Chapter 57 The Beast

Chapter 57: The Beast

"We are surrounded. We can't escape! We can't escape!"

Fermiou's voice was trembling, and his hand holding the sword was shaking like he was having the hiccups. The left side of the phalanx was being held tightly by the Burgundians who swarmed over, and the right side, where I was, was being attacked by groups of war mastiffs that pounced on the lone soldiers one after another. Their deaths were almost identical, with their necks torn apart, and the blood that gushed out dyed the ground red.

The centurion was dead, and there was no one to give orders and stabilize the morale of the army. The soldiers were beaten back again and again, and they were about to be defeated! In such a situation, if the morale of the soldiers collapsed, then the time to our death would undoubtedly be accelerated and count down quickly.

"Centurion!" An idea flashed through my mind, but the centurion was already dead. If a replacement was not found, the phalanx would collapse sooner or later. In my anxiety, I cast my eyes on the wooden whistle on the chest of the centurion's body. Whistle, yes! The soldiers all understand whistles! It's like they need a centurion!

"Andrew!" I turned around and called out to him, "We must stabilize the formation!"

At this moment, the surviving coachman drove the carriage and began to move slowly back. It seemed that Aetius was still unwilling to give up and did not give up hope of escaping for a moment.

"Protect the carriage, protect the carriage!"

Levi abandoned the cavalry entangled by the war mastiffs, waved his big hand, and called the cavalry on the inside of the road to turn back. "Hey! Levi!" I shouted his name loudly, hoping that this guy could lead us out, even if it meant that the three of us had to walk. But Levi glanced at us, and I thought that if he had any feelings, he would at least wave to the three of us, or even say "follow me". But he turned around and ran away, which was really too much! However, Levi's actions made me realize that I was too self-indulgent. This guy completely ignored my existence.

"Fuck! I shouldn't have put my hopes in this traitor!"

I cursed, but the war mastiff outside the shield was constantly looking for my weakness, so I couldn't even free my hands to give the traitor a middle finger. I tightly grasped the cavalry sword that the guy gave me, which seemed quite ironic because I was asking for help from the guy I had always been on guard against and looked down on.

Forget it, since he won't save me, I can't bring myself to beg him for a second time! At this moment, a war mastiff roared and rushed towards me. I blocked it with my shield, but the dog was so powerful that it bit off a piece of my oval broad shield. Just as it hesitated for a second to spit out the sawdust, I picked up my cavalry sword and chopped it straight up from bottom to top, cutting off the war mastiff's head along with its dog mouth in an instant.

This beast, couldn't even whimper, stood there shakily, I didn't have a trace of mercy, raised my sword, sent this beast to see its god! But killing this one alone was useless, because I found that the three of us were surrounded by a whole group of war mastiffs! The carriage behind us stopped and started, because there were too many Burgundians. To be honest, I haven't seen such a big scene in the movie. Looking around, it was a black mass of heads, covering us with helmets in the middle. Levi led his barbarian cavalry, who had lost more than half of his men, and moved forward at a snail's pace in the chaos. The thick and heavy lances had been thrown away long ago. They clamped their legs tightly around the horse's belly, holding cavalry swords and slashing wildly, trying to kill a bloody way for the carriage behind.

The purpose of the Burgundians' attack seemed to be this carriage. Their tactical core was to capture the leader first. Another horn sounded, and a large number of Burgundians poured out from the bushes on both sides of the road and pounced on the carriage like a group of hungry wolves.

"Luga, let's just run away! We have no chance of winning!"

Fermiou's malaria was getting worse. I was shaking when I was next to him. You can imagine how scared he was. I was wondering how this guy got into the First Battalion and how he got the bird-feather helmet of a centurion. "Andrew!" I decided to ask the veteran for advice. "What are you going to do in this situation? We'll listen to you!"

"What should we do?" Andrew snorted coldly. "What else can we do? We're just waiting to die!"

"Luka, you have to save me, I don't want to die!"

Fermiou was shaking even more violently, his face was ashen, and sweat was dripping from the iron plate on his forehead. He couldn't escape. In addition to the war mastiffs that could kill a strong soldier in seconds, the Burgundians were even more desperate.

“Whoosh!”

"laugh!"

I heard a scream and turned around quickly to see an arrow stuck in the coachman's chest. He immediately lost his strength and fell off the carriage. He was immediately surrounded by the war mastiffs, who bit him desperately. The blood splattered and quickly dyed the mouths and faces of the war mastiffs that surrounded him red. Stimulated by the blood, they became even more crazy and tore the coachman into pieces in an instant.

Seeing this scene, I broke out in a cold sweat. I was terrified. I didn't want to end up like the driver! Unconsciously, my legs became weak and my crotch felt wet. Yes! I peed my pants!

No, I couldn't go on like this. When I thought of my wet crotch, I slapped myself hard. This slap made me sober up a lot, but my weak legs still need some time to recover.

"Luka, Luka"

I heard someone calling me from behind, the voice was faint and a little tearful. I turned around and saw it was Fumio. He looked at me and burst into tears, covering his lower body, not knowing what he was covering. I looked down along the direction of his hand, and saw that he had peed his pants too, and a lot of it. Look, water was dripping down! No, it was peeing!

"Luka, I beg you, please take me out, I don't want to die, I don't want to die!"

"Alright, alright!" I waved at him, and turned my back to him so that he wouldn't see my embarrassment. As for running away, I wanted to run, but do you think all these dogs around here are idiots? "Luka, let's get on the carriage. At least we can stop these beasts, and maybe we can get another look at the respected Marshal Aetius!" Andrew's suggestion was very good, and I nodded in agreement. Without further ado, the three of us crouched close to the carriage and bypassed the feasting mastiff.

“Damn it!”

Suddenly, Andrew in front of me screamed, and I looked closely and saw that his right hand holding the sword was bitten hard by a war mastiff. The beast shook its head and tore desperately, and Andrew's arm was immediately stained with blood.

"I'm gonna fucking kill you, you son of a bitch!"

Andrew was enraged. He roared loudly, grabbed the skin on the dog's neck with his right hand, picked up the huge broad shield with his left hand, and smashed it hard on the beast's head.

"Bang!"

The dog whined, but showed no selfishness in letting go. Andrew was furious, and once again raised the heavy shield.

“Bang, bang, bang!”

After three consecutive hits, the dog's four legs went limp and it lay down, with bright red blood flowing from its nose and eyes.

"Don't let go! Don't let go!"

The latest novel is published first on Liu9shuba!

Andrew went completely crazy. His eyes were red as he stared. He dropped his shield with his left hand and grabbed the dog's mouth, forcing it open. No, he tore the war mastiff's mouth open completely.

"Come on, bite me!!!"

Andrew had lost his mind. He roared and bit the neck of the war mastiff, tearing it apart like the war mastiff. The war mastiff didn't even have the strength to wail. Its mouth was pulled so hard that it couldn't close. Tears were flowing from its eyes. It had lost its ferocious look. Now, it could only watch itself being torn apart by Andrew, a mad beast, like a prey.

"Okay, beast! Let me see what's inside you?"

Andrew went crazy. He let out a creepy laugh and opened his mouth. A large piece of the war mastiff's skin was torn off. Andrew did not give up. He stretched out his left hand to hold the torn skin, opened his mouth and bit the exposed flesh fiercely, swallowed the blood gushing from the war mastiff's neck, and exerted force with his left hand to peel off a large piece of the war mastiff's skin.

“Andrew?”

Seeing his beast-like behavior, just like the zombies in American blockbusters, I swallowed and called him softly, but Andrew was unmoved.

The war mastiffs that were about to pounce on him were frightened by Andrew's actions. They watched helplessly as the human was eating their own kind alive in an extremely cruel way.

"roar!!!"

Andrew howled to the sky like a wild beast. His face was covered in blood, and blood was constantly oozing out of his nose and mouth. He looked like a bloodthirsty demon from hell!

"Kill you, kill you!"

He suddenly turned his head and glared at the war mastiff in front of him. What he really couldn't believe was that the war mastiff was so scared by Andrew that it didn't dare to move forward. It retreated far away to a distance it thought was safe and roared at Andrew.
