Lin Chen Extra: Monologue Under the Stars
In the dead of night, the Silvermoon Tribe was immersed in tranquility. Only the occasional crackling of the central campfire and the chirping of unknown insects from the distant forest intertwined to create the nocturne of this primitive world.
Lin Chen gently rose from his animal hide, careful not to disturb Canglan, who slept beside him. Even in his sleep, the wolf warrior maintained a state of alert relaxation, his long silver-gray hair cascading across his pillow like flowing moonlight. Lin Chen's eyes shone with a tenderness and attachment he hadn't even noticed.
He put on a thin animal skin coat, walked out of the cave quietly, stepped on the cool night dew, and climbed the small hill not far away. Here the view was wide, and he could see the general outline of the tribe and the brilliant starry sky.
The night breeze brushed against his weathered yet still handsome face. How long had he been in this world? He no longer bothered to calculate the years according to modern society. Here, time was marked by the passing of seasons, harvests, and tribal celebrations, slow and steady, like the deep earth beneath his feet.
He looked up, searching for the brightest stars in the night sky. Once upon a time, in another world, in another entirely different civilization, he had gazed up at the same stars. Back then, he was a modern man with a sense of alienation, immersed in a world constructed by knowledge and rationality, never imagining that his life would be so dramatically changed.
Memories are like twinkling stars in the night sky, flickering.
He clearly remembered that fatal moment—the screeching sound of brakes, the blinding white light, and then the tearing pain and endless darkness. He thought everything was over, but when he opened his eyes again, he was greeted by towering ancient trees and a completely unfamiliar sky.
Fear, bewilderment, helplessness... those emotions are still vivid in his mind. He was like a child who had strayed into a land of giants, his common sense shattered, and survival became the most daunting challenge.
Then, he met Canglan.
When he first laid eyes on the giant silver-gray wolf, he thought he was doomed. But those golden eyes didn't reveal the bloodlust and cruelty he'd expected. Instead, they held a curious, intelligent gaze. When the wolf transformed into the tall, muscular man before him, with sharp yet harmless eyes, Lin Chen's worldview collapsed and rebuilt for the second time.
It was Canglan who brought him out of the dangerous forest, it was Canglan who gave him the initial shelter, and it was also Canglan who, in that clumsy but sincere way, gradually resolved his anxiety and led him to integrate into this rough and simple world.
Recalling the skeptical and fearful looks of the tribesmen when he first tried to make fire by rubbing two sticks together; the shock and awe on their faces when he successfully started his first fire; and the surprised expressions on their faces when he tasted his first bite of cooked food, as if the door to a new world had been opened... Lin Chen couldn't help but raise the corners of his mouth slightly.
In those days, he relied on what little modern knowledge he had, experimenting bit by bit, failing time and again, and starting over again with Canglan's silent support. He made pottery, searched for salt, built houses, stored grain, domesticated animals, and provided medical treatment... Like a toddler, he integrated everything he knew with the realities of the world.
The journey wasn't smooth sailing. There were doubts, setbacks, unforeseen difficulties, and even threats from other tribes. But he never felt truly alone. Canglan was always by his side, like a solid backing, shielding him from both open and hidden attacks, and providing him with unconditional trust and strength.
He went from being a "stranger" who didn't fit in to someone else, to becoming a "wise man" of the Silvermoon Tribe, a partner recognized by Canglan, and a respected "mentor" of the Alliance. This process enriched his life and reshaped his soul.
Here, he experienced a sense of value he'd never experienced in modern society. His knowledge was no longer just cold, cold words in a book; it had the power to truly improve and save lives. Every successful endeavor, every smile he brought to a smile on a face, deepened his connection with the world.
He also experienced the true meaning of pure emotion. The tribe members' likes and dislikes were direct and clear, and Canglan's emotions were as thick and scorching as the earth, unconcealed. This directness and honesty initially made him feel at a loss, but eventually he became addicted, feeling an unprecedented sense of stability and warmth.
He lost the convenience and prosperity of modern society, but gained a vast world, sincere emotions, a group of friends who regarded him as family, and a lover who regarded him as her life and whom he was willing to respond with his own life.
Lin Chen sighed softly, a sigh without regret, only a sense of peace and contentment after enduring so much. He thought of his family and friends far away in another time and space, and a faint longing and guilt still welled up in his heart, but he knew that everything there was truly "the past." His present and future lay right here, beneath this starry sky, in this world with Canglan.
"Can't sleep again?" A low and familiar voice sounded behind him, and a thicker animal skin cloak was wrapped around his shoulders, bringing with it a reassuring body temperature.
Lin Chen didn't look back, but leaned back naturally, into a warm and solid embrace. Canglan's chin rested lightly on the top of his head, and her arms wrapped around him.
"Yeah, I came out to look at the stars." Lin Chen replied softly, relaxing in his lover's arms, "I remembered a lot of things from the past."
Canglan didn't ask further questions, simply tightening his grip, expressing his understanding with silent companionship. His silver-gray eyes also gazed at the starry sky, where he saw the familiar Wolf God constellation and the many new constellations that Lin Chen had taught him to recognize. The star knowledge of the two worlds merged wonderfully under this night sky.
"Canglan," Lin Chen suddenly spoke in a very soft voice, "Thank you for bringing me back."
Canglan chuckled softly, his chest trembling slightly. "That was the most successful hunt of my life." He paused, his voice becoming incredibly serious. "It was also the most precious gift the Wolf God bestowed upon me."
Lin Chen's heart was warmed by these words. He turned around and, under the bright starlight, gazed at Canglan's handsome figure, still standing tall even after the passing of time, and his silver-gray eyes, always filled with deep affection and devotion for him.
"I'm so glad," Lin Chen reached out and touched Canglan's cheek, feeling the familiar warmth on his fingertips. "I'm glad that I was the one who got lost that day, and it was you who found me. I'm glad to have come here, to have met you, and everyone else."
Canglan held his hand, brought it to her lips and kissed it gently: "The alliance has changed because of you, and I am complete because of you, Chen."
The two fell silent, their embrace gazing up at the ever-changing, radiant starry sky. Beneath the night sky, the Silvermoon Tribe slept peacefully, the occasional steady footsteps of the Night Watchmen echoing in the distance. This land, protected and built together, carries their sweat, wisdom, love, and heritage.
The memory of modern civilization may gradually fade, but the knowledge that is integrated into the bones and blood, the deep bonds formed with the people around him, and every effort made for this tribe and alliance have become an inseparable part of Lin Chen's life.
He is no longer the stranger who accidentally fell here, but the real Lin Chen of the Silver Moon Tribe, Canglan's partner, and the mentor of the Alliance.
The starry sky is vast, encompassing countless worlds and possibilities. And for Lin Chen, the place beneath these stars, where Canglan lies, is his home, his eternity.
He tilted his head slightly and kissed Canglan's jaw.
"Go back, it's cold outside."
Hand in hand, they walked down the hill, their figures gradually blending into the warm shadows of the tribe. Above them, the stars continued to flow quietly, bearing witness to this ordinary yet eternal warmth, and would continue to do so forever.
