Chapter 50: Mr. Jiang
An Guodong patted Lin Qingwan gently, as if coaxing a child.
"Okay, I'm fine, don't be sad."
Lin Qingwan cried for a while and felt embarrassed. She was so angry that she grabbed An Guodong's ear and glared at him with her almond-shaped eyes wide open.
"You are so good, An Guodong. It seems that you and your daughter are a family. You two have teamed up to fool me."
An Ran looked at her mother in astonishment, who was showing signs of developing into a tigress. She ignored An Guodong's look for help and gave him a look that told him to fend for himself. Seeing that the situation was not good, she ran away as fast as she could.
An Guodong looked at his little cotton-padded jacket in disbelief when he saw her running away from the battlefield. He could only lower his head and let Lin Qingwan scold him, and then she would gently admit her mistake, reflect on herself, and comfort her.
.......
A few days later.
An Ran knocked on the door and entered Mr. Lin’s study.
"Grandpa, are you looking for me?"
"Well, of course, please sit down and talk."
Mr. Lin put down his teacup with a look of enjoyment. If you are familiar with him, you will notice his amazing change. Now he looks energetic and his face is rosy, and even his gray hair has turned a little darker.
"There is something I want to discuss with you."
Mr. Lin was very kind to An Ran and never used his status as an elder to pressure others.
"Grandpa, you say."
An Ran nodded seriously.
"I have an old friend who has a rather special position."
Mr. Lin said this, pointing his finger upwards.
"We have a very good relationship. It can be said that he has helped the Lin family a lot. Now he has a strange disease. The hospitals can't find any problems, but his body functions are rapidly declining and he is getting weaker and weaker. I went to see him a few days ago. Hey, he's almost dying. His family members are desperate and are trying all kinds of treatments. Ranran, can you help take a look?"
An Ran lowered her eyes and said nothing, thinking silently in her heart.
"Of course, if it's too difficult, just pretend Grandpa never said it."
Mr. Lin didn't want to embarrass An Ran, so he wanted to ask An Ran's opinion first. He hadn't mentioned her old friend yet.
An Ran looked up at Mr. Lin and spoke.
“Grandpa, is this elder important to you?”
"yes."
There was a hint of reminiscence in Mr. Lin’s voice.
"Back then, we went to college together and served in the army together. We were each other's comrades. Later, I retired and returned home, while he stayed in the army and went through life and death to achieve what he has today. We have been in contact all these years."
An Ran respects soldiers very much. In her eyes, soldiers are heroes. It is also because of the soldiers defending our country that we have a happy and peaceful home.
"Okay, Grandpa will take care of the arrangements."
An Ran agreed very seriously.
There was a flash of surprise in Mr. Lin's eyes. He knew that An Ran was a cautious person and didn't want to expose her differences too much. So, this time he just wanted to give it a try, and he didn't expect An Ran to agree.
"Okay, of course. No matter if it works or not, I thank you on behalf of my old friend."
"Grandpa, you're too polite. We are a family."
Anran smiled, with a lively light in her peach blossom eyes.
"Yes, yes, we are a family."
Mr. Lin nodded happily in agreement.
An Ran did not disturb Mr. Lin any further. She said something and left the study.
In the study, Mr. Lin couldn't wait to call his old friend's home.
"Uncle Lin."
A steady male voice came from the other end of the phone.
"Shenxing, is your father feeling better?
"Uncle Lin, my dad is still the same. Thank you for your concern."
Jiang Shenxing is the eldest son of Mr. Lin’s good friend Jiang De, and is now also a soldier.
"It's like this. I'm going to visit your father tomorrow. I'll bring my granddaughter with me. Maybe she can help with your father's illness."
"Really, Uncle Lin."
Jiang Shenxing's voice became a little high-pitched for a moment, then calmed down again.
"My father's illness has nothing the doctors can do for him."
"I know. Don't you still trust your Uncle Lin? Let's talk about it tomorrow when we get there. You can make the arrangements."
It’s not easy to go to that place, and ordinary people can’t get in.
Jiang Shenxing agreed, but he still didn't believe it in his heart. Well, after all, Uncle Lin has good intentions, and Dad will feel better when he sees Uncle Lin.
The next day.
Mr. Lin said hello to his family and took An Ran out. The driver drove straight to the Jiang family.
An Ran followed Mr. Lin to the gate of a large courtyard, where there were soldiers standing guard. After a moment, a middle-aged man with an upright figure and extraordinary aura hurried out.
The soldier at the door saw the man saluted solemnly, then opened the door and let Mr. Lin and An Ran enter the compound.
"Uncle Lin, sorry to have kept you waiting."
"Haha, be careful, we just arrived too."
Mr. Lin had a smile on his face, and then he spoke calmly.
"Of course, this is Uncle Jiang."
"Hello, Uncle Jiang."
An Ran smiled and politely said hello.
"Yes, it's good."
Jiang Shenxing's resolute face cracked for a moment. Uncle Lin's granddaughter was indeed beautiful, but he couldn't tell that she could cure diseases.
Forget it, as long as the old men are happy. Today, when the old man heard that Uncle Lin was coming, he ate half an extra bowl of porridge.
Jiang Shenxing brought the two of them to a villa and walked into the living room. The living room was clean and simple in layout. An Ran followed behind him up the stairs and into a room.
"Hahahaha, Lao Lin, you're here."
The room is spacious, clean and well-lit. There was a skinny old man lying on the bed, with sunken eyes and a pale face. When he saw Mr. Lin come in, a happy smile appeared on his face.
"Old Jiang, how do you feel today?"
Mr. Lin quickly stepped forward to help Mr. Jiang who was struggling to get up.
"Ah, it's the same old thing. I don't think my old bones will last much longer."
Mr. Jiang's tone was relaxed and open-minded, without any sense of decadence as if he was about to die.
Mr. Lin pulled An Ran to his side.
"Come, look at my granddaughter."
Mr. Jiang felt his eyes brighten. The girl was extremely beautiful and had an aura of spirituality about her.
"Okay, okay, okay."
Mr. Jiang's voice sounded a little weak.
"Old Lin, your granddaughter is really great. She's a very good child. I didn't even go to see Qingwan when she came back. Alas, I'm too weak to do that."
"Old Jiang, I didn't bring this child here for you to see today. I brought her to treat you."
"Hahahahahaha, Lao Lin. You still like to joke so much."
Old Jiang laughed so hard that tears came out. This old guy is still so unreliable.
“Of course.”
Mr. Lin glanced at An Ran and motioned for her to show herself to Mr. Jiang.
An Ran nodded, reached out to hold Mr. Jiang's pulse, and used her spiritual sense to travel inside Mr. Jiang's body. After a moment, An Ran let go of her hand and looked at Mr. Lin, seeming to want to say something but stopping herself.
"Nothing, go ahead."
Mr. Lin nodded. There were only four of them in the room. There was no need to mention Mr. Jiang. Jiang Shenxing was also someone he could trust.
Old Jiang and Jiang Shenxing looked at the two of them with confusion, and Old Jiang couldn't help laughing.
"What are you doing, old man?"
"Grandpa Jiang has been poisoned."
An Ran's words shocked everyone.
