Chapter 5 Another Survivor
This damned place was full of corpses lying on the ground. Their armor and colors were obviously divided into two camps. If it weren't for this very conspicuous flag, Liu Ende would not believe that a considerable number of the corpses lying on the ground were Romans, because they did not wear the chain mail unique to Rome at all. Instead, they were mostly simple chain mail. The helmets on their heads were no longer the Gallic helmets of the original Roman legions. It was really hard to imagine that these ghosts who had died in hell thousands of years ago would die again. So where would his soul's soul drift to? Such a world left him with too many incredible things, but the only thing he could be sure of was that what Liu Ende saw here was probably the first level of hell or whatever level it was. In short, Liu Ende didn't believe that he had done a great thing to save lives before he died. As the saying goes: saving a life is better than building a seven-story pagoda! Could it be that what he did was nothing? Besides, Liu Ende had never done anything evil in his life. No matter how the King of Hell calculated, this account could not be attributed to him! "Hey, King of Hell! I have a seven-story pagoda! You can't and are not allowed to do anything to me!"
Hey, he roared to the sky, startling the crows around him and making them fly in panic. At this moment, he felt much better. Liu Ende even puffed out his chest proudly, looking like a man who had done nothing wrong and was not afraid of ghosts knocking on his door. But the tearing pain from the wound in his abdomen was like a sudden bucket of cold water, which extinguished his spirit.
"Okay, okay, you won, so I admit defeat!"
Liu Ende held his stomach and smiled bitterly, leaning on the flagpole as a crutch. He really couldn't imagine if he met a Roman soldier who happened to pass by. If they saw Liu Ende holding the sacred legion flag as a crutch, would they rush up and cut him into pieces? Then he would really know what it felt like to be a ghost after death. Would it be another space, or was this the only way to move on to the next level of hell!
"Help! Is there anyone? Help me! Help me!"
The sudden scream brought Liu Ender back to reality. The language used was very strange. It was not English, but probably Latin. Liu Ender did not understand it, but ironically, Liu Ender could still understand what he said. Liu Ender looked around and finally found a pile of corpses on the lower left side of the hillside. There were many wild dogs gathered there. They formed a semicircle and stared at the corpses as if there was something inside. The sound came from there.
So, there are still living people, huh, living ghosts? Liu Ende was a little excited when he heard this voice. If he could save him, maybe he could learn about the situation here from him, but there were too many wild dogs there. Liu Ende was afraid that if he rushed up rashly, the meat on their bodies would be enough for the damned beasts to have a good meal. If he pretended not to hear and walked away, but then left the poor guy here and ignored him, wouldn't it be too cruel? No, no, the blood of justice was boiling, maybe this was his test? Liu Ende felt an inexplicable impulse surge in his heart.
He leaned on the flagpole and carefully moved down step by step, approaching the man. His eyes were searching for favorable terrain, and his mind was working hard to think of a way to save him and escape. Soon, Liu Ende found that the man was not far from the river, the Forgotten River, about ten meters away.
"It seems that the only option is to take a risk!"
His heart was pounding at this moment. Before everything was over, there was no certainty of life or death. For Liu Ende, who had just experienced the pain of death, he really didn't know if he still had the courage to dance on the edge of the knife again. After all, this beast was much more cruel than a human being.
The wild dogs lowered their bodies. Anyone who has seen the animal world knows that this is a preparation before attacking. The man in front of the wild dogs sat there, waving the iron sword in his hand desperately to scare the wild dogs, making them afraid to move forward! Wild dogs are very cunning and cruel carnivores. With such a flawed defense, the cunning predator has already caught his flaws. He doesn't care about waving the silver iron sword back and forth. At least the sword's lethality is much sharper than their fangs and claws.
"Ah! Ah! Help me! Help me!"
The poor fellow was obviously panicked. He supported his body with his left hand and kept wriggling backwards like a worm, while he swung the iron sword with his right hand and slashed wildly at the air in front of him. This was a stupid thing to do because he was wasting his energy in vain.
"Hey! Shut up! Save your energy."
Liu Ende couldn't bear it any longer, so he shouted loudly, trying to calm the panicked idiot down. For some reason, Liu Ende could speak fluently what he wanted to say. Was this a natural ability he had in the underworld?
There was no time to wonder why he was so powerful, because Liu Ende soon discovered that his shout had brought him trouble. The wild dogs quickly pricked up their ears and looked towards Liu Ende.
It seems that my retreat is blocked now. Liu Ende hurriedly drew out the iron sword, leaned on the flagpole with his left hand and slowly came behind the idiot.
"Oh, oh, thank God, you really are the angel sent by Jesus to save me!"
The man did not look back because he was worried that the wild wolf would suddenly attack him at this time, but Liu Ende could hear from his tone that he was extremely excited at this moment and even began to sob.
"Oh, shut up, you've all been dead for a while, what's there to panic about?"
Because of Liu Ende's appearance, the wild dogs were a little overwhelmed. Perhaps they were surprised by the large piece of fat meat and didn't know how to divide it. This bought Liu Ende a lot of time.
"Ha, indeed, being able to survive in this battlefield that is like purgatory is really no different from dying once." The stranger stopped retreating and sat there, breathing heavily. It seemed that swinging the iron sword constantly had indeed consumed a lot of his energy. Now he finally found support in his heart, and he was no longer as stupid as before.
But is the real situation really like this strange poor creature? Obviously not. There is a large group of strong wild dogs, and two wild ghosts who are still alive. If the wild dogs see that they are vulnerable, I am afraid that they will become skeletons before sunset. Liu Ende wanted to move, but as soon as he exerted force, he felt extremely severe pain in his abdomen, which almost made him unable to use any strength.
"Hold the iron sword and wait for me!"
Liu Ende said to him as he tore off a long thin strip of cloth from a corpse beside him. There was no time to sew up the wound, and Liu Ende did not have the skills to do so, so it would be better to tighten the chain mail on the outside first, which would at least have a slight effect in stopping the bleeding.
The man turned around and saw the horrible wound on Liu Ende's stomach. The flame of hope that had been burning in his eyes soon died out. Liu Ende inserted the strip of cloth into the gap of the chain mail little by little, just like sewing up a hole in a sock, inserting it back and forth. The pain caused by the tightening made his forehead covered with sweat.

"If I really can't make it, please leave me here. My legs are injured and I don't want to drag you down!"
As the man spoke, he moved his leg to show Liu Ende. It turned out that he was shot by an arrow. The sharp arrow pierced his thigh, but perhaps it did not injure the blood vessels. Liu Ende did not see any symptoms of heavy bleeding in his leg.
"Shut up, I'm here. If you don't want to drag me down, then what are you shouting about?"
Enduring the severe pain, Liu Ende finally bandaged the wound in his abdomen. He once again grabbed the flagpole and supported himself to stand up!
