call me grandpa first."
"Call me uncle, call me uncle."
"Of course, we have met before. I am your cousin."
Faced with the enthusiasm of several people, An Ran's face froze with smile.
"Hello grandma, hello grandpa, hello uncle, hello cousin, hello everyone. Hehehehe."
Seeing her daughter's embarrassment, Lin Qingwan felt a little distressed. In the end, she was unable to rescue An Ran from the enthusiastic encirclement of several people.
With her usual unreasonable style, Lin's mother successfully snatched An Ran to her side, and the three grown men could only give in to her reluctantly.
"My Ranran is so beautiful, follow me."
Mother Lin held Anran's hand curiously, smiling brightly.
"Tsk, why don't you just say you follow me? I was a handsome man back then, and my Ranran is so pretty, she must follow me."
Grandpa Lin looked at An Ran with eager eyes. His soft and sweet little granddaughter was monopolized by this overbearing old woman.
Mother Lin rolled her eyes at Grandpa Lin in dissatisfaction and spoke sarcastically.
"With your wrinkled face, my Ranran is no match for you. You keep flattering yourself, do you still want to save face?"
"Boss, please tell me something fair. Who does our Ranran follow?"
Mr. Lin was rebuked by Lin's mother and became extremely dissatisfied.
Lin Qingtang showed an embarrassment on his face. Every time the two old men quarreled, they asked him to judge the dispute. In the end, he was caught in a dilemma and was scolded by both of them.
"I think Ranran should follow me."
Lin Qingtang smiled awkwardly. He would be blamed anyway and would suffer on both sides, so he might as well say what he wanted to say.
"Oh, they are father and son, they are both equally thick-skinned."
Mother Lin glanced at the father and son with contempt.
Lin Huaizhi tried hard to curl himself up into a small ball, praying silently that he would not be pulled in. He is the youngest and no one can afford to offend him. Unfortunately, God did not hear his prayers. Lin's mother's voice was like a thunderclap, shaking his heart.
"Huaizhi, tell me, who does your cousin follow?"
“Hey, grandma…hey….”
Lin Huaizhi looked embarrassed, and several elders were staring at him covetously. He looked at An Ran for help, and An Ran looked at him with a playful smile. His eyes fell on Lin Qingwan, and he suddenly jumped up as if he had been struck by lightning and hid behind her.
"Aunt, save me."
Lin Qingwan found it funny when she saw his pitiful appearance.
"Mom, Dad, Brother, please don't embarrass Huaizhi. Look how scared the child is."
At this moment, the yard door banged and was pushed open from outside.
"Ding ding ding ding... Sister, your most handsome and darling brother is back. Come over and greet him."
An Ning rushed into the gate carrying his schoolbag and struck a pose at the door that he thought was super cool.
The bustling crowd in the yard suddenly fell silent, and everyone looked at An Ning, who had suddenly broken in, as if they were watching a monkey show.
There was a "puchi" laugh and everyone in the yard couldn't help but burst into laughter.
An Ning didn't expect that there would be so many strangers in her house. She was so embarrassed that her toes tapped the ground. She hid in the room with her schoolbag, at a loss.
"Haha, this monkey is so funny."
Mother Lin laughed so hard that she fell backwards and tears came out of her eyes.
Lin Qingwan said with a bit of a smile: "This child has no manners at all. He didn't even know how to say hello and just went back to his room."
Having said that, he went into the house and called An Ning out.
After a while, An Ning followed Lin Qingwan out shyly. Then they introduced each other again. An Ning was originally cheerful and lively. He quickly forgot his embarrassing behavior and became one with the crowd.
Everyone laughed for a while before quieting down again. It was only then that An Ran raised a question.
"Mom, I've never heard you talk about grandma's family before. I always thought we didn't have grandparents."
Lin Qingwan's eyes became moist again. Seeing that his sister was upset, Lin Qingtang couldn't bear to let her repeat what happened that year. So, he concealed the part about An Ran's life experience and told An Ran and her brother the whole story. This was also something that the elders had discussed together, to temporarily conceal An Ran's background.
An Ning was a rather impatient person, and after hearing this she couldn't help but curse the Ji family. Although An Ran felt that there was something illogical in her uncle's words, she didn't bother to think too much when she saw her mother's sad look, and she quickly hugged Lin Qingwan and comforted her softly.
Everyone's expressions were a little heavy. Mr. Lin slowly took a sip of tea and took a deep breath to suppress his anger.
"Guodong."
"Hey, Dad."
An Guodong, who had been acting as an invisible man nearby, quickly agreed.
"How about this, Ranran and Ning'er are both back today. Huaizhi, go find a good hotel in town and book two tables of food and drinks. Guodong, I heard from Qingwan that your two brothers have been taking good care of you. Go and invite their whole family to have a meal together. First, thank them for their care over the years, and second, it can be considered as a recognition of family ties."
Lin Huaizhi agreed and hurried out. An Guodong was overjoyed and went to his two younger brothers' homes happily.
